I think this one is absolutely brilliant. The stuff of genius, really. No exaggeration. It may be "simple" and "repetitive," but listen to the WAY she uses repetition. The way she builds momentum with it. And the "variations on a theme" that she has going throughout the song - circling around a central, constant theme.
"This simple theme, repeating." I think it's VERY well done. :)

+Timothy Rigney I absolutely agree, and wish the final released version had been as long as this version, w/ the additional lyrics and elements, though it's a modern classic.

    FATA O STREGA
    (Stevie Nicks)
Fata o strega che tu sia,
    suadente ammaliatrice,
    le nuance della tua voce
    conducono emozioni
    - accesi struggimenti -
    alla parola scritta
    che gocciola sul foglio
    quale lacrima dal cuore
    fiore di cristallo
    che risplende oltre il dolore

So, anyone care to speculate on who she's singing about? I'm getting into the Fleetwood Mac saga late, and there's alot I don't know... help me out somebody!

Doesn’t sound like her at times. But the words ring true for some.

@Fred Smith it's about Joe Walsh , she wrote many songs about him such as Priest of Nothing, Long Way to go, Has anyone written anything for you, Love is like a river, She calls you missing (which became love is like a river)

It's about Mick Fleetwood. She wrote it in 1980, after Mick had broke up with her (without her knowing) and married Sara Recor, one of Stevie's best friends, around the making of Tusk. Mick was elated to find out that the title track of the LP was, "24 Karat Gold".

@@audaciousredStevie did not begin her relationship with Joe Walsh until the summer of 1983. Nicks has stated in interviews this song is about Mick.

She did learn that hocus pocus isn't nothing to play with.

Hmmm, isn't 24 karats of gold written on Joe Walsh' album "the smoker you drink, the player you get"??????

Maybe this song is about him. There have been a few such as has anyone ever written anything for you, real long way to go, and priest of nothing. From the story that I heard there's definitely parts of this song that could be about him, he really ripped her heart out

Stevie Nick's distroyed Fleetwood Mac and threw Lindsey under the bus

I agree with you that the band does not sound good. They should have brought in Billy Burnette instead of Neil Finn or whatever his name is, the bottom line is they wanted to tour and Lindsey didn't, none of them are getting any younger & need to make the money while they can. As far as the rest goes maybe he should have thought about that back in the day when he used to trip her onstage, (even Christine slapped him for that ) and trying to strangle her on top of a car at Mic's house (according to several books about the band, John had to pull him off of her that day) when he quit the band and that's just what we know about. Lindsey screwed himself and as far as people like to say that Lindsay got her into Fleetwood Mac and she never would have been there without him which is true. However, she was the one that worked several jobs at a time , while contributing to their music ,only to come home and clean up after him if he was going to stay home and not work the least he could do is keep their apartment clean rather than sitting around all day playing music and smoking pot (I'm quite sure he could have donated an hour a day of his time to do something to help around the house instead of being a man-child) so without her supporting him he never would have gotten to make the music that got them into Fleetwood Mac and while he may have gotten her in the door she was the one that pushed it wide open and surpassed all of them

@@nolanwinter4711 I completely agree with you. I'm so sick of people saying she destroyed FM when dreams is their only no. 1 hit single and Rhiannon is what made them famous in the first place, both of which are Stevie's songs... and the band has always refused to show her that recognition. they treated her awfully, completely undermined and bullied her. I have absolutely no remorse for Lindsey because he mentally and physically abused her for over 19 years. But no one will hold that against him.

If anything mac try to destroy Stevie with all the coke he was doing. The guy was a coke monster. The band almost killed themselves trying to keep up him. So anyways. Stevie nicks has her own magic
