    This video saved me a ton of money and troubleshooting. My house is set up just like this. I was trying to unclog the drain from the line by the condenser. Turns out my clog was right when I removed the rubber hose from the drain under the sink. Thanks so much!!

      The Primary AC line was clogged. This happens over time as dirt and dust move off the coil with condensation and into the drain line. Over time it builds up and develops a blockage.

    I have one of those black hoses under our kids sink directly below the attic where the evaporator coil is and another black hose under the master sink. I’m guessing the black hose under the kids sink is the primary drain line???

    If your bathroom sink has a slow flow (most likely need to clean/change aerator) does this have an effect on the blockage or does the blockage in the primary line cause the sink to have a slow flow?

    • @HowitsdoneHandyman
      @HowitsdoneHandyman  10 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

    How do I find the leak If the filter in the furnace is damp when I changed it last night and it's usually dry and not damp but it's usually dry any advice

    • @HowitsdoneHandyman
      @HowitsdoneHandyman  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If the filter is in the furnace I'm guessing you have a vertical furnace and the filter is underneath. If that's the case your primary drain is probably clogged and the overflow from that is making the filter damp. I would recommend opening up the access panel to the coil and see if there is water in the bottom of the unit. If so you need to clear the drain line. the steps in this video should help with that. If not it's likely more involved than I can get into here and you may need to call someone out.
      Hope this helps.

    • @HowitsdoneHandyman
      @HowitsdoneHandyman  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You could try using a screwdriver to help pry the hose free of the barbs. If it's been on there a while they can really be stubborn.

  • @simplehealthtipsforyou8058

    What happens if I don’t have a P-trap in any bathroom, where could the main line drain to?

    • @HowitsdoneHandyman
      @HowitsdoneHandyman  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Honestly, your best bet is going to be to follow the line in the attic and work your way from there. There's any number of places it could go. I've seen people run them to plumbing vent lines and some run straight down the wall where it's inaccessible.

  • @juliocarrillocorrea1039

    I did exactly what you said, but water still coming to the outside. What is wrong?

    • @HowitsdoneHandyman
      @HowitsdoneHandyman  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It will likely take time for all the water in the secondary pan to clear. If the secondary pan in the attic is dry you shouldn't see any drip. You could also leave the primary drain under the sink disconnected and feeding into a bucket to confirm it's draining properly. If it's not, you may have a blockage too large for the shop vac to clear. If that's the case, I would recommend calling an HVAC professional. A large blockage can happen if the unit is deteriorating internally and flakes of rust break off and get lodged against the pipe. An HVAC professional can advise you if this is the case and the steps to take to prolong the life of your unit.

    Could a clog in the AC drain cause for back flow in my sink?

    • @HowitsdoneHandyman
      @HowitsdoneHandyman  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      no, but if the clog is further down the sink drain it's possible the ac condensation could be backing up in the sink. but that would require you to clear the main sink driain.

    So that drain pipe above your window is your primary or secondary drain pipe? Also i noticed your drip pan was dry. My drain pipe above my window is leaking water also and my drip pan has water in it. What does this mean? I tried blowing through the pipe that is next to the drip pan to unclog any debris. It temporarily fixed the issue but every few weeks it happens again. Im a new homeowner and all this is new to me. What should i do?

    • @HowitsdoneHandyman
      @HowitsdoneHandyman  ปีที่แล้ว

      The line dripping in front of the window is the secondary. The primary is the insulated line at 0.22 seconds. Blowing in the line typically doesn't work because it just pushes the blockage back in the unit and will eventually clog again. depending on your setup you may need to block off the vent on the primary to properly clear it. The drip pan under the unit is the secondary drain pan and shouldn't have water in it. If there's water there there's a problem.

    • @HowitsdoneHandyman
      @HowitsdoneHandyman  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Tvo281 It varies depending on how long the line is and how much is backed up in the unit. Normally the clog is cleared within the first few seconds but you want to collect the remaining water in the line so it doesn't get all over. 30 sec to 1 minute should work under most situations.
