affion crockett rapping was hilarious he said” when her momma died I moved inside her crib now it’s my place” then when he gets confronted by Samuel Jackson and says “ what you gonna do in the one with the gun
This movie suffered from lack of promotion, and timing with the election. It’s one of those if you know you know type movies. I disagree about this movie not having quotables all the scenes with Affion are quotable to me. When I think of “fuck them kids” this movie always comes to mind. Me and my girlfriend’s family watched this on Thanksgiving after the Lions vs Bears game.
No quotes?! WHAAAAAAT! not many, but they had them. the whole scene when Sam Jackson was barking, hilarious!.....when Bernie Mac called Sam Jackson "possum face MF'uuuuhhh!!!!". HYSTERICAL!!!
Shortly after this movie came out, my daughter told me that she stole Affion's bars from "Lester The Court Jesta" when she was in high school. She bit the whole joint, and her classmates were big uppin' her like she spit them off the top of the dome. I fell out laughing when she told me this. LMBO...In all honesty, the first hour of this joint had me crackin' up. The rest was "decent," but overall, I enjoyed it. RIP Bernie Mac and Isaac Hayes.
I stopped to answer the question. I saw the movie, however, I don’t think. It was a movie my husband and I went to the theater for. I believe we rented it I think it was because we couldn’t see Samuel L.Jackson singing and dancing. It seemed far fetched. We ended up loving it. I’m going to finish the pod and reply after as well.
I saw this in the movie and loved it. Back then, I wasn't aware that it bombed. I'm surprised because it was Bernie Mac and Isaac Hayes' last performances. That alone makes me think more people would've saw it and spread the word once they saw how good it was.
This movie is hilarious. Here are some fun facts: Samuel L. Jackson’s name was also Louis in Eve’s Bayou & Floyd Henderson was the name of the father on Smart Guy.
Soul men suffered from poor advertising. I remember a few commercials for it when it was already out and then it just disappeared. But I think because Bernie Mac and Issac hayes both died around that time the studio didn’t know what to do.
100 % agree with y'all about this movie 🎥 and yes it was because of Samuel Jackson Rest In Peace 🕊️ 😢 Bernie Mac is the reason this movie was watched and y'all definitely made valid points about how it surprising its not talking about enough I think 🤔 if Robert Townsend directs this movie it would be another conversation about it and received better
I’m hoping for y’all to do more sports movies. I really wanna see ‘The Sixth Man’ and ‘Coach Carter’ Gotta say I would love to hear Jah’s input on both films along with y’all’s
I agreed with the ✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾, however, I thought Lester the court Jester scene was funny. Sharon Leal was a Dream Girl and held her own with some really big talent . She had a soft voice. I don’t think she was bad.
Seen it loved it and so did my family. But yall early breakdown is correct . It def is a single serving movie. I seen it a handful of times and haven't came back to it or seen it in years
I feel like nobody was interested in seeing Samuel or Bernie singing. I did see it eventually. The trailer did not draw me in. I went for lack of anything better to do that day. I did enjoy it but quickly forgot about it afterwards. Not much of a story just some funny interactions.
Its a classic for me and the wife. $20 of that $12 mil came from me😂. We were dating when we went to see it and it is "our" movie. We quote it all the time. "Fuck them kids" definitely came from this movie. Lastly, yall might eventually touch on it but I cant believe yall got 15 minutes in without mentioning that this was Bernie's last film. Makes it even more confusing as to why people didnt come out.
This movie is cult classic and the cult is growing. My family watched this at many get togethers. And I repeat lines from this one. I hope more people get hip on Soul Men
While I understand the points you guys make about Lester and his crew, to me, sometimes, even the strongest of women link up with jackarses. Unfortunately, that's a real thing. And yeah, I know Affion was a little over the top, but I am sorry, that fool made me laugh. I am not a fan of actual c--ning at all. But I guess when he's linked up with Jackie Long and the other big swole cat, the movie sort of lends itself to some tomfoolery.
affion crockett rapping was hilarious he said” when her momma died I moved inside her crib now it’s my place” then when he gets confronted by Samuel Jackson and says “ what you gonna do in the one with the gun
Bro I'm two seconds in and almost spit out my drink from that bed scene My family stay quoting the dog food line

It’s crazy that they don’t think this movie doesn’t have quotes. “F them kids” is something I hear almost everyday. I think of it with my own kids😂😂
The apartment scene is the best part of the movie. Like you said the movie just didn’t carry the same amount of energy throughout the film.
I went to the theater to see this. I have a different take I thought the movie was much better than y’all give it credit for.

I always say Lester the court jester

Man y’all missed out that movie is a cult classic it made it instant because it was it was Bernie Mac last movie. And it’s very quotable 😂
This movie is hilarious. Here are some fun facts: Samuel L. Jackson’s name was also Louis in Eve’s Bayou & Floyd Henderson was the name of the father on Smart Guy.
For Drae, Sam had said, to my recollection, he doesn't refuse a script. It's a paying job, I'm there to work!
I really enjoyed this movie. Sam Jackson and Bernie Mac had amazing chemistry in my opinion. RIP to the goat Bernie Mac 🖤🖤🖤
Soul men suffered from poor advertising. I remember a few commercials for it when it was already out and then it just disappeared. But I think because Bernie Mac and Issac hayes both died around that time the studio didn’t know what to do.
Everybody I know who saw this loved it.

I love this movie but I didn’t see it in theaters. I stumbled on it later
It's crazy because I saw it in the theater and liked it and totally forgot it existed until this popped up.🤣🤦🏿♂️
That box office was tough lol
I didn’t see it… remember it did but completely forgot it existed. Will watch it this week… unless I forget.
I seen it and loved it. One of my favorites. Bernie Mac’s last movie. Isaac Hayes last movie.
Sayin this movie isnt memorable is crazy lmao
I’m hoping for y’all to do more sports movies. I really wanna see ‘The Sixth Man’ and ‘Coach Carter’
Gotta say I would love to hear Jah’s input on both films along with y’all’s
Y’all realize that was Vanessa del Rio the famous adult of the 1980s.
It was funny but your right Tone. I totally agree with your take mayne and for this to be Bernie's last film hurted.
Didn’t realize that that was Vanessa del Rio the famous adult before the 1980s
I know alot of people didn't see this but this is in my top 5 comedies.
My family quotes this movie constantly
I didnt watch this movie in the theater but i did buy it on DVD. Its a classic to me
I agreed with the ✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾, however, I thought Lester the court Jester scene was funny. Sharon Leal was a Dream Girl and held her own with some really big talent . She had a soft voice. I don’t think she was bad.

Saw this movie (honestly on dvd 1st) & LOVED IT!! To this day! 😂😂
Underrated movie

I agree
I think it didn't do too good at the theaters is back in '08 times got hard for a lot of ppl and they just weren't going out too much.
This movie is a 2 at best. Y’all argued it being basically a 1 but it somehow got a 3. Solely off the two main characters.

I do lovr soul men i literally watched it a few weeks ago
This movie is cult classic and the cult is growing. My family watched this at many get togethers. And I repeat lines from this one. I hope more people get hip on Soul Men
i think the thug roll would have been better played by Trech for Naughty by Nature...
This movie was poorly marketed due to Bernie's death. It was just sold as his last movie without giving a taste of what it was.
This movie was unnecessarily shit on ain’t nothing better than Lester the court jester
What's up fellas 👍
Tf is Drew talking about 🤨 see that's why I miss Jah!
Plus I was nine when it came out

This movie was bootlegged to death… this was like soul plane
Soul Men is funny as hell but definitely an underachiever
Funniest movie from either one
Yall sound old and out the loop tbh Soul men a hood classic
