Great job, tackling this Transmission Repair! What failure symptoms caused you to open up the trans? Did the vehicle louse All Forward movement? Lose Reverse? Lose both forward and reverse? When you say ECM, I assume you mean Engine Control Module. Does the ECM control, the trans in your Rav4? Or does the Trans have it's own Control Module? What caused you to replace the "ECM" ? Where did you buy the parts? I am looking at a 2009 V6 four wheel drive Rav4, that lost all forward gears. Anyone know if IT might be fixed , doing the same job that was demonstrated in this Video? Thank you.
I had 1st gear and reverse. No other gears. The recall for this 2002 rav4 were for a faulty ECM that told the transmission to shift incorrectly. I already had an updated ECM without knowing it. So after swapping out the ECM the car still didn’t shift correctly. So I assumed there was internal problems. I’m not sure on a 2009. Toyota seems like they would repair the issue by then. But if not you may be able to rebuild.
