Thank you very much! I am kind of focusing on the babies right now and getting them started to work. But we will be back to our normal grind here before too much longer. Thank you so much for the kind words and taking time to watch and comment! I truly appreciate you. Take care my friend and do come again, please

May and June are learning fast. At times you can tell June is the scared one. However, with your knowledge you give her the courage to power through it. I'm sure not ever first hitches has gone this easy. The knowledge that has been passed down to you and now your passing on to the next generation is priceless. Thank you brother Zach. God bless
Yessir Mr James, you’re welcome my friend. And thank you so much for the kind words as always and taking time to watch and comment. I appreciate your dedication to my channel. Take care and do come again, please

I have really enjoyed this series on breaking your mules. I am very surprised at just how fast you had them hitched in and pulling. I thought it would take so much longer but then you know what you're doing. Thanks so much for sharing this. I look forward to seeing how they progress. May God bless you and yours.
Thank you so much and thank you for taking time to watching comment! I also appreciate the blessings and kind words, my friend. Take care and do come again, please
Thank you Zach for the time and effort to make these videos. I've been struggling with a pair of mismatched and stubborn horses, one very quick, one slow, etc. I can see now I've made a lot of mistakes, almost gave up, for anyone interested there's a veritable wealth of information here. I feel indebted, and very thankful for this information. Thank you
Heavy loads and a buckback will help with a lot of that. They have to actually work to learn to work together. You don't want to give them so much weight that they learn to balk, but you need to give them enough that will get them honestly tired. A lot of that foolishness will go away when they are working hard enough and long enough.
You’re welcome Mr Doug! I appreciate the kind words and I’m glad ya enjoyed the video. And found it helpful. I wish you the best with your team and I’ll have more to come for you. Thank you for taking time to watch and comment: take care and do come again, please.
Another very interesting video. Thank you. I feel that I'm learning a lot. I may never get a chance to use it, but it never hurts to gain more knowledge. Thanks again. Have a great and blessed day.
Thank you sir! I am glad ya enjoyed it and thank you for the kind words!! And for taking time to watch and comment: I surely appreciate it. Take care and do come again, please

Well, thank you very much! I’m glad you enjoyed the videos. That makes it worth doing… Thank you for taking time to watch and comment. Take care and do come again, please
I predicted from the start that June, with her stronger personality, will be a harder worker when it comes to a heavy pull. I'm already seeing this to be true with her. She's already picking up that breaks come in the shade, too. She's a smart gal, I'm proud you've chosen to take the time with her and give her a chance. That's a choice I questioned in the beginning. I really like your slow and steady approach. Same as starting my saddle horses. My tail hitting the seat is not a cue to leave out. May is super sweet. Your willing to spend the time, and doing it smart, will make you another fine team. Enjoying your videos and your standing with our Lord. Thanks, Clay.
Thanks Clay! Yeah, it’s been my experience the rougher ones usually make the better ones if you know how to go about breaking them. I really like June. And I think she is going to make a really nice work mule. Time will tell. Thanks for the kind words and taking time to watch and comment. Take care and do come again, please
First 3 days is everything! You're so right! Just makes good common sense, like you say! Very nice how well they've done in just 2 days. It's impressive to me! Really enjoy your way! P.s. I love to say all the names of mules, and fellas, at the beginning of the videos!😊. ❤
Thank you ma’am! I’m glad you are enjoying the videos and thank you so much for the kind words and taking time to watch and comment. I’m also glad that you enjoy all the names at the beginning. Thank you so much! Take care and do come again, please.
Another world class video Zach. It is sure enough amazing to watch how well your young team is progressing. Thanks for putting all the work into breaking them & all the work filming and editing the video. Also, thanks for sharing scripture with us. Want to say I sure do feel the presence of the Lord while watching your work. An inspirational verse every chapter would be a real blessing. On another note... if you run bunnies with that beagle dog make sure to take us along!! 🐇dale t
Thank you Mr Dale! I surely appreciate it. I’m glad ya enjoyed it and thanks a whole bunch for taking time to watch and comment. We don’t hunt with the beagles, but if we ever do, I’ll def bring ya along. We use to run hounds years ago. Anyway, thanks buddy! Take care and do come again, please

Thank you sir for taking time to watch and comment . I appreciate your dedication to my channel. Take care my friend and do come again, please
Awesome video!!! Nice to see the tractor with the gin pole keeps them moving safely!!! I remember watching you break Ruth & Betty seems to me they were a few years older when you started driving them.
Yessir. That’s been a while back for sure. I don’t use the tractor anymore really. I prefer using a broke animal to start colts. But I did want to show the tractor as an option. Thanks for the kind words and taking time to watch and comment my long time friend. Take care and do come again, please
Zach thank you for the video I was told empress the way you trained your mules you have so much patience and skills I don't commit on the last video I got busy I am sorry but I will not do that again they are looking great I am looking forward to the next video, thank you I won't keep you so stay safe be careful God bless your friend, Billy

Hi Zach. If you worry about sore shoulders on colts. I used to rub a strong black tea mix (Tanic Acid) every day on the colts shoulders for a week or so before working. It toughens the skin on a colt shoulder and on your hands if you use bare hands to apply.. You probably know this but thought I would drop the idea to you, Great video I am really enjoying them. cheers Ron McCoy
Thank you, Ron! Really, what I was worried about was ill fitted collar rubbing on them. Not so much their tenderness. These are new collars, so you have to be careful to make sure they are right… But so far so good. I believe I have a good fit. No sores at all. Thank you sir for the kind words and also taking time to watch in comment as always. I truly appreciate it. Take care my friend and do come again, please
Thank you very kindly! And yes, I do believe in the end she will be the better mule for sure. I have said that all along… The harder they are to break, usually the better they are. Thank you my friend for taking time to watch and comment. And thank you for the kind words… Take care and do come again, please
Awesome! Glad ya got one made. Thanks for the kind words my friend and thanks for taking time to watch and comment. Take care and do come again , please
🤣🤣🤣 well, I’m glad I can help lol. Thank you so much for taking time to watching and comment as always. I appreciate your dedication to my channel. Take care my friend and do come again, please
Thank you! And yessum, I’ve broke several so not my first rodeo for sure :) thank you for the kind words and also thank you for taking time to go thru the videos and watch! I appreciate it. Take care and do come again, please
The main thing is they aren't afraid anymore. Once you get past the fear factor, its all downhill from there. Make sure they don't get hurt and you don't get hurt in the first few days, and then they'll just keep getting better and better each time you work them. The more time they spend in harness, the better they will get. The main thing newbies have to understand is that every time you are around your horse or mule, you are training them for better or worse. If you are just petting them, and you let them show disrespect, you'll get more and more disrespect. If you are just petting them, and you expect a certain standard of behavior, you will get better and better behavior.
Thanks for sharing your training knowledge with us novice folks. I'll be honest I doubt if I will ever train a mule or a horse but it's pretty neat to see what goes into their training! You're doing a great job Zach! My only question is, do you give the mules a water break when you take your water break? It's kind of a silly question but I was just curious.
Thank you kindly my friend and I’m glad you enjoy the video even though you may never use it. I’m just glad ya enjoy being here. As far as water for them…mules don’t drink a whole lot of water as compared to a horse. I will usually offer them water around midday. But they usually won’t drink unless it really really hot. But I do offer. They’re tougher than I am. Anyway, thanks for the question buddy, and hope I’ve answered. Thanks for taking time to watch and comment: I appreciate it. Take care and do come again, please
You are most welcome! And I’m glad you enjoyed the video. That makes it worth doing. Thank you for taking time to watch and comment. Take care my friend and do come again, please
Yessir. So far they’ve done really well. We’re into day 6 now and they’re coming right along. They’re a smart team. I believe they’re gonna be nice. Anyway, thank you again for the kind words and taking time to watch and comment. Take care and do come again, please
Zach so far I like the first three days of mule training. your attention to details is fantastic. my question is this area that you work them, is that a normal exercise area? That seems like it might be important. God bless you and Marcy
Thank you SRB. The area is not really that important as much as it to have things to secure with. Such as a good tree to tie up too. While hooking and unhooking. At least till they’re settled enough to ground drive and hitch. Anyway, thanks buddy for taking time to watch and comment as always. Take care and do come again, please
Well, it gives the mules a little more freedom to move in and out when needed without being rough on their mouth. And the direction of pull from me to them is more “straight line”. So it aids in getting a better handle on them imho. A friend put me onto it a couple years ago. I’ve tried it with and without spreaders. I personally like spreaders better. It also allows your buckles on your check lines to be further to the rear which is better for them not going thru the hame rings should something get sideways. But the stay chains will accomplish that also and not let one animal get so far ahead of the other that it becomes a worry. Anyhow, did that make sense? Thanks my friend for the question and taking time to watch and comment. Take care buddy, and do come again..please
Thank you sir! I will def make up for it this Sunday :) I appreciate the prayers and blessings. Thanks also for taking time to watch and comment. Take care and do come again, please
Yes ma’am, both of them do it at different times. It is just anxiety. That all will go away with time and the (harness) and work. Thank you ma’am for taking time to watching comment on my videos as always. I appreciate you! Take care and do come again, please.
Thank you and I’m glad you enjoyed it. That makes it work doing. I usually try to work them at least 4 to 5 hours every day for the first couple of weeks. Once I have a good handle on them, I will ease up just a little. But in the beginning, I try my best to stay with them as often as I can. Time and (harness) is what it takes… Thank you for taking time to watching comment and for the question. I hope I answered it for you. Take care, my friend and do come again, please
Normally, we put the bigger mule on the right hand side to allow for road ground and also plowing. The bigger mule goes in the furrow anyway, thank you for the question and I hope I answered it for you. Thank you also for taking time to watch and comment. Take care and do come again, please
Morning Sir, I am fix n to hook up a single today appreciate your lessons. Two questions #1 any where near you to buy type of harness you use? #2 what brand mic you use and does it work with your I phone. I feel would be a great learning tool! Thank you.
Hi there! You are most welcome and I’m glad you enjoyed the videos. As far as the (harness) is concerned, I am still working with Timbercrest Harness Shop to finish developing patterns for the box britchen harness. Which is the type of harness I use. When we get it nailed down good, I will put out the information for anyone who wants to purchase a set. I’m not sure on the brand of mic that I have but yes sir it does work with an iPhone. Thank you for taking time to watching comment and thank you for the kind words! Take care and do come again please.
After watching your video from yesterday Zach I'm curious to know what would be wrong with starting to desensitize cults and they're still little compared to when you started these two?
There is nothing wrong with doing whatever ya can to desensitize an animal. But it does NOT replace working them. When that harness goes on, and they’re hooked…things change. I’ve done all sorts of desensitizing with these colts. But a mule like June, it has to be worked into her. She has to get tired in order for things to set in. You can watch this video here of some training I did with them a year or so ago. th-cam.com/video/Cbt0jnXR_As/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Zng47sI2ZBqkwVST But again, that doesn’t replace working them. Things will change…and you need to be ahead of them before anything can happen. If not, you’re behind them, and they’ve already learnt bad habits. Everyone can do what a man thinks is best. But I’ve broke a bunch of them. And tried several different methods. This way works the best for me and my mules. Gains the most ground, and turns out the most solid work animal. Anyway, thanks for taking time to watch and comment. Hope I answered your question. Take care and do come again, please.
No ma’am. No video of it. Because it was basically the same thing as day 2. Just driving and getting more whoa. I didn’t wanna bore you guys with the same ole stuff everyday lol. However, every time we move into something new I will get a video of it. To show what we’re doing and how we’re doing it. Today, we’re a week in. And today we’re gonna be working on hitching in the wide open. And desensitizing to four wheelers and whatnot. Plus more of the same of what we been already doing as well. Does that make sense? Thank you for the question and for taking time to watch and comment. I appreciate it. Take care and do come again, please

You deserve all the thanks my friend
Thank you! And thanks for taking time to watch and comment. I’m glad ya enjoyed it. Take care my friend and do come again, please
Zach I think June is going to be the better mule , but you just never know good job and really enjoy a good team of mules.
Thank you very kindly! And yes, I do believe in the end she will be the better mule for sure. I have said that all along… The harder they are to break, usually the better they are. Thank you my friend for taking time to watch and comment. And thank you for the kind words… Take care and do come again, please

Another great video. Amazing progress for only 2 days. Obviously not your first rodeo.
True words there. Good or bad they are learning every time you interact with them.😊
Yes ma’am, you were right! Thank you again for taking time to watch and comment. I appreciate it… Take care and do come again please
Hope the bad weather missed ya, let us know. God bless.
We’re in good shape my friend! Thank the lord. Just got some much needed rain. Thankful and blessed. Thanks for asking! Take care my friend

Your babies are so lucky to have you breaking them
Thank you ma’am. I try my best to do right by all of them and give them a good education. And make them worth something!
I believe you’ve put the “quietus” on them as we say around here.
Yessir, just about. Time and sweat will get’er did. Thanks for the kind words and watching! I appreciate it. Take care and do come again, please
Zach why use the spreaders instead of the top rings? Wonderful video.
Sorry you didn’t get to go to church with family. Be blessakated and Jesus love you and we also. 😅😅

Junes just a nawing that bit
Yes ma’am, both of them do it at different times. It is just anxiety. That all will go away with time and the (harness) and work. Thank you ma’am for taking time to watching comment on my videos as always. I appreciate you! Take care and do come again, please.
Awesome job. Seen beagle dogs in the pen, they chase a rabbit or just pets?
Thank you sir! The beagles are just pets for the kiddos. Thanks for taking time to watch and comment. Take care and do come again, please
Great video on training mules ! I was curious as to how many hours you wanted to work them each time they are hitched?
Thank you and I’m glad you enjoyed it. That makes it work doing. I usually try to work them at least 4 to 5 hours every day for the first couple of weeks. Once I have a good handle on them, I will ease up just a little. But in the beginning, I try my best to stay with them as often as I can. Time and (harness) is what it takes… Thank you for taking time to watching comment and for the question. I hope I answered it for you. Take care, my friend and do come again, please
Tractor was good😊 have you sold a lot of bruits?
Thank you sir and thank you for taking time to watch and comment. Take care and do come again, please
How do you decide which mule is going to be on the left or right?
You can watch this video here of some training I did with them a year or so ago.
th-cam.com/video/Cbt0jnXR_As/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Zng47sI2ZBqkwVST
But again, that doesn’t replace working them.
I can see with June and your explanation of how you do things and why it works
@@valeriemacrae8441yes ma’am
Is there a day 3?
They look like they’re bouncing off of each other
Yes ma’am, they will do that in the beginning. They have to learn to stay off of each other…
