how do you make a rivere on a map that has terrain that isnt perfectly level? my map has a gradual decline of about 100 meters from end to end, which should allow for a river to flow down hill (as it does in the real life location its based on) but any river i make just floods everything downstream cause its lower in height

It requires a gradiant level, in other words one end is higher than the other. In the water tab on the heightmap website there are some things you can configure. But I haven't used them.

I need some help placing water for my map of Longview/Kelso, WA I got it from a height map... the game will not let me level the terrain down further for a more pronounced riverbed (The Columbia River), making the water surrounding my buildable area, leaving an obvious square for the buildable area, water, and then the mountains in the buildable area/worldmap. Tips?

In your map editor change the 4096 to a higher number maybe 6000. That will raise the level of your terrain. OB

@@oldbore I did. It's at 9000, and the mountains look great, but the river is STILL super low. I got my height from ur last tutorial on terraining, instead of saying the minimum height is 9000 or smth, when I get the level terrain tool, it says the minimum height is 0, and it won't go below that.

@Ziiav747 Yo no way! I'm doing Vancouver right now hahah, anyway just waned to say im having odd stuff too, like random holes and such. Did you click the box for " use mapbox for heightmap source " ? I followed another vid that walked me through that process with Mapbox, you have to link a card but its a free service, i guess this was what we used to have to do . I have the Token so ill be trying that optional part.

@Ziiav747 all ive been able to work out is that since we are unique and were at sea level , thats what were going to get for columbia river is sea level for the depth from the terrain sites. no matter what settings i change its doesnt change that fact, so all ive done is just some huge sea water sources for the columbia, and just let it be that.
