Hi, I have bought the same guitar 2 month ago. Funny thing, that my guitar has the serial number mm01088😊. I play it every day, but have made some " upgrades". Polishing frets, fret ends to Custom Shop quality. Sanded the sharp edge of the fretboard end to match the rolled fingerboard edges. Sanded the back of the neck, as I liked the original looks, but not the feel of the laquered neck. Trimmed the corners of the bone nut and polished the nut (including removal of the little paint residue). I have added small and realistic dents and scratches to the pale wood above the neck pickup.Refinished the unrealistic paint chips on the back of the body and stained the bare wood , to give it a used look, just like the Custom Shop relics. Finally i used ice spry to get the finish crackles. As i already had 2 Custom Shop strats, I have a good comparison. The mccready stratocaster is now on par with the Custom shop strats. Pickups are fantastic. I never liked Pearl Jam, but this guitar is a really nice heavy relic strat. Why pay 4000 Euro for a Custom Shop?
Hi, thank you very much for your comment. I’m happy you like this guitar too. This is an excellent Stratocaster, very comfortable and easy to play. As You said, pickups are fantastic !
Very interesting, could you elaborate or give advice of videos on youtube to learn how to do the stained part of the bare wood, and I would really appreciate to see the result if you can share it... I just got mine from the US (it's a magical s/n, MM00059, incredible to get this one) and it is a wonderful guitar already, it sounds pretty good BUT i think i will need to upgrade as you do on some adjustments, and maybe the tuners, tremolo block and pickups eventually since I have a nice set of Mark Foley to try in this one :)
Got mine and this is a true gifted one ! Always wanted a relic guitar...
