dan, Dan, Good to see your aerator. And many thanks for the mentions in your video. If I may make a suggestion it's usual to aerate after mulling (if you are going to mull) because while mulling distributes the water and clay nicely it does tend to compact the sand. My method is to break the moulds out on the floor, remove the castings, rake the sand out to about 3 inches high and then using the back of the rake I tamp the sand down while walking all over it, this breaks up the lumps. I then spray it with my guess at the amount of water needed (you get pretty good at guessing this after about 20 years 😊) Shovel it into a heap and then pass it through the aerator straight into my 200 litre plastic storage barrel. I never use a muller simply because I do not have one but I think that if I did mull and then aerate my sand would be better. - You have the best of both worlds here and I think that you could easily put the mulling in as a stage right after you have tamped the sand down, adding the necessary water to the muller, and then after mulling pass through the aerator... And yes, I am not surprised that 3000 rpm plus is a "little scary" mine does just about 1500 rpm... Regards, Martin

Yeah I run it back through the aerator after mulling. I can tell right away if the sand is too wet, it clogs the aerator. ;)
Interesting foundry work. Brings back memories of shop class
Nice...
