      Thanks for watching and commenting! If you use the spreadsheet on Tacoma4g, as long as it keeps working anyway, anyone should be able to find one. There is also someone on that forum selling Tacos anywhere in the US for $2700 under MSRP, with shipping that's probably still MSRP, but if you can get it local to where it's being sold you could save even more! I feel bad for people stuck where it's several hundred miles to another dealer and they don't really have much choice. But other than that, if no one paid the ADMs then dealers wouldn't add them. There will be some people paying a big ADM for a Trailhunter or Pro though!

    Nice video. You're the first I've seen that's really talking about the little details that matter to me (and I've watched a lot of these videos). I have a TRD OR on order (celestial silver for the win, although I'm going with the 6' bed) with the upgrade package (not the premium). I'm also planning to build it out for overlanding. I had a '99 Ford Ranger for 17 years before buying my current '16 GMC Canyon, so we have much in common.
    Reading the owner's manual I notice the 400w AC only puts out full power in neutral or park. When the truck is in drive it's limited to 100w, which is going to be frustrating. I'm curious if that's how it actually works. I was initially excited since I thought I could charge my EcoFlow while driving but it appears it's no better than using the cig lighter power.
    As for Android Auto, I'm assuming you're using it in wireless mode? I'm curious if it is more reliable when wired, but then another frustrating thing is that it appears the only connectivity is the port on the side of the screen, which means a cord hanging down from the dash. The other USB C ports appear to only be for charging. Again, that seems like a poor choice. Is there another data port anywhere, say in the center storage console?
    And one last thing. The three accessory switches. The manual shows where the ends are located but I'm curious if there's a pre-installed plug w/wires that you can splice into or if we're going to have to try and find the proper connector somewhere else?
    Subscribed and looking forward to future updates!

    • @BenInBeta
      @BenInBeta  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      We do have a lot in common. I currently have a River 2 Max that I will run tests on. It's pretty small and I do know there was a way to override that limit on the 23s. I'm planning on a bigger battery, but I'm actually concerned it won't even charge through that outlet as the older versions of that 400 watt outlet were not pure sign wave and and batteries would shut off even when you did stay in park. So we'll see. I think the hybrid will be different because of the 2400 watt inverter though.
      The only data USB-C is that one on the side. In every other vehicle I have had, since like 2013, being plugged in was generally very solid and had no issues. I can try that too, and might rely on that while overlanding if I don't need that port to charge other things.
      Thanks for watching, commenting and subscribing! I'm planning a live stream for next week feel free to ask questions live or hear beforehand!

    Thanks for such great content, it’s always so helpful. I had a ‘98 Ranger for 253K miles and really miss it. I ordered a 2024 TRD PreRunner in Celestial Silver but so far only 5 (seriously, FIVE!) have been built to date and there’s no ETA from my dealer. Congrats on the new truck. I'm waiting on the hybrid version. I do have a question , if you have the auto tailgate , is it possible to deactivate it so it won't drop unless manually done? I'll have a Leer bed cap , if the tailgate deploys unintentionally with the cap door closed and locked it would likely damage the cap door.

    • @BenInBeta
      @BenInBeta  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It no longer operates like a traditional tailgate. It's more like a liftgate on an SUV. I will try a few things though to see what happens. If it senses resistance it should stop though is my understanding.

    Good looking truck you got there.
    The App is okay, the alerts can bug the fire out of you but you can turn a lot of them off under Account > Notifications. I recall when I got my 23 there was also delays in getting notifications. Today, I was at dealership for 5k and didnt get any alerts I had turned on. The truck has a sim in it for connecting to a cell network, so maybe delays there or just buggy issues.
    What are your thoughts on PPF vs Ceramic?
    How about tint? Any plans?
    When will you do your 1st oil change? Or will you take to dealership.
    How does it sound? I understand there is noise pumped in through the sound system? Is that true, and if so, can it be turned off?
    Looking forward to your take after some time of ownership and how you plan to build it out.
    Enjoy the new truck..

    • @BenInBeta
      @BenInBeta  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      First Thank you and thanks for watching and commenting. Yeah I'll get the notifications under control, thanks for that advice on those. I did just connect it to WiFi at home now too, but yes cloud service can be fast or slow depending on how they're implemented.
      I don't have much experience with PPF, my understanding is that they have really come a long way and you can ceramic coat those too. I just don't want to pay for that right now though. Budgets!
      I enjoy coating my car myself and I have enough detailing stuff, I can take care of minor scratches myself too. I'll be doing a graphene ceramic from DIYDetail. In the past I have used the Glasparency graphene coating on 4 vehicles. It was fantastic. So just trying some new. Graphene coatings are easier to apply in my opinion.
      I might add a tint. I have done that in the past, but sometimes they don't get everything clipped in well and then you get a rattle. Again potential future addition.
      Since the oil changes are included for the first 2 years I'll take it in. After that I may do my own maintenance. We'll see.
      The sound system is good, the piped in sound you can hear in the intro montage at the end. It's not that loud, I like that sound, but some will not. There's a device you can attach to the OBD2 port and turn it off or the dealership can for a few I think. What it sounds like on the outside? Stay tuned for the tire video. Just shot first part and haven't gotten to watch it yet, but I had a camera outside too. Again thank you and I plan on doing a. Livestream next week so feel free to pop into that and ask more questions!

      @BenInBeta your welcome, and thanks for the feedback.
      man, I like that color, seen the underground color on others, and didn't care for it.
      when I got my, I had looked at PPF.
      quotes were between 4.5k > 6k
      the 6k, these guys take your vehicle apart on the outside to apply film. The owner said he hated seeing installs with seams or borders. he said that is why he cost the most. He did all my tint work. When I was there, he had just finished a brand new Porsche 4 door, had 21 miles on the odometer. The owners had just picked it up. He showed me the pics of the tear down. He was right. They dismantled it. crazy
      The 6k was the entire truck,, tip to tail.
      I'm still thinking about it.
      anyway, so. how does the motor sound? how's the exhaust sound?
      well, have a good night. I remember the first night I got my Taco. I had traded in my 2001 Tundra(wish I kept it-lol)

    • @BenInBeta
      @BenInBeta  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Having also driven the SR5 with the cloth seats. I think they are both very comfortable, but the softex seats in the Premium are a little more firm than the cloth seats in my opinion. They are also were more adjustable because they were power and had 4 way lumbar instead of two way. If you can sit in both I'd do that since my butt and back might be different from yours.
      But if seat comfort is the only reason you are getting a premium, I'd probably save some cash. I really wanted the MTM system and I didn't mind the cooled seats among other goodies.

    • @BenInBeta
      @BenInBeta  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Well it'll be a little hard to compare it against myself driving since I won't have even gotten through a quarter tank before tomorrow when the new tires go on. That being said I chose to go with the stock size and SL rating as it will take the full payload of the vehicle and is 6lbs per tire lighter with a bette ride quality than the E rated tires. I'm hoping that'll help some. They weigh about 47.5 and KO3s with same rating would be 46. I think the stock tires are around 38 so I'm sure it'll be a hit. I'll have to compare it to the EPA estimates I guess. But I will report back after a few tanks of go juice.

    Maybe I’m just old fashioned. But my phone doesn’t exist when I drive my car. I just focus on the road, lol. One less little bit of technology to worry about working or not.

      There's nothing wrong with that at all, I mostly use it for listening to music or a podcast and a rare phone call, but I don't use the phone at all, it's in my pocket or previously connected to the car via a wire. Everything is projected to the vehicle. I've been using Andriod Auto and CarPlay since like 2013 I think. I definitely am not one those people on my phone in my car. It's not as safe as not even having a phone in your car, but it's far safer than using a phone in your car. I generally use voice commands for everything too so it's hands free and when I use it to send texts sometimes there are some pretty funny unintended responses. Thanks for watching!

      The concept is leave your phone in your pocket, use hands free controlls, open, lock, start, stop, etc and have your Audio and loaded maps just magically turn on the touchscreen. At least that's the concept. So many different phone OS's, hardware, bluetooth version, etc make next to impossible to accomplish all this with a gaurantee it works for everyone.

      Yup it's complicated for sure.

    All the technology is too much for me. I like old school Key start, and much smaller screen. The 4 banger Turbo won’t last as long as the v6 either. The best motor the Taco ever had was the 4.0.

      Why do people keep saying that? Was the 1985 turbocharged 22re a short lived engine? NO! imagizer.imageshack.com/img924/9751/rvn2OB.jpg

    Sounds like a Toyota dealership scam to get you to use the app more so the dealership gets paid when you use their app. Just saying 🤷🏻‍♂️

      The Toyota app or the tracker the other dealership installs on their vehicles?

    TOYOTA FAILED ITS CUSTOMERS!!
    I'm on my fourth Toyota truck, and this is my last. I won't drive unreliable turbos that are expensive to fix when they go bad. The reviews and blogs say it all. 🤮
    BRING BACK THE V8 IN THE TUNDRA & BRING BACK THE V6 IN THE TACOMA!! 🤬

      Unfortunately I don't think that'll happen, but I hope you find the vehicle you need, whatever brand it is.

      @BenInBeta I'll go to Ford. They have a wide assortment of trucks and platforms thar fit customers and still listen to their customers' needs. Sad Toyota has gotten so BIG that they can stop listening to the people who got them to this position in the world.

      The Rangers look really nice too. I wish they would have released when they were supposed to last year. I really wanted to drive one. Enjoy it!

      NIssan still rockin the V6. I love my V6 (2020 TRD), but this new engine is the bees knees. It's not like they just started making them.

      @dogmanky If Toyota would have done a 330hp V6 with a 6-speed it would have been perfect.
