I'm pretty sure it's that Arsene hitbox is hitting Sephiroth's sword hurtbox, but the kill screen puts Seph into his hitstun animation which retracts his sword so it looks extremely jank.

I see now, the real reason why Shulk counter is so bad is because if it was any better Smash Monado Art + Counter + Rage would be as fucking ridiculous as Corrin's unnerfed Sm4sh counter.
They actually severely nerfed Shulk's counter, it used to pierce shields in Smash 4 while rivaling Corrin's counter at the sides. Unfortunately, that means his counter now has all the drawbacks of being janky and kinda slow without anything to make up for it.
Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm 99% sure that the "crushing counters" series is yet to feature a clip from a mii brawler, the character with the most chad counter in the game.

Sora's counter is massively effective when it comes to perfect timing. That's how you know that he may have some flaws, just by alone his weight, but he certainly makes it up for it with his moveset. He is really a balanced character, you just need to take alot of time and patience with him.

Can someone please explain to me how at 0:35 Shulk is able to switch to fast (like instantaneously really) from speed to smash, while speed was not over.
I have read that to cancel an active montado art you must tap B 3 times, plus 5 in the case of the smash monado art.
Is there a way to specifically select which monado art without tapping so much?
Dial storage. Shulk takes somewhere like 11 frames to open his monado arts dial to select an art. If you briefly press B but it doesn’t open the arts menu you can “save” the frames of start up meaning you can switch arts much earlier. Shulk has some moves that can allow a perfect 10 frames of storage if you cancel into them making some of his dial storage monado changes frame 1.

It's crazy, so because sephiroth's whole sword has a hitbox and because it's so dang long, Joker was able to counter it from that distance. A lot of these counters overall are pretty crazy to pull off like for example the one where Joker counters both Ness and Daisy (or was it Peach?) at the same time
