Yeah I have to unplug my Pi-star Hotspot to cut QRM for HF. It makes my field strength meter go crazy, peg out. My routers, warts, and everything else have almost no distortion now with all the Palomar devices I now have.
David, the 5 is a rating scale of the audio quality from 1 (lowest) to 5 (highest). The 9 is the "S" level generally found on the radio's meter. S9 is the strongest signal normally listed. Above that, you will hear s9 + 10(dB) or 10 over S9. So a 5 9 signal is the perfect level in both RF and Audio. Doug WA7DJS
I drove long haul in a big rig for 17 years, being rude on the road happens everywhere. The closer to a big city you get the worse it gets. I hated going anywhere near LA at any time, and when was the last time you drove through Denver during rush hour. It happens EVERYWHERE. I guess I'm taking a little offense to you specifying Utah and their drivers.
Lived in Utah for 18 years. They are their own kind of “special” state wide whereas others are more limited to large population centers. Not sure why you’d take personal offense. He’s not talking about you personally. 😉
QRM = LIDs on FT8 talking one state away with 1.5kW using double bandwidth. If I have to adjust my sounds levels for a single idiot one more time...seriously, I shouldn't hear someone at +40 that's over 2000km away. This is getting older than Dave.
Dave you have a very interesting way to elucidating things! Thanks for thinking up your intro. Yes, the ionosphere is not symmetric. Great stuff. 73

Another helpful video Dave. Thank you.
Thx Dave....I,m just starting out here in Australia.
Very informative. Thank you!
Very well said!
Thanks, Dave. Good video. 73, AC3HT
I never knew DX communications is not necessarily symmetrical. Thanks Dave
What is a signal 5 .9
