there are red joints on the wheels, some are not very precise (they are probably larger or longer in tolerance) and cut into the centers of the wheel carrier. Again, the rule of smooth axis rotation
cheers dude. finished the build today and was super disappointed, that the motor wasnt even spinning when moving, only when rotating a single wheel. after flipping the rear diff, i got cracks, but the motor started moving. after flipping the u joints, all cracking went away. (only thing left: gears 2 and 4 behave like neutral, probably missed a part/gear somewhere but whatever lol)
No problem, I'm really glad this video is still helping people out! For your gear 2 and 4 issues, it sounds like it might be an issue with one of the clutches in the gear box. You can take a look at them by opening the tailgate and lifting the rear seats. Should see the clutch pieces moving when shifting gears. Hope this helps!
I got this set and I loved it u built it but the only problem is that when. I turn that thing on the roof to turn ur wheels, it doesn’t turn for me idk why

I used to have mild cracking on 2nd, 3rd and 4th gear going forwards, but now I have cracking on 2nd, 3rd and 4th gear on hi going forwards, and intense cracking when going backwards in any gear. @@MrLukeMedia I switched the differentials to the passenger side and made sure that the u-joints were in the correct position. I also spent ages checking that nothing was loose. There is a slightly loose 2x1 round and cross axle piece on the underside right at the rear in the middle on the underside of the car but I’m not sure if that’s a mistake or not
@@MrLukeMedia I rewatched racing bricks video and found that something is wrong at the verification steps at step 321. When I rotate the shaft coming from the front axle, the front wheels spin but the rear wheels stay still. According to the video the rear wheels should spin in the opposite direction to the front wheels, but instead the central differential spins, preventing the rear wheels form spinning. If I hold the central differential in place and then rotate the shaft, it works as it should. I don’t know why the central differential is spinning when it shouldn’t be or how to fix it. Also, when I spin one wheel, the wheel on the same axle on the other side isn’t spinning the other way but the central differential does start spinning (again, it’s not supposed to do that). Only switch them around if they aren't already in the correct orientation (refer to the manual). If it's cracking both in forward and reverse, I would recommend checking the joints on the drive shafts, they should be lined up with each other.
I’ve got a problem with the gearbox at the back. The very back two grey gears squeak when your in low gear and the speed goes fast and then slow during when it’s squeaking any suggestions? There is also cracking in fourth gear when your in the low gear mode
Hi Luke, so I was having this same issue with the cracking noise so I gave it a good push and now it’s fixed but a piece broke off of it and now the gearbox and diffs doesn’t work at all. If you can help me out it’ll mean a lot to me because I spent about 4 days building this thing.
if you want to know how you can solve the problem 100%, you need a metal cardan joint from CADA. Replace it with one made of plastic and no more cracking
Check that they are facing the right way per the instructions, and then make sure to try the other fixes mentioned in the video. You can also check out RacingBrick's video which covers some fixes I did not cover. Good luck!
the tolerances are very tight on these. Be sure to check your differentials directions, as well as the connection of the joints in the two drive shafts.
Because it's an accurate model of a rover. I've resorted to using plastic-safe dry lubricant by now. If you haven't checked racingbricks video already, he covered some things I didn't.
@@zaeemvszaina1926 have you been through all the tricks in racingbricks video as well? I'd go through his tips first before trying mine, mine were secondary to the ones he went over. The biggest thing is having the joints on the two drive shafts properly aligned, and then having the diffs properly aligned.
That doesn't seem right... Reverse is suppose to bypass the transmission and go straight the engine, the transmission should not have any effect when in reverse
@@mike_klein. That is because of the gear backlash. Given the huge number of gears in the model, there is a tiny bit each one will freely spin before starting to push the next gear. Added up, all of the gears will take a little bit of driving until they start spinning the engine.
@@mike_klein. You can most likely fix this by checking the joints on the two drive shafts. They should both be facing the same way, that is where majority of the backlash lies

Amazing fix to switch the diffs to the other side! Going in reverse at 4th gear now has cracking, but that matters little. :)

I built for the first time, riding without cracking. Free smooth movements of the axes are important. Dice and pins snap to the end .

How do I know if the axles are connected properly?
They should be in the same orientation. Racingbricks has really good video on tips to fix it, the tips in this video were some that he didn't mention.

Only switch them around if they aren't already in the correct orientation (refer to the manual). If it's cracking both in forward and reverse, I would recommend checking the joints on the drive shafts, they should be lined up with each other.

@@MrLukeMedia ive anchored the piece that holds the axle to the beam upper it, and switched gear ratio from 3:1 to 2:1

so in only have problems with the reverse gear in the second and first gear but all other gears are fine
