We have to raise retirement age regardless. When Social Security started off the life expectancy was 64. We live in a world where the average person spends over 1/3 of his life being taken care of by others. That’s unprecedented.
When Social Security started, there were roughly 70 people paying in for every one person receiving, and on average that person receiving was going to live only about five years. Today it's closer to five people paying in for every one person receiving, and that person receiving lives on average 20 - 30 years. So all the trends on the expense side of the ledger are bad. And at some point those paying in are going to rebel at the ever escalating taxes needed to keep SS going.
I would love a $50 dollar minimum wage , but I know the moment that happens , your 50 bucks wont be worth much. Rent will be $5000 and a Big Mac will $25 each and AI's taking your order.

Social Security will always have money, it’s paid for by the current workers after all, the system is currently paying out more than it collects so it’s a simple math problem that it’ll run out in a number of years. A real danger is the old will vote to increase social taxes to prop the program up.
I wish people would realize, the higher the minimum wage, the higher the cost for goods and services. Don’t people understand why Pizza Hut and other companies are laying off thousands of workers when CA raised the minimum wage to $22?
They never will. They only think THEY will get more money, will keep their job, and prices will remain unchanged. These people don’t live in reality. They are incapable of thinking through the downstream effects and how it will impact them.

@@TrumpCantRead Not saying minimum wage has anything to do with budget deficit. Create more businesses, hire more people. More businesses and people working means more taxes for the Government. Create goods that can be sold to foriegn nations, bringing in more money. Place tariffs on goods coming into the United States where the trade deals are disproportionate and unfavorable. Those will have an impact on the budget deficit. The best way is to stop Government spending and cut Government jobs. But we all know that will not occur.

If you don't look at the corporate profit side of this equation you are ignoring a substantial portion of the debate. The disparity between the growth in corporate profits and executive compensation versus the stagnation of the minimum wage contributes just as valid a data point for the ever increasing income inequality we face. Perhaps this is an overreaction to that data, rather than a conspiracy to make your pizza cost more. Action and reaction, you can't just hold one side of a complex issue, you have to also look at the opposing perspective.
Then the more you receive upon retirement. I hope that's your thought process. If not, then it's just another tax on the working class. I know someone that only pays into SS up until about mid September. That's when they pay the max in so payments stop. People say that's BS, they should pay all year. Fine, but when it comes time to collect then that person should get more than the maximum. They pay max in they should get max out. Anything else is just welfare for lower wage earners.
That wouldn't work because then they will just receive more social security payouts when they retire, especially since they will likely be able to retire earlier than most Americans. Heres the real problem: When Social Security started, there were roughly 70 people paying in for every one person receiving, and on average that person receiving was going to live only about five years.
They aren’t allowed to get any benefits
Oh please with your nonsense! Stop believing in liars they have you brainwashed!

Rent is already 3-5k for a decent house depending where you live

SS is always running short because it is not a sustainable program. It started out
that way but quickly lost ground to inflation and demographics. Same for Medicare.
@@edb3877 No government program is sustainable. But this issue can be solved very easily... cut social welfare spending and use it to prop up Social Security.
Social security has been 10 years away from running out of money for at least 35 years.
@@FailsafeZero True, but it's only in the past few years that the amount of Social Security taxes collected did not match the amount of costs of the benefits paid out.
Social Security will always have money, it’s paid for by the current workers after all, the system is currently paying out more than it collects so it’s a simple math problem that it’ll run out in a number of years.
A real danger is the old will vote to increase social taxes to prop the program up.

Did you hear that due to wage increases the prices you see today are the new normal per Janet Yellen!
Nikki voted to raise the retirement age, funny how that these people who have $$$$$$ tell us how to live and retire…
Sounds good. And while we are at it, let's raise a 12 once can of Coke to $10.00.
Everything will be unaffordable, government is a loose canyon they really want America to become a 3rd world country does anyone else see what the government is doing?
Or a $40.00 Big Mack
Both of those products should be more expensive than that with the long term health problems that they cause.
When I was a teen I was amazed when I bought a .15 cent hamburger at artic circle. It was pretty good. Let's run with that a make a super cheap burger for $15. With fries and medium drink a real bargain for $25.00.
wait - you want government to set retail prices nationwide?
If you don't look at the corporate profit side of this equation you are ignoring a substantial portion of the debate. The disparity between the growth in corporate profits and executive compensation versus the stagnation of the minimum wage contributes just as valid a data point for the ever increasing income inequality we face. Perhaps this is an overreaction to that data, rather than a conspiracy to make your pizza cost more. Action and reaction, you can't just hold one side of a complex issue, you have to also look at the opposing perspective.
As for Social Security. Remove the cap on wages eligible for taxation. Tax all wages equally. The more you earn the more Social Security tax you pay.
Heres the real problem:
When Social Security started, there were roughly 70 people paying in for every one person receiving, and on average that person receiving was going to live only about five years.
Today it's closer to five people paying in for every one person receiving, and that person receiving lives on average 20 - 30 years. So all the trends on the expense side of the ledger are bad. And at some point those paying in are going to rebel at the ever escalating taxes needed to keep SS going. SS was never meant to support people for 10,20 or 30 years after retirement.
The minimum wage could be $500/hr, wouldn’t make a difference.
would make a difference to the worker making $500/hr.
@@TrumpCantRead There won't be any employees anywhere making $500/hour because there won't be any jobs for them, got it?
WoooHoooo!!! This roller-coaster is INSANE!!!! 🎢
When you pay people 50 dollars to produce 10 dollars worth of output, this thing called inflation happens and pretty soon 50 dollars is worth 10 dollars.
oh no! gotta be sure those two numbers never match up then!
@@TrumpCantRead Go back and take Econ 101, that's the number you need.
Why did I automatically assume it was a black person that suggested $50 minimum wage increase? That lady has no concept of the cause and effect that would have for everybody. Such a useless idea 🤣
probably because you support Trump, the white christain racist
The higher the wages go the more you will pay for the products and services.
And more value your dollar loses
They think prices of goods and services just fall out of the sky.
or not.
@jeremywilson1155 then dont buy it
@@Dennis-nc3vw donna who "they" are but how does "the sky" drop "prices of goods and services"?
Yeah! Let's do it!
