MK9: Young, brash, wanting revenge for his brother MKX: Wise, cool headed, willing to make peace with Hanzo Hasashi rather than seek revenge MK11: Willing to fight with and avenge Hanzo Hasashi, fights for his entire clan rather than just his brother and a title, rather than ostracize Cyrax for being a cyborg, he's willing to take him back to the Lin Kuei cyborg or not.
Why else would he be in Outworld at the beginning? He was already on the run from his ninja clan because of the cyber initiative, revenge would be the only reason and he isn't brash he just wants to fight his brother's killer. He'd never be against Cyrax because Cyrax was forcibly converted.

Also, there's a little thing called a character arc, aka, the hero's journey. Cassie at the start of MKX wouldn't have beaten Shinnok, but Cassie grew as a person, squad commander, etc., throughout the game, and THAT Cassie was able to beat Shinnok.

I realized this was a test the second Sub-Zero spoke and it was still awesome. I have to give Netherrealm credit, with few exceptions that really nail the look, style and voice acting of their characters. Every aspect works and in general, they all work together flawlessly.
Because he is. Scorpion earned his Grandmaster title when he did what Sub Zero did first: restore their clan. Sub Zero has much more experience and he is much stronger than Scorpion. Not to mention Sub Zero has more overall wins against Scorpion as well.

I always find it weird how MKX and MK11 characters are so different. Like Cassie isn’t the same character, much more bubbly and sarcastic compared to how much more serious she is in MKX
