@@healspringy6300 it was only a skirmish, the Vietnamese forces never planned to invade Thailand but only to wipe out the remaining Pol Pot and other militias rallying at the Thai-Khmer border. Therefore, Thailand was kinda failing the skirmish due to their bigger casualties gap.

@@MossedGaming That "bigger casualties: gap can be also applied to the Vietnam War itself, the NVA lost more than the U.S and it's allies and yet still won. Thai other hand was holding the Cambodians refugee. The only trouble here was it also a foot hold for the Khrmer Rouge and the KPNLF. And also since Thai also saw the potential threat from the Vietnamese who occupied and installed a pro-Vietnamese/Maxist party (which also led by the former KR members) and feared that they will have another war (guess who supported the Thai communist party) and they had to stand against the Vietnamese
