3 Easy DIY Rabbit Toys for Your Bunny

- Hi! In this video, me and my rabbits, Haku and Bizu, show you how to make 3 super easy homemade diy rabbit toys and you won't have to spend any money to do it! Hopefully, this can be a fun activity for you and your rabbits to do together.
Bunnies need to be kept mentally and physically active to stay healthy. These cute rabbit toys will keep your rabbits entertained and they look cute playing with them.
Also! A kind person pointed out that string should not be used for the "hay on a string" project. Use rabbit safe twine or natural untreated sisal string/twine instead to be cautious!
Info on these rabbits:
Haku - rabbit breed: Holland lop rabbit who loves to nap and dig
Bizu - not sure but very cute and wise (and if anyone has a guess on rabbit breed let me know)
Both bunnies love snacks and cuddles
Both rabbits have lived in rabbit cages (which isn't the best option), been free roam rabbits, and now live partially in a rabbit pen and free roam.

your bunnies are so cute! i really like all 3 of these ideas. i've been trying to figure out the right thing to use in a digging box as we have wall to wall carpeting in the apartment but shredded paper is a great idea!

I made the ball for my buns and instead of rolling it around the room they took turns grabbing with their teeth and shaking it until the treats fell out! They really enjoyed it and it was cute as heck to watch. Lovely video.

Thank you! I have all these things now, string and construction paper and all. 😅My rabbit loves to throw around toilet paper tubes so those balls are brilliant. She is free roam too and under my bed is all open for her with TONS of cardboard. But I love that box idea. Cuz I do want to give her as much enrichment as I can. I just got her a few months ago…..and let’s just say the people I got her from….should not have had her. Put it that way. So she’s slowly coming out of her shell. Thank you again!!

Thank u for watching! And i would recommend having a large, cat sized litter box that is always stocked with their favorite type of hay that is healthy for them. Luckily rabbits learn really quickly and like to have a designated space to use the bathroom. Its also helpful to notice where your rabbit enjoys to use the bathroom in their enclosure or room and then putting the litter box in that spot. Hope that helps!

I had the shredded paper dig box for a few years before this and I just gotta say, change the paper often! She plays in it so much that it starts to get pulverized and then turns to dust and makes her sneeze. My little bun butt is also a little butthead who finds it fun to meticulously throw as much out of the box as she can! She piles it all by the entrance, then stand on top of the pile and throws it all out on the floor, then goes down to the floor and shoves that pile across the room. Then she goes to get more to make the new pile even bigger. 😂

Love this video! For the digging box is it okay for them to to use the shredded paper? What if they start eating it?
Good question! So it depends on the type of paper and how much they eat. If it’s dyed (like the one I used) it should be removed if they try to eat it. If it’s shredded brown paper (like a brown paper bag) according to a vet I spoke to, it’s okay if they eat some on occasion. But if they’re eating a lot, it’s best to be careful and remove it.

I dont cut the roll, but when im done with a toilet paper roll i put treats or greens or pellets in the middle and stuff hay in the outside ends so they gotta eat the hay to get to the good stuff. it keeps my buns occupied for ages

Hi!! My bunny doesn’t play with any of the toys I bought her or made for her 😔 I’m afraid she’ll lack stimulation and start going crazy or something because I’m at work 8-5 😩 What could I do to have her be entertained if she refuses to play with anything?
It can be difficult to find toys ur rabbit likes! They’re a little picky and I’ve had to try a couple different ones to see what works. Firstly, rabbits typically are less active around noon, so ur rabbit probably gets a couple hours of lounging and napping in then. But for the rest of the time ur gone, I would recommend finding some enrichment toys that are also treats. Oxbow has some great options like their Timothy Lollipop and Timothy Apple Slice. Also sometimes rabbits don’t like toys but they like destroying thing so some plain cardboard boxes, paper towel rolls, and brown paper bags may work. And probably the best stimulation is getting them a rabbit companion. I know it’s not always possible so I hope these other suggestions help!
I find that my rabbit looses interest in the cube toys quickly. She'll get all of the food then loose interest until I put food back in. She also isn't super interested in a digging box unless I put food inside or she'll do her business inside of the digging box

Don't use ribbon - use animal safe twine - they can eat it and it safe for them and its stronger than ribbon.

I make my bunnies digging boxes and they love just chilling in it but just be warned that they will use it as a litter box lolll. My little boy peed in his and I wound up having to throw it out because it was very stinky wet cardboard 😝
I tried the ball thingy and I- my bunny got the carrots out so fast 🤣 but he loved it he and I also tried the string thingy he is loving it I just made him one again today. Thank you for these diy toys I hope u can make more

Depends on the size and material of the ball! They make balls made of materials that is ok for bunnies to chew. And any toy given to a bunny should be large and sturdy enough that they can't break off pieces and swallow them because it could be dangerous

Awhhh man is soil a rabbit safe diggging material? I dont have. Apaper shredder......ive heard u can fill a shallow planter bowl with digging material so they can play but

Yes i should've included it in the list! As long as the soil does not have any fertilizers or chemicals and is soft and dry, it is safe for them to dig in

im cash strapped and didn't plan on getting another bunny until i found people who over bread their rabbits and eat them. The bunnys live in an absolute mud pit. it is disgusting to me. i would take them all but i only have enough money to take one baby in now.. but ONE DAY WHEN I HAVE FINSHED BUILDING MY BUNNY KINGDOM I WILL GO BACK AND TAKE THEM ALL
