I watched some of their films as a child because my grandad is a life long fan, but recently my love for them has really flared up and I've bought a lot of DVDs of their films, and I'm loving every minute of it. Even the silent ones.

Ever since childhood, Stan Laurel has always come across as a total sweetheart of a man, both in films and in footage.
I understand that Harpo Marx & Moe Howard were thoroughly delightful humans too.

No, I respectfully beg to differ, The two greatest comedians that ever lived. We are still laughing with them 90 years later. That is unique and shows them as world beaters at their craft.

Well, I’m sitting here , after watching all 7 parts and I’m just sitting i silence. Sometimes, I wonder why wonderful things have to leave us all ... even we have to all leave someday . I wish I was smarter and more aware and could have called Stan Laurel before he passed away . . He left in 1965 . Wish it was still 1965 ~ ~ Laurel & hardy were just go wonderful. I feel sorry for those that never understood their humor . ...

If you don't love Laurel and Hardy, don't even speak to me. You're not worth talking to!

I read Stan kept his phone number in the book, you could call him and talk, imagine that today?

+MerleOberon I think Stan would love the idea of texting, e-mailing and all the other modern ways of communication.

The genius that 'was' Laurel and Hardy? ......certainly not the case. Genius that 'is' and always will be.

0:18 not buried but cremated - she said "laid to rest" indicating a burial in most minds - Laurel was cremated and his ashes were interred in Forest Lawn-Hollywood Hills Cemetery

Laurel and Hardy are the best comedy team and, with all due respect to others, none were even close. Hal Roach paid Laurel and Hardy a flat rate while he made a lot more money. That is greed at its best. Roach first name should have been Cock.

@@TheRatterdotcom Spot on. Chaplin's humour does not transcend the decades like Laurel and Hardy do. In fact, I cannot think of any other act anywhere where 90 years later people are still making films about them and children are still watching and laughing. Not Chaplin. Not Buster Keaton. Not the Marx Bros. There is no equivalent, they were unique. Most of all we knew them, leastwise, we all feel we do.

@@HenryPage you may be right about Chaplin and Keaton being underappreciated today but I can't say that you're correct about the Marx Brothers!
