My experience is, its much easy to drive auto in hills for 2 reasons, 1st u need not to bother about clutch and gears and 2nd your vehicle never goes backward even on steep rise when u r in drive mode. If you have sports drive mode with paddle shift then its best

Hi Anchit, we had both manual and auto on this trip. Auto doesn't let us get tired bcz of its effortless shifts while manual feel more eager to climb hills and feels more punchy. Both models have hill hold assist and reverse assist, so we need not to worry about vehicle moving in any direction if you don't want to. Driving auto was a fatigue free experience though in this 1500 kms trip.
Last doubt. Does an AT make driver feel sleepy being less engaged. That's dangerous for long drives. Manual doesn't let u drowse. Thats my observation. May be wrong. Are manuals more safe in that sense.? Thanks for replying.
You don't need 15 lakh thar to go manali...... Snow chains & driving skills are enough for any car 😂 I hope you see tata harrier ..... Then you will get to know what 4x2 SUV can do 💪
No doubt Tata Harrier is one of the best when it comes to non 4x4 vehicles but as per your first line 15 lacs is too much, then Harrier costs 23 lacs and still not a full off road vehicle. Skills are most important, yet sometimes you need tools to use those skills. These conditions are one of the easiest you will encounter during snow fall, it gets way more difficult and Harrier will also not cope up, sometimes not even 4x4s. Don't underestimate the nature.

This was a 1500 kms trip. It handled it beautifully. My Ecosport is better on highway for sure which can carry more speeds confidently but staying at 100kmph instead of 130kmph is better than struggling to even move an inch when you reach challenging terrain.
A wise person will carry a snow chain in these months if going to snow areas ,with that even 4x2 will work
