I like the W&T to be honest. As someone that’s been playing NCAA since ‘05 and learning from my pops. I would always put my backups in start of the 4th if I’m up 20 or down 20 just to get players reps and not get injuries.

Wear and tear was on showcase in the championship. Look at Penix early vs Late against Mich. he started throwing immediately, limping, holding ribs, innaccuracy. He was hurting and hopefully this can replicate something like that

It’s like thanks Capt Obvious ofc it shares similarities! It’s way different than madden, they’ve been working on it for years and it’s current gen only. There’s never been a big ea sports game like that. Yearly releases ruin games.

Adding the customization of changing the depth of your hot routes is gonna be incredible. Can give you audibles just by changing the hot routes. You can basically run a levels concept by changing the depth on hot routes which is amazing. Switch stick is gonna present an entirely new skill gap imo. If you’re playing an opponent who has mastered this, it’s gonna feel impossible to move the ball.

@@captaindoughnuts4029Smart route will only adjust it to the goal line or first down marker…this will be fully customizable. e.g. you could run a 2 yard dig or a 20 yard dig.
To the people up in arms about ncaa being on the same engine as madden: it has always been this way and wasn’t an issue in the past in terms of gameplay and physics

The read option fix is so minor IMO, but really shows that they care. SUPER PUMPED for the game!
A simple button press for the option is what's needed. There is a such thing called doing to much
The thing I like most about the wear and tear system, is that a underdog team will actually feel it whenever they play a team like Alabama, Georgia, etc. Especially if they win. In old games you’d play those powerhouse schools, and then the next week it would be like nothing happened. Now your whole time will feel the impact of a game like that for the next week at least.
The game developers hate Oklahoma. Jackson Arnold was getting jacked up during this trailer. 🤣🤣

Main concern with the wear & tear and keying injuries system is EA has always had issues balancing features like this in past version of Madden and the older NCAA games. Hope the effect of these are adjustable by sliders because if they are it'll really ramp up realism but if it's a zero sum thing I worry it'll be overdone

Just like progressive fatigue in madden, I could see a world where wear and tear is broken in a long term sim. Imagine making it to the cfp and 8 of your starters have -20 on various abilities and are playing hurt. It would be a shame if this is a feature that is best turned off when playing long term dynasties.
I agree with you after seeing an article that said a QB went down -47 FOURTY SEVEN overall in one game from taking hits. I don’t trust this personally. If you play in a conference championship game & lose but still make the CFP championship then you are playing a 17 game szn. I have ZERO faith that this W&T won’t ruin a roster in an extended szn
It's absolutely a reskin and I can give specfiic, objective examples as to how the nuances of the sport still aren't done correctly.
1. @ 4:39 The LSU defender starts to do a missed tackle push-ups animation BEFORE the play ends. Realistically a players would not do that since they don't know if the ball carrier is down. Also on top of that they're under another player when they start doing it which makes it silly.
2. @ 4:34 The A&M defender doesn't react to the option play that's coming his way. He physically turns his body and runs towards the middle of the field while the rest of the secondary responds to the play.
3. @ 2:09 (this one is pretty quick so you gotta pay attention to the left side of the screen around the ACC logo) the S or LB reacts very rigidly and oddly to the "Texas" route from the RB. It does not look natural or smooth. He jerks his body suddenly as if he's doing a cone drill which gets himself out of position. On that play he should keep his shoulders square while riding his pre-existing inside leverage and play it inside out since the "short" side of the field is on our left (his right). So even if he gives up the completion, it would let him eventually use the sideline as a force out instead of allowing the RB to cross his face and run into the wide side of the field.
Slow down the video. Watch the movement of everyone, not just the ball carrier. Stop being distracted by flashy hurdle animations or buzzwords and pay attention to the fundamentals and how natural the movement/actions look. Ask yourself "does it make sense for that specific player to do that specific thing in this specific situation?"
The gameplay is still problematic and it's why EA is consistently getting lower and lower ratings. People are fortunately becoming more aware of how objectively poor the base machanics often are and it's causing reduced excitement for Madden every year.
This is simply that same bad core gameplay with added bells and whistles to satisfy the pageantry and college environment feel a NCAA football game needs to hit on.
It is a reskin with minor, surface level, largely irrelevant improvements. If you think otherwise you're part of the problem and you contribute to continued death of beloved sports games.

The fact that EVERY single person they've flown down there has come out and said "it's not a madden reskin" almost seems as if it were rehearsed.. then when they try to say why.. they don't typically have much to say.. if it's a lot different I would think what happens on the sidelines isn't something that should be brought up first..
That part!!! I been watching bengal for years, he’s 1000% being brand friendly now he got an EA tie. But can you blame the guy??? All the flown out guys videos seem so fabricated/scripted to me. Even Boudreaux. You can easily tell when someone you’ve been watching for years all of a sudden has this family friendly / almost typed out and handed to em review.

So far I've heard "look what they're doing on the sidelines, you don't see that in madden" and "its 30% faster than madden so it's different" idk about you but madden (just faster) isn't a big enough change to have me telling people how different it is..
I honestly wouldn't be too surprised if this isn't a madden reskin b/c some of the other features wouldn't fly in madden, the nfl doesn't want to look bad, gameplay might be different animation wise

I'm starting to wonder, since College Football got to workshop so many game mechanic ideas with way more time to figure it out than normal 1 year time frames. Madden is probably going to be a lot better because of it!

The wear and tear feature sounds cool. Seems very realistic. In lot of players get intontue game. My concern is that it will take away from the flow of the game. Any idea if a player has a platinum badge but then wear and tear brings their attributes down to gold?
If he has low awareness he might forget his assignment in a disguised look because his teamates aren't aligned the way they normally would

In my Madden franchise, my TE and RB always disappear by halftime every game and never come back in. Game just acts like they don't exist. Is that what this issue is?

Alabama uses a lot of match concepts that aren’t in Madden for example

It's still on frostbite it's difficult to believe it's that different to any madden of the last decade, it was never meant for sports games
Exactly. The engine was literally made to produce battlefield games. They were told by all the players from day 1 to not use frostbite, yet they don't listen. It will be Madden esque no matter what they do, and that is horrid.
This is the first time EA is making a PS5 and Xbox Series game for the new gen systems. This is going to help Madden get better. The college game use to be the one that got the features first then Madden would get them the next year.
you had me at "piss running down his leg..." I'm pretty sure that people will get mad, but it will teach them to sub correctly. No more 15-400 yard RB's. I'm wondering if people will try to hit-stick and destroy. Should lead to interesting dynasties and games for sure. I hope that there are concessions for when a team doesn't see the option normally, and you go against them then it matters. This is the third best thing I've ever seen, aside from my two girls being born.

I think the wear and tear system is a double edged sword for sure, it's a cool idea and it's been awhile since I've played college football game but it gives you a reason to play your younger players which you never do until others graduate, but it's also annoying that you have to micro manage injuries constantly, especially if its happening like every other play where it notifies you could be irritating to deal with, but they have turn injury off I'm assuming so if you really don't want to deal with it you won't have to

It's funny that people were even using the "reskin" argument. Madden and NCAA Football never felt the same. My first foray into both games was the 2003 editions (Marshall Faulk and Joey Harrington as cover athletes). They played totally different and that continued through 2014.
The Wear and Tear bring more RPG to College Football for Dynasty will be amazing.

idk if people knew this, but you can change the distance of a curl to the first down line by hot routing to a curl, then going back to that guy and press smart route (R1). It'll change the length of the curl to the first down line

I am so happy that they are balancing this for offline. Yes, online is probably going to be a nightmare trying to stop plays that are all custom cheese routes, but I’m buying this game for offline dynasty, and I think most other people are.
Seems like a lot of relation between these meters and what MLB the show has with meters. For example, get a ground ball moving with a fielder, and if your moving, the meter is different as opposed to when your player sets thier feet for accuracy, making throws more difficult, similar to throwing off-balance in real life.
Any news on substitution features? With how much they are pushing wear & tear, I hope there is an easy feature to sub players instead of pausing the game & going into the depth chart every 15 seconds.
The game prompts you to switch out players when necessary i believe
FAMU. Arizona, Tulsa, Tulane, Harvard, FAU, Wyoming, Kansas, Eastern Michigan, were all the teams i turned into Dynastys. I averaged winning the NCAA championship in the 4th season of each Dynasty i built and playing that many games and building all those Dynastys over a year and a half of playing the game nearly every day when i was finished playing i never played video game football afterwards over 12 years ago now. I did a similar run recently on defeating all the SOULS games and will probably never play those games again

RPOs are what they are regardless of the “type”. “Alert”RPOs are post snap reads with either the RB handoff or throw (block backside DE/OLB). The “read, etc” RPOs are where the OL doesn’t block the backside Edge giving the Triple optionish RPO where they run read option as the primary read and if the qb keeps it, the throw is the secondary read. A lot of players don’t understand that playing the game, but the plays are extremely useful. Madden was close this year but they did a poor job this year with a lot of those “read RPOs” due to the OL being downfield too fast causing penalties but a lot of colleges run those RPOs (D2 Coach). I noticed playbooks with the TE swipe/post-wheel RPOs and those plays see a lot of success (ik you’re a Texas fan so you should see those plays bc they run it) but the games haven’t replicated that success

Have you seen the entrance for Virginia Tech in the game at all? I know they couldn’t get enter sandman in the game but I want to at least know if the entrance is still the most electric entrance in college football
It would be so cool to see a HFA just evaporate if you go in and score 2 to 3 unanswered touchdowns early and then it come back if you throw a pick six or something along those lines

Something I like about this is they brought back some features and tweaked them. Now hold on, gimme a second. USUALLY when EA brings back a feature, they somehow make it worse than it was almost 20 years ago. In this however, everything they brought back they seem to have made much better.

This game is going to be amazing and I hope people dont give it a bad rep cause how long we waited for the game. I’m a franchise & dynasty addict the other modes don’t get touched so the cheese/glitch mechanics playing h2h won’t ruin my experience. The only thing that might hurt EA is the sells of Madden 25 and that’s cause of no Draft Class export which I understand but ima stay on NCAA all year!!!
I love it. Sure I get why people are critical of EA, they're predatory and don't have the best track record. But all the global panning of the game is too much, idk why people gravitate to being so negative. I love what I've seen from the game so far. Thanks, Bengal! Over an hour of goodness😊
If its animation based like madden then it will be garbage like madden no matter how many bells and whistles it has.
It SHOULD look the same. It's literally the same people playing the same sport. These are the actual players who will be in Madden in the near future.
Here’s the gamemode this game needs to explode. Let me create a dynasty where all setting are locked, and the game is set to its hardest difficulty. Let me build up a dynasty, and at any point from my league I can take that team and be matched up against similarly ranked rated teams in match made or private games. Sick way to increase the lifespan of the game and bring people into multiplayer and show my teams off to my buddies. Build a five star powerhouse and play other people’s five star powerhouses. During the games it could be flash up if players on either team has won a heisman or something. Would kill for that.
For the RPO i really wish they did handoff default unless you move the QB. I do not want to have to press a button to keep.

As someone who never really grew up with fav college team I only watched to see future nfl players. I’m so excited for this. Maybe my dynasty team will make me into a fan of a college
