    The parents of that louder little boy should invest in his math studies, he seems to be really good at it. At first, he thought 43+8 and gave the answer right away, but then he saw his mistake and corrected himself to 35. As a former math teacher, it's impressive indeed for his age. Maybe a future engineer we are seeing here.

      Agree! So impressed!

    • @pasc8699
      @pasc8699 2 ปีที่แล้ว +33

      I’m sure they do and that’s why he’s good at it at that age. Kids don’t have raw talent at math like that. It’s a learned thing

    • @lost9050
      @lost9050 2 ปีที่แล้ว +57

      @@pasc8699 Well, I really hope so. But I want to correct you when you say that children learn and don't know, as if it didn't also depend on their ability, with a great mathematical example: Gauss.
      Gauss for me is one of the most important figures in science, perhaps even greater than Einstein. The amount of stuff in science you find with his touch is absurd. Mathematics, physics, engineering, statistics, my god.
      The story tells that he came from a very poor family in 1777 in Saxony (situating historically, in pre-French Revolution Germany and the US War of Independence had just begun, that is, zero educational investments and education was even more elite than which is today)
      So, when he was 7 years old he entered the school and we know the famous story that the principal passed the challenge to those kids of counting the sum from one to a hundred (like when we give small activities for the children to be quiet for a while haha) and Gauss answered 5050 in a matter of seconds. All because he realized that the sum of the first and the last term was 101 (1+100, 2+99, 3+98) and as there were 50 pairs of numbers from one to a hundred, the account could only be 5050 (base of Arithmetic Progression). The director himself recognized the boy as a genius and from then on began to invest in his education.
      And well, Gauss turned into this ''mathemagic'' monster that many of us will not even come close to his feats someday hahaha. I told the history just because I don't know if you knew that for sure, so if I'm preaching the prayer to the priest, I'm really sorry.

    • @lost9050
      @lost9050 2 ปีที่แล้ว +27

      @@pasc8699 I'm not trying to claim that the boy is a new Gauss, even for the absurd pressure people would put on him if they saw him that way that would be horrible.
      What I'm trying to say is that it's possible to observe certain aptitudes at this age, because each one has its own type of intelligence (which is something related to genetics too, a complex relationship between inner and external components). I like to observe children precisely because they act like mini-adults in terms of personality and it is possible to observe mechanisms similar to those of adults at such a young age.
      I had students that I felt almost like I was stealing money from their parents, the students were so good at math which is my area that I didn't even have to make an effort to teach them something, the slightest push and they could already sketch everything in logical reasoning. For other children, the traditional method wouldn't work even with prayers, so I had to work really hard to understand what was their learning method to transform the mathematical language into the same language they used. It worked most of the time. I think that in all these years there was only one case that I actually abandoned, exclusively because the child was not open to learning, and then it was a waste of time for both the child, the mother, and me.
      But many of these children who had little aptitude for mathematics and called me to meet this need had other intelligence since they were little, whether for sports, arts, biology (KOMODO DRAGONS).
      Recognizing this aptitude and then working on it can generate great professionals and researchers (it's coach time! hahaha). It is the opposite process of what you said, it is not teaching that generates aptitude, it is an aptitude that should guide the type of teaching. We can learn a lot of things in life, even those we struggle to understand. But in some fields, we will have an easier path just because we have this aptitude.
      Sorry for the long text, but I wanted to explain the better I could what I was trying to say. Thank you for your attention.

    Kids are so smart!! And I’m both happy and sad to see how many of them (also in other videos) seem to care a lot about our environmental crisis - happy ‘cause it’s important and it’s wonderful that these are the values of these kids, but sad because it’s a little sad that even children have to worry and that we’re at such a bad point with our environment. It’s makes me think of my younger sister who has really bad climate anxiety - it’s tough because you can’t just say that the worries aren’t true. Anyways, this took a bit of a depressing turn lol, but I really do love these videos, kids are wonderful❤️ (and the interviewer is so lovely too!)
