Mini Chopper Ride | Custom Built Motorcycle

- I have had a lot of people asking for a video of me riding the mini chopper I built, so here it is. You can see several videos on my channel of the build up of this thing.
This chopper rides very well and will run about 45 mph. The length and rake does make it hard to turn though.
You can also see this build on the website. www.thefabforums.com
Well, very nicely done, sir -- clean and good-lookin'! A couple things bothered me though, I must admit. The open primary looks like a great way to get your pants caught, and have your leg pulled rather rudely into a large mass of rotating metal; I'd be more comfortable with a primary cover on that one. And, the "chain's-eye view" shot made it look like the chain was a bit loose, and dangling your fingers to wave at it is just not a very good idea. Another potential problem area, which could use a chain guard without hurting the looks. Just my opinion on what is obviously a really excellent build.
Seth Tyrssen LOL...Thanks for your concern. I actually agree with you on all accounts of danger. The live primary isn't as dangerous as it might look, but I do have plans of making a cover for it. They also are actually very tight but under power there is just enough stretch to give you the looseness you see. Full size motorcycle chains actually do the same. Thanks for the comments...hope you subscribed.
TheFabForums.com Been a "sub" for a while now, in fact ... and glad to say. Thanks for your reply.
Seth Tyrssen No problem, I always enjoy the feedback
I really enjoyed going through the building process with you, and have subscribed to the "Fab Forums" channel because I glanced over the other videos you have posted (please use 720p, not 360p), and I see a lot of things you are doing that I am interested in. I have a couple (maybe more ;-)) questions for you: 1. Is the faux gas tank made of 3 pieces of metal for each side welded together, or did you form it somehow? 2. What kind of tubing did you use for the frame? 3. Would you recommend aluminum electrical conduit as a motor bike frame building material? Thanks!
Everything is filmed in 1080p...if you are seeing it in 360p its because of your youtube setting. TH-cam will automatically change the res if you dont have a connection fast enough to stream. You can alter these setting in the lower right hand corner of the viewing screen. Eacj side of the the tank was made from 3 pieces of sheet metal. I use mainly 1 inch DOM for the frame. I would not recommend conduit
Thanks for the info and advice, very much appreciated. I had to look "DOM" to see what you were referring to, and thanks for that information. Who knows, you might have saved my worthless hide! :-D Have a good one!
excellent build!!!......ONLY 2K ???.....I think your selling yourself short...I build mini's.....only mini's....so I believe....this 'bike,with a killer paint job...change the bicycle tire tire(sorry,i HATE those skinnys)...could easily fetch 3k plus,,,,one off's are ALWAYS in demand,and because its a one off,price is unimportant......
okay so you know how much better you could have made it look with the 250cc mini chopper rims they sell on that website I was on I typed mini chopper for sale and the first website in there u can buy the rims front and back with tires on them separately from the bike like spare or replacement rims, search dragon mini chopper on TH-cam and you will see how cool the rims I talk to you about are maybe the backbrim would fit this one but not the front you would need a fork for it its wider than that bicycle rim you have there, I helping you out, you put those rims on this one and you would be proud of it, I'm sure you have tought if only it had cool rims right.
All that chain noise would irritate me.
ah its rad....mainly what you hear is the clutches
Hey , just built my first mini chopper wit a built 212 perdator engine. It has a 150/70-13 rear tire. Anyway i can run a wider tire on rear? Ive seen some 200 series on amazon in 13 inch car tire. Will these work on my mini chopper?
a 670cc predator vtwin would've been awesome since its a "chopper"
yeah....its too fast as it is though
How much would it cost to get a frame like that or a bike like that
Hey i hope you can help me out im trying to make my rear end wider for my mini chopper do you know which inside to inside width and the axel hanger size to get
Love the open primary! Never seen that recreated on a Briggs before.
Very Nice to see it finished up! Great Job on it by the way. Yeah, I'd take the 4 grand that Kyle offered you.
Danny Walker Thanks...I dont think Kyle was serious, if he was he never did respond.
Huh, I thought might have a real "Sucker" there lol.
Is it all right to ask how much it cost altogether to build?
I dont remember. I started this project over 10 years ago
The Fab Forums how fast do you figure this thing goes?
A lot of it depends on how much you have to buy new and how much you can find used. Hit some swap meets and garage sales first. You gotta be creative.
One rad bike fella. Cool as fuck
How much does it cost?
look ad em tryin to be like hardley dabid son on dat double chain .lol hehe well dogy
+WarriorCycle's Harley davidson never made a double chain....
Is the front wheel really thick plastic?
Nathan Price yea
Looks awesome and runs smoothly. What did you use for the rear fender?
How do they cost for you to build and send them
Kristopher Pinero I dont actually build them for others. this was just a personal project for me. This one however for sell if someone wanted it.
did you use the brake handle for throttle?
I did. one handle is throttle and the other is the brakes
I love this thing but, if I may suggest, a little upgrading? Beef it up a bit? Possibly upgrading the engine to a larger Predator engine? That skinny front wheel seems a little sketchy to me.. a little fatter wheel & tire maybe? I would love to have something like this. Love you channel BTW!
works great as it is...not sure I will be spending the time to make any changes.
is there any place that i can buy ready made chopper frame thanks
What size are your wheels and where did you get them from?
I dont get why you need so much primary drive chain... a simplex set up would be sufficient, plus I would put guarding on it.... for obvious reasons.... yet apart from that.... I like it! Awesome style :-)
the amount of chain was what was needed to make it look right. will most likely make a side cover for it at some point
Oh ya, the end scene made me wonder......... Those are Chev 350 V8 Cam-Timing double roller chains and crank sprockets both sides??? Those are made to run WET in a constant bath of engine oil- how long do you suppose that primary is gunna last bone dry?
Eclidean They dont run bone dry...I use chain lube on them just like you are supposed to use on every other chain on this planet.
What did you use for a rear tire and rim?
mario parrotta it is a turf / trailer style tire that came as a wheel and tire package from my local import kind of store. 4 lug bolt pattern.
That Master cylinder looks WAY too low, LOL I think I saw it scrape the road a cpl times! Other than a few chain-slack bugs and primary drive guard to work out, looks good!
Eclidean na the frame is lower than the master cylinder....no primary chain guard keeps un wanted people off my bike.
this might be a stupid question but would build one for someone out of the state
would I build one for someone?
+The Fab Forums yea would you
The most I will give u is 700$
Dawson Fenton lol
aaa
I think you need to build a guard for that double roller chain setup. I'm concerned that if it gets ahold of your pant leg it'll drag you right off the bike and mess you up. I think the bike is pretty sweet.
Lol...yea it probably does need some kind of guard. It actually sucked my pant leg in on the video.
Sorry to bother you, but could you by any chance be able to tell me how you attached a sprocket to the tire
mine is attached to the axle it self very similar to the way they are on a go kart
Like a live axle?
@@purdylicous6473 yeah
Jw
how does it feel riding without any shock absorber other than the wheel's elasticity itself?
Rides fine...doesn't even have a seat pad
Bro you have some fab skills! you can make more than 2gz by fabricating frames or rollers ;)
Can only make what people will pay...lol
what is the rear tire and rim size?
Awesome! seeing stuff like this makes me want to learn how to weld.
thanks....you should learn
how many HP ?? Max. speed ??
Питер Опс Its a 5hp Briggs, and I think it will run about 45mph...feels like 80mph when your that close to the ground.
Good ! Thank you!!!)
subscribed
how long is it exactly?
Its 65 inches, axle to axle
What do u want for it
$2200
essa moto é top de linha na estrada
What rear tire did you use? And what was the diameter of the rear axle?
Not sure on the exact size of the rear tire. Its just a mower turf tire. The axle is a 1 inch axle
its pretty sharp lots of thought went into her build
thanks...tried to make something different
How fast does it go
Nathan Price It feels like 80 but its probably only about 45
Do you know the size of the tire and rim? Thanks for the info
mario parrotta no not off the top of my head...I will take a look and get back to you
U wanna sell it
Dawson Fenton Yea I would be willing to sell it
hey ..im from indian
Where can I get a frame too or do I have to build it myself
Marcus Salinas You will have to build the frame your self. I don't know of any for sale. I would sell you the one I built.
How much and where are u located
And are u talking about the black one ur on
Yea
Is it for sale
Catrelia Davis Yea I would be willing to sell it for around $2000
Nice chopper, what r u charging for that?
This is the only one I will make. Its for sale for $2000
how yr butt ?
+badrul hisham good, yours?
need to protect your left leg if you still have it. primary chain guard.
wouldnt be near as cool
The Fab Forums True, it looks very badass.
oh and also how did you set up the rear axle?
its setup just like a go kart would be. bearing on each side with a live axle
Would you sell this? $4000?
yea I would be willing to sell it
can u tell me where u got the rear wheel kit?
Its just a turf tire from my local Tractor Supply type of store
Do you have plans I would like to build one of these but cant find any plans to go by
RantZ_IE I don't have any plans. I basically designed it as I built it.
Ahhh Okay!
is that a 10hp diesel engine?
+Analyn Gualvez no 5 HP briggs
is that a skyway tuff 2 bmx wheel you got on the front of that chop.?
Yeah something close to it
yeah...you probably wont get any closer the forks are bmx too just extended its a great mod and looks good..did you use the wheel for weight reduction....?
No I used the wheel because it was what I could find in the desired size.
Coooool....
thanks
how fast does that thing go
45 mph but it feels like 65
sweet I'm getting a new mini bike soon and it goes around 35 to 40 can't wait, thanks for the quick response man!
Sweet. No problem
what is the engine hooked to a hydraulic motor/ pump
No its a two speed trans I made
The reason I asked I didn't see te typical centrifugal clutch on the engine
Yeah instead it has two centrifugal clutches on the inside of the transmission assembly.
Not sure if you answered this and my guess is to make it look more like a full size chopper, but why did you use 4 sprockets off the engine to the jackshaft? I like it personally just wanted to know. Also whats the gearing like from the engine to your 2 speed setup? Every 2 speed setup I've seen has the clutch on the engine itself and then a clutch on the jackshaft. Very cool build though.
yeah the sole purpose of the chains from the engine to the trans was to just have a live primary. gearing is one to one
so your running 2 41/40 centrifugal clutches for your two speed setup?
no...not sure what the ration is on the trans. I will see if I can take a look at it the next time im in the shop
I was actually meaning the chain pitch, like 420 chain or 40 or 41 chain. Since you have a 2 speed jackshaft setup, I'm just curious what you did and what size sprockets you used. Most 2 speed jackshaft use a #35 clutch and chain, but I was wanting to go to a larger, stronger chain. I'll have to check out your whole build up, to maybe get a better idea. 2 speed setups are difficult to setup because no one has a decent explanation of how to do it.
oh gotcha ...the chains for the clutches are #35's I think...The chains on the live primary drive are much larger (they are double roller timing chains out of a ford 302)
i am surely subscribing
+Tenzing Lodey sweet...welcome to the family
any thoughts on making it street legal?
+collin smith nah
+The Fab Forums lmfao
witch engine do u use?
yousef doulah its just a standard go kart style briggs and straton engine
How much will cost to make one for mee
I will sell you this one. 2k
nahh i don't see anything for 2k :) i will made my self ty for info
i love the bike
How much does it cost
to buy?
shouldve put a pit bike engine in it
lol....what kind of engine is a pit bike engine
yeah the wording on that was bad lol i meant something like a 125cc or 150cc Lifan motor...maybe even 200cc
Hey did you email me?
No I have been busy. I will shoot you all the pictures when I get in the office tonight.
How much for it
+Mohamud Ali 2k
I like that bike!
+norm card fun
Can you make me one
you can buy this one....2k
is it for sale..
yup 2k
Where can I get a motor for one of these
its just a standard go kart style engine. You can get them at places like tractor supply or northern tool and equipment
Ok uh u know anybody that builds some I would like to have one built for me
I sure don't, sorry. What are you willing to spend on one?
How much would u like for it
Marcus Salinas I would sell it for $2200. That's about what I have in all the components.
Are u in texas
No I am in south carolina
Nice one !!!
thanks
TheFabForums.com I would like to use your timing chain idea to run 2 engines :)
***** That might work if the chains are long enough. You planning to run some kind of jack shaft setup?
TheFabForums.com
Yeah or riding mower gear box.
gotcha
Is that bike for sale
Not actively for sale but I would sell it.
How much would u sell it for
$1500
How would I be able to purchase that from.you
It runs good?
Damn bro that bike looks bad ass!
Thanks...I have the complete build on my channel.
+The Fab Forums What's the link to the video?
+The Fab Forums are u selling that
It is for sale
I will give u 500$
Dawson Fenton cant do it...the brakes were more then that.
I don't get why a grown ass man would want one.
Its made to kick around the pits at the race track
Seth Adam its more fun going fast on something slow then going slow on something fast! No matter if its a full size bike, mini bike, atv or go kart, they are all a total blast in their own way.
and size of that rear wheel
