Did my install last weekend and followed your video without a problem. Will be tackling my downpipes next and have been reviewing your DIY on that install. Keep up the great work!!!
Haven't you connected the hoses the wrong way round into the catch can? Crank case fumes are to go straight into the can and not through the baffle. Then oil vapor rises and most of the heavier carbon heavy gunk stays at the bottom due to gravity and then the baffles essentially filter out more from the rising oil by filtration and the oil condensing on the (relatively) cool metal baffle.
Great tutorial as usual. But may I suggest when removing pcv clips, heat may not work. And you still have to pull on an old and probably brittle clip. Take the same razor used to trim the tube and slice longitudinally down to the plastic clip. It comes right out with no stress or risk
Crazy Car Mods thanks for the reply! I used a normal hair dyer not heat gun and worked perfectly. Just take your time and works like wonders. I was going to do the lighter trick for the backup just in case it didn’t work haha!
@@ebmotorsport2006 No prob man, I always try to answer all comment and questions. Good thing is that it works 😎, and it's always good to have different options on how to get it done 👍
hey man don’t know if you could help, but while installing the catch can i realized one side of my OUT hose was bigger than the other, causing the small piece from the original hose not to fit. i watched another video, bms kit, and his was like mine and he just slipped it on without the small piece. so i ended up doing the same thing and now my engine makes a loud ticking noise (louder than the normal tick) from the top/backside of my engine. not sure if it had anything to do with my installation or the catch can but i figured i would throw it out there in case you knew anything about it.
Thank you so much Ron 💯 👍 I’m not a teacher. I just like putting details and be as descriptive as possible on the videos, so we can all learn and do things our own. I’m glad it helped you out 👌
Hey, I noticed you bypassed the stock PCV hose and connected the supply hose directly to the engine with the stock adapter. This is different than the BMS instructions that state to use the stock PCV hose with the supplied adapter. Do you find your method is better at catching more oil? Rather than having an additional stock tube?
I’ve been fighting what I believe is an oil leak in my 2010 135i. I have had to replace countless parts like the alternator and the serpentine belt 10 times as it gets covered in oil. I have replaced the valve cover gasket and the oil filter housing gaskets. I am unsure where the leak comes from as it comes and goes. I have a stage 2 tune MHD tune, blow off valve, catless downpipes, and a titanium charge pipe. The charge pipe even gets soaked in oil. Do you think having a catch can will solve this issue?
Oh, by the way, on the little piece by the pcv valve, it is best to plug in the house outside of the car rather than having it installed on the engine. Since it may get damaged because of the pressure that is used to slide the hose in.
Nice vid! Will be installing mines tomorrow.I bought the exact oil catch can you bought. Did you not use the included clamps for the hoses, or did yours not come with clamps?
Thanks bro. yeah mine came with the clamps, but I didn't use them, since that part is all under vacuum, so there isn't really a need for them. those hoses go in there nice and tight as well. Also as an additional tip: Before cutting the hose/hoses to size. Put/place the bracket on the strut bar where the oil catch can will be at, tight it firmly and then makes your cuts on the hoses. This way you can avoid cutting it a lil bit to short. (has happen to a few guys). Hope it all goes well 👍

Yeah, This part is called the PCV vent hose. If for any reason you need to buy this part the Part # is 11157553949, you should not be paying more than $30
The pieces you use the lighter on to pull of if one of em breaks do you think it would be good to just use 1? or Should I order or look for 2 new pieces and any suggestion where to get them from?
My suggestion is to have good working pieces since that piece is what is going to be holding your hoses together to your PCV System. If that little piece is broken, then your hoses can losen up and have your PCV system not working properly. To be more specific the name of this piece your referring to is called the "crankcase vent hose". I did a search to see if anyone would sell just the connection endings of this piece but unfortunately you need to buy the whole thing. I found the best price for this piece in Amazon. Here is the link: amzn.to/3h5nEXG You can also find this piece in FCP euro, ECS running and pelican parts, but you will be paying an extra $15.
No. the hose from the pvc / crankcase side goes to the non filter side which is IN and then the flow with go in to the occ then through the filter and OUT through the filter side to the intake manifold. You can double verify to see can see it for yourself with the pictures of a BMS OCC.
I might do that install possibly down the line. I got some parts and maintenance I got to get done on my to do list. Are you looking to get that install yourself?
@@CrazyCarMods yes im doing both. I dont want any oil consumption in my valves . I want the car to breathe. Great videos by the way keep it up. Your channel is going to blow up. What maintenance do you have to do? I just got my 335is last week
Thanks man. I have to do the valve cover, plugs and coils, valve cleaning (I will be doing this without walnut blasting it) to save money but will have similar results. Rotors and pads and all fluid changes (oil, transmission, power steering, coolant) and somewhere in between get it tuned and dyno. I just a lil bit of work cut up for myself 😂 Just make sure to do your research first. There are alot of guys that have issues for cutting corners. They simply start slapping parts, without taking care of other stuff first. By the way, welcome to the fam 🎉 Your gonna love your car. 🏎️💨
@@CrazyCarMods yup i just did a oil change and there is oil all under the under shield and coolant :( cant be good . cleaned it all up and going to see where its leaking from
Yes, I bought it through Amazon, but you can actually find it in either eBay or Amazon. And as I said, it was actually advertised as a BMS Oil Catch Can and it was a USA seller.
So far it has been 1481 miles since I installed the oil catch can ( I just checked, also I only drive on the weekends). I opened the oil catch can at a 1000 miles and I noticed a little oil residue on the inside of the walls of the oil catch can but not enough to puddle. My plan is to do the next check at 2000 miles. As far as fitment or any thing negative, there's not much I can say. It has held good, and fitment was good too. Other thing I have noticed is that in order to see a good amount of oil residue, as you may see in pictures or other results, is that they have run the car for few thousands of miles. I know one guy who had a nice noticible amount but that was after 5 thousand miles.
@@CrazyCarMods sounds goo i ordered the same one but i have a 535 so the bracket wont work ill just have to figure out a different way to mount it once it arrives
Great 👍, Yeah. There shouldn't be any issues. Once I installed mine before placing it in the bracket, it actually looked like I could just leave it like that (without attaching it to bracket). But just see if there is a way you can have it resting on something, rather than having it hanging.
👉👉👉 Link in the description for this same Oil Catch Can (Its no longer advertised as BMS, but its exactly the same one I bought) I guess Burger Motorsports got to them 😂
Well, it turns out that I had a bad o ring from my pcv valve and didn't have a great seal. Which eventually caused a leak. I ended up replacing my valve cover gasket and fixing this o ring recently. The oil that supposed to go to the catch can ended up in the middle section of my valve cover. So nearly no oil in the catch can. I did notice the catch can was oily in the walls but no oil because what I just mentioned. I just did a video explaining this because I may have replaced my valve cover gasket without needing to do so 🤪. Hope that helps bro. Ps: It will be a good idea to check out this video " Warning, Do not replace your valve cover gasket until you watch this" so you won't make the same mistake as I did.
I know man how crazy is that. If you change the o ring gasket make sure that it goes in nice and tight. The dealership does sell just the gasket. But either way bro, it's a good thing to know.
