      Agreed. Your comments here are well-appreciated especially as Korean musical culture is often perceived as consisting almost exclusively of K-pop but includes a broad range of sounds beyond the (popular to the point of being ubiquitous) K-pop phenomenon. My discovery of K-goth was part of an evolving comprehension re: the inroads made by goth worldwide, i.e. its significant influence across a wide range of cultures, languages and musical styles internationally. I feel no small debt of gratitude to knowledgeable enthusiasts like Circus Undead who've devoted considerable time to "digging down deep in the record bins" then archiving and disseminating the most salient tracks from well-known to obscure artists and in so doing providing a valuable public service in preserving important culture and making it available to listeners worldwide for our mutual enjoyment and edification. In short: DAMN, this is some dope sh-t right here. Thanks so much, Circus Undead!

    Gothically and profoundly beautiful, this essence is the essence of life, beautiful and enigmatic but with shades of black and gray that define life.

    Circus Undead's Goth Post-Punk Mix is an edifying compilation delivering the "...music from various beautiful corners of this godforsaken earth" goods w/seven eclectic tracks representative of goth sounds worldwide including bnlt infrequently aired treats like Zviet's "Heaven" & Friolento's cover of Plan B's "Candy" (2014) et al.
    This mix is remarkable for its international (even Korea's in the house for this mix) & varied goth flavor (e.g. "Candy" had goth elements to begin with, sure, but even this version, which is imho superior to the original, is upbeat compared to what many listeners might expect of something described as post-punk goth) exposing the audience to tracks they might otherwise have missed and offering a glimpse into a wider universe of sounds demonstrating goth's broad impact and influence.
    In short, this is an eclectic mix of goth and goth-influenced music from around da' world that's worth a listen by both longtime goth enthusiasts and newbs alike. I mean, even if you don't like goth and related genres, there are enough dope tracks here to make it worthwhile.
    Thanks, Circus Undead, for another sweet AF goth mix. I landed here from your Darkwave & Deathrock Goth Mix and am delighted to know that there are wizened MCs like you "digging down deep in the record bins" for our collective benefit.

    Nice compilation, perfect to listen to as I finish fridays workload!
    I appreciate everyone has new titles for it from Darkwave to postpunk, but as a fan of 80s Goth, that what it remains to me.

      I hear this! So many subgenre names but at the end of the day sound and the vibe remain and I'm glad we have it in the world! Thanks for listening!

      Agreed. While I appreciate the nuances represented by the various sub-genre titles categorizing specific sounds and feel that these distinctions are useful, the essence of these sounds remains the 80's Goth.

    Its funny because "candy" is originally a reggaeton song (Candy By Plan B), and hearing it here just weirded me out haha. I have to admit it's very well adapted to the genere, but the lyrics is killing me XD

      It is funny. Like, I was quite surprised to discover this Friolento cover of Plan B's "Candy" (which I find superior to the original) and was thinking, DAMN, Goth music had an even wider influence and more staying power than I'd originally been aware of.

    Que es esa mamada de candy????????

    • @michaelkottler
      @michaelkottler หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, what IS that mamada de candy? lol. In terms of actual rather than metaphorical or analogous candy, based on my experiences, candy fellatio (like from a GF w/a taste for sweets before and especially during + any bedroom action involving sugary substances like honey and whip cream) is sticky business. I mean, chocolate-flavored warming massage oil is one thing, but whip cream melts too quickly, honey is sticky AF (if fun when used occasionally unless that's what matches your freak 24/7), and candy in general is more trouble in bed than it's worth. But, again, whatever gets ya through the night. Once, a young woman poured a drop of cognac on each nipple before inviting me to indulge in her intense beauty and years later I encountered the same scenario in Thomas Harris novel Hannibal and it was Special Agent Starling offering her breasts to Dr. Lecter stating 1st that these were breasts he wouldn't have to give up (as he presumably did, without malice, when his beloved younger sister took over the breastfed position). SPOILER: Unlike in the movie adaptation, Starling and Lecter resolves one another's deep-seated emotional complexes, fall in love and enjoy a super-happy ending no pun intended. But I've digressed. A lot.
