Yea the autotune is completely intentional as a stylistic choice which we haven't seen for a long time in Kpop. Personally I could do with a bit less on the last bridge but love the verses, really blends in well.
@@bunnydream2087 If you have to go back to 2016 then I would say it qualify as rare lol. And I agree with Winner's Everyday Abner but TXT's is not a title track. And literally no group debut with this autotune sound the last years.
I feel like autotune worked really well here. It fits the genre very well, and during the "bon bon chocolat" line, I think it would sound lacking without it. Also, while he may just be joking, it's too bad if Sean doesn't listen to pre-2013 k-pop, especially if it's just on the grounds of not liking autotune; many of the best k-pop songs of all time were made before 2013. K-pop didn't just somehow start getting good in 2013. Haha
Tbh I was confused when I heard the intense amount of autotune at first but now I think it kinda slaps! They did a live stage with prerecorded vocals and it was nice to hear their voices clearly. Yet I still like the autotuned version cause it's unique.
i'm definitely put off by songs with a lot of autotune (IDOL, this song, etc) but i think it kinda suits this song i guess?? it just. takes a while for me to get used to and stuff imho
To me, the song in itself sounds great, with or without autotune. But I don't think it's very suited for a debut song/debut title track as it isn't showcasing their voices really well. Like.. For me personally it doesn't catch me to a degree that I'm willing to check them into detail
Kali personally, I like the autotune because it adds to the vibe of the song. I feel like the trippy vocal quality added from autotune pulls me into the song more. I’d much rather have a good song than one that showcases their vocals because, ultimately, people will listen to a song that they like more rather than one with good vocals.
A lot of people criticize auto tune or just don't like it but (I personally don't think much of it) but I think the auto tune really worked for them, it sounds great!
Fun fact: they’re from yuehua entertainment- the same company that handles WJSN’s Chinese promotions, considering mei Qi, xuan yi, and cheng xiao are yuehua artists.
I was fine with the autotune, but I would've just had that one held note in the bridge before the pre-chorus just be natural voice cause it was the most jarring to me.
the auto tune works well, but Mia’s long note during the bridge would’ve been nicer just HER voice. plus it’s not to fix their voices, just a style, which is totally goodie in my book (IT WAS USED WELL lol)
I actually liked the autotune from the beginning because it suits the vibe and wasn’t overbearing imo. Some of my least favorite kpop songs have tons of autotune (Winner - Everyday, Exo - Lotto) but here it felt tasteful and didn’t hurt my ears lol
1) Lotto was used to fit the concept, so was used throughout. It really worked well (especially D.O at the beginning), so it was tactically used and sounds great. 2) Everyday was fine too because they made it really obvious, I think the chorus could've used no autotune, but other than that, it was an amazing song. People just hate autotune for some reason, it sounds good especially when you know the artist can sing (AKA all of EXO and Winner). People didn't hate on Mic Drop, yet they used tonnes of autotune, especially in the prechorus, and it was used discreetly so as if they tried to hide their voices. That's when it annoys me, not when it's blatantly uses for the concept.
Others criticize autotune because its normally used for artist having a bad singing But here autotune is used to suit the concept and vibes of this debut
I don't mind the auto-tune. I could listen to the song forever, because it sounds great. But with that being said, I hope they perform live. The whole synergy of artist's performing live is great. If they don't perform live, they are just basically dancing(performing) on the recorded track while lip-syncing. I personally enjoyed their SBS stage more, as compared to the others. Just my opinion though.
I think Everglow took the girl crush concept to another level in terms of the choices they made in music, video, choreography/personality. They have an air of “bad boy group” with the sultriness of “girl crush group”. I’m excited to hear more from them.
Please react to R.Tee x Anda - What You Waiting For ~~R. Tee is behind BLACKPINK songs like As If It's Your Last and DDU-DDU and Ikon's Killing Me~ And ANDA is SO UNDERRATED!!!
what I think some people need to realise is that auto tune isn’t inherently bad and isn’t always inherently making a song bad or hiding vocal flaws. sometimes it’s literally just a stylistic choice. that’s it.
I think they made a very smart decision in making this song super catchy and get stuck in people's head if they like the song or not it stays with you and you don't forget it quickly. For a debut song especially for a group that's not from a big company this was very smart. People will remember them at least. I'm really excited for this groups debut and looking forward to their future music!
I like this song, that's really it. It sticks in my head in a non-annoying way. It was fun and feels good to move to. I don't really expect more from my pop songs so, good job Everglow.
(probably has been pointed out before but I'm doing it anyway) I love how Sean actually makes the effort to pronounce hangul correctly, I noticed that when he deconstructed (G)idle's "Señorita". Maybe he speaks the language as well, I just wanted to point out how awesome that is! 💜 Kudos to you Sean!
I waited for so long before listening to this song bc I thought it would be so predictable and when I decided to finally play it I literally fell off my chair. I watched the video a good six times in a row bc not only is the song addictive but - as a dancer - so is the choreo ! In my opinion everglow has had the strongest debut of the year so far.
i've listened to this song more times than i can count and i've never noticed that the hook repeats in the background the whole time. i guess that's why i've had the song on repeat lol
It was a good choice for their debut song, really sets a solid base for what they have to offer. Which includes their personality, performance value, and choreography. You have to do so much with a debut song, to be competitive these days, that sometimes the music has to be a safe bet (a solid earworm). The b-sides were quite different as well, slow electro bop and a ballad. Effectively showing range and not defining them to a single style. Personally, I'm sold.
Pop Team Epic is heavily edited. Sumire Uesaka is the vocalist and the rest of her album has a lot less vocal alterations, minus a couple of songs. I LOVE that opening ❤️
Really my favourite girl group ever This is the most unique gitl group sound , I can easily imagine this song in a male voice ...they're the best ,love them💜💜💜💜💗💗💗

I definitely heard the strings in the back like you did Umu. I thought i was hearing things but they are strings! not sure if they’re “fake strings” aka a synth that just sounds like them.
there are parts of the songs that sounded like auto tune but if you heard the live version of the voice of especially in the bridge the part of Mia, its really her voice. that is her real voice and for me I don't think that's auto tuned :)
I actually really like the song, especially the pre-chorus. The auto tune was quite surprising at first but is surprisingly fitting for this song. I’m keeping an eye on them.
i actually was like wtf at first when i heard the autotune, but the stylistic choice actually sounds cool once you get used to it. the autotune at the beginning sounds the coolest imo, the amount on the rest of the song could've been reduced tho. usually songs with autotune make my ear bleed, so props to this one for not being jarring.
I agree I think the auto tune really just gives their music a different vibe and gives it more of a modern trendy hip hop sound that we haven’t seen in a girl group yet.
I am glad they did not continue with such heavy auto-tune. They can actually sing so they don't need it turned up. If they need it at all, they certainly don't need it to be so noticeable, so I think it must have just been stylistic for 'Bon Bon Chocolate'. As far as I know, they barely touched that style again (they used a little bit in 'Pirate' but over all, really they have not done a whole lot of heavy a-t and I am very happy about that).
Yea the autotune is completely intentional as a stylistic choice which we haven't seen for a long time in Kpop. Personally I could do with a bit less on the last bridge but love the verses, really blends in well.
