I feel like when I was a kid in the 90’s the tubs were actually metal tins and they were huge filled to the brim. Felt like a true Christmas luxury treat 🍬
You can get metal tins of quality street at least and they are still filled to the brim. At the low prices you can get these tubs the amount you get is actually still decent
We might all have our favourites, but I think we can all agree shrinkflation when it comes to chocolate is an absolute travesty. Confectionary companies are so out of touch with consumers to think shrinkflation is the best way to go when you have to increase prices. And then having the cheek to claim its partly health related.
Why weren't you just born rich? You'd appreciate cap ita lism more if it gave you the power of life and death over the wor king class, like billio naires have
1:16 childhood memory unlocked. When I was a lad, our little poodle used to pinch the toffee pennies. Mum always ended up fishing the last bits that got stuck between his teeth.
I found your channel when i saw your "£10 on only ASDA Essentials" video, and ive sat and watched about 6 videos since finding it today. Just want to say thanks for the wisdom and the great content you earned my sub in the first 3 minutes. im 22 and a single father and your budgeting videos have given me some great insight that im definitely going to be using for myself, thanks from all of the people like me, or, in similar situations who you continue to help and advise.
Quality Street followed by Roses for me. I'm personally don't see the point of mini version of chocolate bars that are already available all year round.
17:30 eclairs aren’t meant to be bitten/chewed!!! they’re a melting candy. the chocolate gets warm and fudgy, it’s so good. just suck on it for a while or leave it under your tongue.
Celebrations are literally just mini chocolate bars. This is probably why the discontinued the S++++ Tier Galaxy Truffle as the others are made year round whereas the truffles only made for the tubs.
i don’t understand why they’d remove the galaxy truffle from celebrations AND then not sell a solo truffle bar at all. that flavor profile is just completely gone (apart from one year during easter, they released DELICIOUS truffle squares that looked like mini presents)
This is interesting to watch. As an American, i can say we have nothing like this. We have regular assorted boxes of chocolates but nothing like selection packs. Very cool.
Im going for the m&s big mix this year. The shiny wrapper swings it .I appreciate the environmental benefits of the dull ones but its just not christmassy. Im tempted to tip them into an old retro quality street tin and pretend im ten years old again.
I don't buy any of the tubs these days as most of them never get eaten. I buy a large box of Black Magic chocolate at Christmas but rarely eat chocolate the rest of the year. I agree with you about Nestlé milk chocolate but I do like their dark chocolate. Unfortunately I am unable to eat M&S chocolate of any sort as every time I've eaten it I have had a migraine afterwards and that includes their chocolate biscuits 😢Love your videos BTW.
I keep seeing people slagging off the toffee penny which is by far the tastiest and classiest choice. I don’t love Heroes or Celebrations, it’s mad how a small version of something tastes so much worse than the normal size version.
My personal favourites for each tub: Quality Street: Purple One, Green Triangle Roses: Hazel Whirl, Hazel in Caramel, Signature Truffle Celebrations:Galaxy, Galaxy Caramel, Snickers Hereos: Creme Egg, Cadbury Caramel (Love a double decker but sadly the Dinky Decker doesn't hit the same without the nougat)
Toffee penny used to be my favourite as a child. In adulthood I discovered the purple one and green triangle. No going back. Always preferred Dairy Milk and Roses to Quality Street 😋
Quality street is ironically garbage, I don’t really eat chocolate that much, not really a sweet tooth but I probably would go with Heroes or Celebrations.
Uhhh quality streets. Love the fudge, the green triangles and a few others. I’m also more of a Lindt chocolate girl so Christmas Santa or reindeer-rabbit.
Just depends on personal tastes I guess, They really do make these tubs for everyone, My favourites are the Strawberry and orange creams and the orange chocolate crisp. And a toffy penny
Thanks for comparing the chocolate boxes. I think I prefer the Cadbury chocolates to the Quality Street to be honest. Having had many years of trying various different chocolates I must say I think I prefer them! It's a shame that Lidl or Aldi don't do like a big selection tub. A few years back someone gave me a gift of a tub from Morrisons which was their own brand and not bad at all!
really number of sweets in packet or tin for price. the tubs have dropped again this yr to 550g of sweets. there was a bag offer which have 300g in for two bags for a £5. then many of the tubs are weighted with more of cheap chocolates. when you wait another year the snicker bar etc size will be a standard sized bars..
Nestlé chocolate is naff, Cadbury has gone right downhill since they were bought out by the americans. Celebrations are the only ones I feel have consistently been good throughout my whole life. For me it's 1) Celebrations 2) Heroes 3) Quality Street 4) Roses
Did you feel sick after all that chocolate? Some chocolates have to be eaten by sucking the outer layer of chocolate first. If you do this with malteaser the inner part dissolves deliciously on your tongue. But I couolnt eat so many at once. A herculean effort!
Quality Street are definitely not as festive with the paper wrappers - and chocolate definitely doesn't taste the same now. Heroes and Celebrations for me. I actually feel a bit sick after all that chocolate! Safe to say I'm not a chocoholic!
Celebrations were always the best, followed by Heroes, Roses then Street, Nestle just like everything Nestle do, kinda sucks (And an even bigger crime than all the awful crimes is not putting a fucking Kit Kat in) then they slowly removed all of the best ones, topic went first, then galaxy truffle, then they did something weird with the malteesers if memory serves. Honestly upgraded to an actual chocolatier these days, don't miss the cheap stuff, especially as it's not even that cheap anymore. However truly the ultimate was getting one of each and just mixing them all lol

@ oh no I think you misunderstood me !!! I totally get that Sam ! I meant . You know the videos you do already £2 a day , budget meals . Like that but Christmas themed ! I really think that would go super well!!
Sam bringing the Christmas video's by the barrel load happy days although have to hard disagree with you, I heavily dislike fudge so none would be in my S tier and don't like any Strawberry flavored sweets barring the Haribo giant (and mini) Strawbs (not the softies though they're yuk too)
We desperately need to stop normalising shit like “This is £6 nowadays unless you have a club card”. No. It isn’t. It is artificially inflated and the “Clubcard” price is the normal price.
Sam is lovely but he's wrong aboit quality street... green triangle and purple one are top tier with the fudge and coffee/coconut anything should be off the bottom of the scale (amen about the nestle choc though). Celebrations perplex me as I also prefer galaxy and love malteasers, but hate snickers and bounty, and nit fussed about twix. He said he likes double deckers... just no, but I do agree about wispa texture.

The fudge and green triangle are the best quality streets. I also love eclairs

I love a green triangle but they're tiny this year. The slogan for snickers is "you're not you when you're hungry"
I have to agree with you. Your top ones are all my favourites too. 😊
Love toffee penny's
Have to respectfully disagree about Wispas, my all time favourite!
My personal favourites for each tub:

Roses: Hazel Whirl, Hazel in Caramel, Signature Truffle
Celebrations:Galaxy, Galaxy Caramel, Snickers
Hereos: Creme Egg, Cadbury Caramel (Love a double decker but sadly the Dinky Decker doesn't hit the same without the nougat)

You used to be able to get eclairs in a roll kind of like fruit pastille and the coffee cream was apparently Ltd edition last year.
The best is when you give away the ones you don't like and combine your favourites into one tub.
I adore anything toffee. Caramel too. Yummy. ❤
Love your videos! can you do a challenge of living off Lidl's Simply budget range?
In Heroes I would remove Eclair and Twirl and put in Boost and Timeout.
Eclairs my fave!
