Even last year that wasn't lamars fauilt and thats just being real. It was first yr in the Offense with their OC, the running game was their strength and the coaches gameplanned to throw a lot. it was a bad gameplan by the coaches. Lamar will get the blame but any real fan knows that wasnt all on Lamar. The coaches did that the first two weeks as well and Lamar publicly criticized the coaches and now they have won every game with the best offense. Lamar has full control of the offense. The problem is that defenses are game planning Lamar with last year's film. They are all convinced that the answer to Lamar is zero blitz with single man coverage. The problem is, Lamar is the highest rated player against the pressure now and he gets pressured more than any other QB in football. He has been absolutely scorching the blitz for 20+ each time and they still keep going to it because that's what 2023 film tells them to do. Look for defenses to adjust in the second half of the season by trying to beat him with coverage and disguised pressure. Stunts with 4 or corner blitzes with linemen dropping out. Bringing the house is getting them torched.
The problem really is if you drop back and play coverage we can just run read options all game long since the box won’t be stacked. Or run from the shotgun. The chiefs did that gameplan and were a toe away from choking the win.
Kyle Derrick runs the ball like 15-20 times compared to 30 times a game with the titans we have brought his work load down his numbers are just crazy cause he is getting the numbers but without those extra rushes cause he finally has an offensive line
