Happy Independence day from the UK, though I'd say "Reforming Day" would be more accurate as Israel was re-established on cessation of the British Mandate by UN decision.

@@davidgauthier2721 Not sure how the Bible comes into it David, and I'm not Jewish, Israeli or religious at all, but I think the archaeological findings are glaringly obvious and the historical background to the Levant pretty well established. The Joint Kingdoms of Israel & Judea quashed after the Jewish revolt against Rome existed, as does the ramp at Masada! I believe for many centuries during the Jewish diaspora the term 'Next year in Israel' was oft quoted at Hanukah. I'm sure some scholar of Judaism can correct me if wrong, but to me I feel 'reformed' is a better word.

@@davidgauthier2721 This is quite true David, but Israelis are not colonists. 20% are in fact non-Jews, Druze, Christians, Muslims, Bedouin etc, all Israelis who have equal status to all others and many serve with distinction in the IDF and like many Jewish (Sephardic) peoples, never left Israel. Sadly in 1948 (like the USA, England or Ireland years earlier) a civil war ensued after the UN reforming of the State of Israel. (Palestine was never a nation but an artificial province of Rome, initially including present day Syria) Israel won that war as the opposite side had rejected co-existence and a two State solution. International Law is clear, land is owned by three main routes. Settlement, cessation and conquest. Israel trumps all three. If the UK, miffed at the loss of the 13 colonies in 1776 started firing rockets at Washington (which I guess it did in 1814!) now, claiming they own the land, people would be outraged... Similarly I guess the Confederate States. In reality it's all Native American land, which is why in Australia they've given Native Title. (Confusing because Aboriginal Australians hold that you cannot 'own' land.)

Three years, not four days after, not one day before the conclusion of a prestigious sporting event ! Putin ordered the invasion of Ukraine only four days after the conclusion of the 2022 Beijing Olympic Games! Iran-backed HAMAS could not even wait for the ASIAN Games 2023 to conclude !
