I actually have a friend who purposefully uses different rarities on his cards if he can to keep track of certain things, like which one of his Bentens were properly special summoned for instance. I found that incredibly clever.

I like playing a damaged Lava Golem just for the extra disrespect that comes with wiping two of my opponent's monsters XD
I know that the rarity of the cards doesn't really matter, but a wise crab said it best: I'd rather be shiny.
Well, that's not true, the effects in cards bring power and trust in the heart of the cards.😂
But honestly, yeah yu gi oh is basically a p2w game 😅.
You Don't need the most expensive decks, but you need most expensive and uncommon cards.
Even assemble a deck with 3 structures needs the extra deck(pretty rare cards) and ash blossom(and shut like that. Again not are cheap).
The most economical competitive deck probably is around 300/550 dollars.
After that all is easier, but you're gonna need save money for the new broken cards. is pay the full box of cards or buy the card for 1/3 of the box price(even x10/20 the price if you want some rarity).

Funny thing is… rarity doesn’t really matter if there’s a less rare easier accessible reprint. Sometimes it’s not about rarity… it’s about getting the job done

One of my favorite memories was showing up to a new locals post the Masked Hero structure deck and absolutely wiping the store owner (who was on Max Rarity Mermail IYKYK) and he was absolutely fucking livid a new guy (kid at the time, like 16) showed up and just copped a W. Side note, he doesn't run a shop anymore since he drove out literally every single Yugioh player from his store.
Finally, i'm allowed to flex my playset of Elemental HERO Prisma that I bought 2 years ago for a Dark Magician budget build i was messing with.

Yeah mtg can be pricey but it’s still far more budget friendly then yugioh. I can make a decent mono red aggro deck for about 40$.
@@TheSandwhichman108 You can do it even cheaper in Yu-Gi-Oh like the only real expensive cards in yugioh are the insane meta cards or the best cards in the archetype and unless they facilitate the decks functionality as a whole then you can make nearly the same boards for cheap without them.
@@klutzmtg2310 Fair enough. I just have a preference to mtg since from my experience the game really doesn’t feel like no one deck is too strong. Yeah some decks are stronger then others but it really does feel like players were more into seeing what mtg had to offer. One of the most famous examples of this beige the red deck wins. A mono red deck all about the mana curve plus the deck itself has stood the test of time.

Prime example of why I don’t care about what rarity or version of a card. All that matters to me is 1 is it a legal version and 2 is it what I need for my deck to work well? If I can get the exact same card and effects for $20 cheaper I’m ok with it not being fancy shiny.

This was me as a kid. My deck was awesome though. Had every magic/trap card in the book. I was such a pain to play against. Nightmare wheels. Sakuretsu Armors. Magic cylinders. I made it so my opponent was always scared or hesitant to attack me because they will most likely be losing their attacker. I actually pulled off some crazy bluffs because of how my friends knew the way my deck was stacked. I could just put a regular magic or trap card that is nothing and I’ve had them assume it was a sakurestu armor 😂😂😂

Reminds me of the time my opponent filled their field with kashtira stuff, I sphere+golemed him before using my millenium combo and winning with exodia the legendary defender. THE LEGENDARY DEFENDER
Situation between two of my mates back in the day. One of them blew his wallet on a then expensive Light Sworn deck. My other mate kept beating him with a common Battery deck.
I admit, just once, I did alter my a deck to have the highest rarity or most expensive possible, nothing less than a Super Rare. IOC BLS, JUMP Chaos Sorcerer, Champion and Tournament pack cards like Book of Moon and Bottomless Trap Hole, called it my Bling Deck, stupid I know. Mind you this was around the end of Dragon Lord's and Prophecy meta, so quite a while ago, 2013/4. Worth around 1.5k at the time, which was mostly just Main Deck. I'm not so sure what it would be worth now. I never went out of the way to boast it's rarity or thought I was compensating for anything, I was proud of it as an achievement at the time and liked whenever my opponent asked where the card came from. I'm now much more conservative with money in acquiring cards.
i purposefully like to specify "prettier" cards as a lowkey flex, and never wanting to play the highest rarity unless i need to but this is next level 😅 totally relatable
I won six times in a row on Duel Links KC Cup using a Black Luster Soldier deck. It was so powerful, I even saw a Blackwing player give me the win by attacking my Legendary Swordsman with his Kris. I laughed so hard because of how dumb of a decision that was! I almost lost the sixth time, but I managed to use Legendary Swordsman and Ritual Summon it by sacrificing both Evening Twilight Knight and Beginning Knight, to allow me to banish both her Dark Magician Girl and Chocolate Magician Girl during the main phase. If I didn't, I would have lost.
Breaking boards with the cheapest rarities is always the most fun. Nobody seems to like my max gold nibs XD

I don't care what anybody says, high rarity decks have both a confidence boosting and natural intimidation bonus. Nothing more traumatizing than watching your backrow get annihilated by ultimate rare feather duster or getting hand trapped by a quarter century alternate ghost ogre 😂
From what I’ve seen lately, competitive decks win turn 1, so players should have plenty of time to see the sun 😂

I love going against kashtira. My deck is typically full of hand traps. Once had some dude set his entire board and I nibirued it. Then I pulled out my faithful evil sprights, special summoned all my monster and I was even kind enough to give him corruptor iblee. I Lila'd his token and he spent the rest of the clock trying to figure out why he couldnt special summon his monsters anymore 🤷♂️

I made my decks with only commons if possible. The artwork is just better without all the reflections and shinies. Also these kinds of players get grossed out and go back at home for their annual shower

It’s like at one point I wanted every single card in my deck to be a holographic. My deck was popping in the late 2000s good times. 2007-2010 I think we’re the prime years. I was in 8th grade.
I actually was at a locals where that happened. Turned out one guy who was super Braggy about the meta status and rarity of his deck got Nibiru'd twice and lost each game. He stormed out of the tournament screaming about how cards like Nibiru and Kaijus should just be banned forever.

As a long time Yugioh player, I’ve always liked the RARE look. Simple card with only silver text. Very affordable. Love it.
Anything more than that is too extra for me, haha. I’d rather sell any shiny cards I have and trade them in for RARE versions.

In all fairness I don't stare at the sun often.
And shit like this is why every card, in every deck I play, in every TCG I play, is its lowest rarity.
Out of 47 cards in my main deck, I only have 4 that are common. I wish they made rare versions of those cards.
No one in the world can beat my deck. It has the power of extreme friendship.
