    This is our second K-Classic. We had our first one for many years, so when we had to replace it, we wanted nothing else but this exact th-cam.com/users/postUgkxBrV-RbF5Nk0Rlt9i15aao-YMzqzTG8Vf model. We use it for about three people everyday in the morning. The taste and quick brew is one of the reasons we like it so much. There are so many choices of brands of coffee that we would grab what was on sale and test the different brands from there. I would definitely recommend trying different brands of coffee to find the ones you like the most because there are brands that quite frankly taste horrible.

    Iam going to say this with much love, because you are tremendously smart with electrical components and schematics, but that would have been the frist thing I check. But really do appreciate the break down of the components.

    You underestimate the cleverness of printer manufacturer. The cartridges of the printer you buy don't have the amount of ink as the ones you buy separate.

    • @gustavgans3760
      @gustavgans3760 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Even better is a leading manufacturer which name I won't name for legal reasons. But their logo has a H and a P in it. Offers a subscription service where they send you Ink if it runs low. The cartridges the use for this purpose are circa twice the size and quadruple the weight of the once you can buy.

    That needle gets cloged pretty easily. I had simmilar type (with slightly more practical shape) and i was cleaning it up quite often. I was also fixing the sealing from water tank and then happily get rid of it :)
    BTW your videos are awsome and you are doing a pretty good job with the schematics! 👍

    You can take hairspray and spray it on chrome surfaces from maybe half a meter of distance to diffuse the reflections. Let it dry for a bit, it won't be tacky. Later it can be washed off with a rag with a bit of warm soapy water.

    I have owned two K....g coffee makers, same idea as the one in this video, different shape. My first unit stopped pumping after three months so I called their tech support. Their entire troubleshooting procedure over the phone was to have the customer unplug the needle with a paperclip. I knew that wouldn't work because at the time I only made hot water for tea with my unit (didn't like the cost of the pre-packaged coffee cups which also tended to be stale from the stores in my area) but I let her follow her flowchart anyway. After several tries she finally agreed to send me a new unit. While I waited for it to arrive I took the broken one apart, found the hose that had pulled off the top of the tank, put it back on and the thing has worked fine since. The new one also had a problem which I'm sure would have not been repairable per their procedures. However, to save them the cost of replacing it (and my trying to convince them that I actually had two defective units) I took it apart, found the one-way valve inside the end of one of the tubes that had glued itself shut, gently pried it open with a small screwdriver (the valve probably became stuck due to some residue left over from its manufacture) and that machine, too, has been working fine since. BTW, K used to sell a filter cup and holder assembly into which you can put your own coffee grounds. You simply use it like a normal disposable cup and clean it out after each use. Mine has lasted five years and shows no sign of wear. Saves lots of money and tastes better because you can use coffee that you know is fresh.

    • @DiodeGoneWild

      Or maybe it melts... who knows... but the cartridge probably can't be pressurized much, it would leak around the needle.

    • @PeterHovorka
      @PeterHovorka 6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      You are right Stuart. Here is a cut of capsule. You can see that on the bottom is a thin foil which is pierced by field of plastic spikes on the bottom when top of capsule get under pressure. That is the reason why you shouldn't use capsule once used. ;)

      seems like the bottom just contains some plastic mesh, and the coffee inside maybe is so compressed, that it doesn't let air trough yet, when you press the bulged top.

      Cheese 1337 I was curious, so I opened one and there is thin film which is pushed by pressure of injected water to small spikes. What make way for water.

    I own one of these machines and have researched the working mechanism profoundly, both the machine and the capsules. I don't know why but I found extremely funny how he was so clueless about how the capsules worked. Also he didn't know a thing about the machine, but it's something to expect if you don't drink coffee at all. I feel kinda bad seeing this poor machine completely destroyed, but at least I learnt how mine works. Also is pretty funny that all the fault was a clogged needle. Those machines are pretty durable if you treat them right.

    coffee catridge is made from top cover foil that is punctured by needle and 2 cm lower second plastic foil with small holes it keeps coffee in place-below that is coffee, below coffee is lower plastic foil that is seal and it is completely closed before using capsule, same as top cover seal. below lower seal is sharp strainer/filter, and last part is capsules hole, it works like this: needle makes hole on top seal and it is pressed and sealed from coffee machine rubber pilow that is pressed down when lever is down, hot water enters into capsule, and passes through, coffee , pressure raises in capsule and coffee and water brakes lower seal on plastic strainer/filter that has sharp tops , and coffe comes out of capsule,

    Thanks for making this. There is a product to use once a month if you have hard water to descale the inside surfaces of the coffee maker. You can use it but of course less fun than a teardown.

  •  6 ปีที่แล้ว

    With Dolce Gusto, you press button and wait for a minute or minute and a half until it heats up the water, once it turns green then you can use it, by pushing lever to red, I have one myself and I am a coffee drinker

    I have a Dolce Gusto mini, always wondered what was inside :) I had to repair the water tank with clotch tape for repairing glass windows on greenhouses. A new one is too expensive lol. They do cheaper Kenco and Aldi knock off compatible pods in the UK which I buy, but I sometimes get offers from NesCafe to get discounts ordering online. I won't pay more than £3.50 per box as they are a rip off lol You can get cold drink pods like Peach Tea, Lemon Tea and some other nice cold drink pods ;) Your always welcom to come round for a Tea if you prefer, but I do drink coffee but it keeps me awake lol not sleepy :), oh and bring your cat, I love it, I could stroke her all day :)
    When the pin enters the pod, the clamp down creates a seal. The water pressure forces the water out the bottom, you can hear it pop when this happens. Inside is a small silver foil over little spikes in the plastic at the bottom and a plastic seal over the coffee under the label. The pods are self filtering.
    As a first guess before watching the whole video is the pin is blocked by scale, there should be a small circular pin prodder behind the water tank you remove to unblock the water pin :)

  • @dziustas1
    @dziustas1 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Just descale this coffee machine with acid solution, check for any leaks and it should work fine. I think I can see metal pin for cleaning that needle hole at the back of this machine. Put your finger on that ring and pull it out. You can also get refillable silicone or metal capsules online. Parts for repair also available but sometimes it's not worth to do that. Better thing to do is to buy semi automatic machine with steam wand and seperate coffee burr grinder manual or electric. It's more reliable with only two thermostats for water and steam and you can make a lot of coffee drinks.

  • @bloodyl_uk
    @bloodyl_uk 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Simple operating instructions: Make sure lever is in middle, lift flap, pull tray, insert pod, insert tray, lower flap, press the power button.. now the trick is to wait for the ringlight to go green before choosing hot or cold water, job done. 😊

    that's very interesting. I've had the square Krups dolce gusto in red for many years and got the exact same one in black for free with my news paper subscription... after not using it for a year, it did the exact same thing. I really wanted a second one for in the office because I really like them, you can make both cold and hot beverages (there's different pads / cartridges). I get the off-brand ones at the store and they're about €2,30 for 16 pods, which is very decent and about twice as cheap as the real ones. I ended up just buying a new machine (Amazon temporarily had Delonghi machines for only €25!!, usually they're only Krups in Europe). after your video, I'm just gonna poke a needle through the dispenser/needle... I might end up with 3 dolce gustos...
    I also get really sleepy after drinking coffee! it's currently 00:17 and I just drank one, so... goodnight 😂 .. they make good hot chocolate and tea as well, though.

    • @jhndk7915
      @jhndk7915 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LimbaZero I think it's because of the heat, but it's a known fact caffeine has different impacts on different people. If I force myself to stay awake after drinking coffee, I won't be able to fall asleep for another few hours.
      For example I drink coffee at 23:00 and fall asleep by 23:30. But if I stay awake until 0:00, I'll find myself doing something random at 2:00 because I can't sleep.

  • @kemi242

    You could do a teardown on the capsule itself. I guess it is filled with a noble gas to keep oxygen in the air reacting with the coffee, and the bottom seal is held on by the pressure. If the top of the capsule is punctured by the machine, it releases the pressure, that releases the seal and lets water flow through it.

    probably one of your funniest vid ever hahaha.. i know it was perhaps not meant to be funny but still.. btw the hole on the underside of the cups is probably sum kind of plastic pressure seal..
    because the machine produces pressure something like 15bar to push out the coffee . i got my wife the mini.. she love to drink hot coco and for the ease of use the price of the cups is ok.. you can aslo grab third party cups that cost way less.. for my day to day coffe i use a moccamaster that has a cooper heating element and a nice expensive coffee bean grinder same brand..can't start my day without a good cup of coffee my friend.. it's legal drugs hahahah

      The top of the cartridge is like an aluminium foil. At 15 bar it would be long burst :). And it would leak around the needle anyway. How the bottom gets opened is still a mystery to me :).

      so you think Dolce gusto is lying about these machines producing coffe at 15bar ?? that's one of their main selling points if you go on their site click machines and look at the specs and sum talking points they are pretty proud it produces 15bar.. reall espresso folks will tell you their machines produces something like 9bar ..that's why the folks from Dolce gusto like to advertise their 15bar.. but of course the pressure doesn't make the coffee taste better more things come in to play..

      Nespresso page says "up to 19 bars". Some other sources for other machines claim "2 bar" or "4-6 bar". Which (UK) says "3.3 bar" for the Tassimo machine.
      Bottom being opened by pressure appears to be a common theme.
      Does the top of the capsule get pressed against the rubber seal, especially at the border? If the mounting pressure is sufficient, it would solve the issue. The structural integrity of the cup is then maintained not by the cup itself, but by the supporting structure, and the bottom can pop open.
      In fact there's a possibility that the capsule sits loose in the holder, however with pressure being applied to the cavity, the capsule expands and seals against the surrounding structure.

      nice explanation.. today i descaled my wife's gusto mini machine..i myself don't drink that crap.. 100yr old coffee without a burn date.. i use a nice drip machine with freshly roasted beans.. roast date no longer then 1.5 months ..and ground on the spot.. DiodeGoneWild will probably think i'm mad all that fuss about coffee..ahhaha

    There is less in there than i expected, i first thought the bt151 was chopping the voltage to the heater to change the heat, but then you showed the valve mixer.
    Odd how that tube got clogged.

    So basicly.. If youd just take the metal wire from the back of the water tank you'd have fixed the issue in seconds. Its there for a reason, the needles get clogged pretty easily.

    New printers come with setup cartridges. They offer you The setup cartridges to set up the printer. You are suppose to change them because they are almost empty. New cartridges last normal. Setup cartridges last a few pages.

    These needles on various brands clog up from latte, hot chocolate, or other sugary pods. So i just use my coffee maker only for plain coffee or tea.

    If you want cold water,it's faster to turn a valve than waiting for heater to go cold.

      That's probably right. But I think that water would cool it very soon, because it has much much higher thermal capacity than the metal.
