      I like how you completely ignored the no camp factor when answering about "damaged" Volk's legacy. Also Holloway fought Volk three times despite losing first two times, who's to say Volk wont bounce back in lightweight in the future? He has more chance at beating Islam than Oliveira, and their first fight which he arguably won shows it. You have some crazy recency bias.

    • @TheWeasleMMA
      @TheWeasleMMA  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      @paulbadman8509 Did you not read the question I was asked? They asked if he loses 6 times in a row.
      I said losing to Islam only affects p4p and GOAT status somewhat, but not much.

    • @paulbadman8509
      @paulbadman8509 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@TheWeasleMMA it doesn't affect either of these things, because of no camp thing and because it was not Volk's weight class. Now if Islam has as many title defenses as Volk, or goes down to fight Volk at featherweight and wins then Islam is above in P4P and GOAT discussion.

    Imo Alex has slowed himself down bc of how his 2nd fight with Izzy ended. He saw how he was out striking Izzy pretty handily and lost the fight only when he became way to aggressive. The more he slows the fight down the more he’ll be able to pick his opponent apart and set up his ko blows. Also the longer the fight goes he knows its only a matter of time before his opponent can’t even stand up from his low kicks.

    Jon was never fast nor powerful his entire 205 career. Jon typically wins using exceptional fight IQ, and skills, he knows what to do at the right time. Those oblique kicks will instantly slow down Tom. Glover said it best, it's your physical skill vs Jon's mind. I don't see anybody beating Jon except Francis. Too bad we may never see him fight after the Stipe fight again. The inevitable is there will always be somebody new and younger that can supposedly take your place.

    • @gigachad6885

      Tom bonked Sergei ONCE on the head and granite chin Sergei was DONE (Sergei hate flush overhands/hook from Tuivasa, Lewis and Blaydes without flinching, truly granite chin)
      Paired with Jones' poor boxing and boxing defense (pulling away with your arms extended out only works against shorter fighters) as we saw against Gustafsson/1 leg Santos/Reyes, Tom lands 1% of that and Jon is DONE.
      But to be fair, I would give the advantage to Jon against Francis, because Cyril Gane took down Francis EASILY, while Aspinall has excellent wrestling

    • @KingKola01
      @KingKola01 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @gigachad6885 ever heard the saying "it's the punches you don't see that knocks you out"? Those guys you mention didn't not land flush from mechanical advantageous position. Not one of them, only person that actually landed flush on Sergi was Blades in 1st rd, and even that was on a back step motion. A ko happens when the brain moves back and forth in the skull and it doesn't take much force for that to happen so therefore ANY BODY can get ko especially in heavy weight with proper timing. Tom said he was struggling with Sergi's range, Jon has even more reach/ wing span the Sergi, all this to say your argument is invalid to me.

      @stambo1983 Jon is longer marginally, also Sergi throws looping punches. And as we know straight beats looping to the mark. Jon is exceptional with distant control. 2. Aspinall hits harder then any other guy Jones fought

Stipe was a decently well-rounded heavyweight and I think Aspinall is a larger version of him who also kicks. The only other reason I give Apsinall a chance is the fact that he was able to take a flush punch from Sergei Pavlovich, meaning he may be able to withstand Ngannou. then again Ngannou is just built differently. he is a lean 270-man. the only other dude in history that could possibly be badder is Alexander Kerelian if he did MMA instead of wrestling.

      Jones is pretty much awful at striking. And he is not a fast fighter. He's a very tough guy and has the best chin in MMA history, equal to Ngannou. Jones uses the Tony Ferguson approach, and it's not athleticism, it's his toughness and grittiness that wins him his fights. Being gritty is not enough for Aspinall. Aspinall could put down a rhino with those punches he landed on Sergei. Nobody has even remotely hurt Sergei with multiple punches. Blaydes landed several full power shots on Sergei and Sergei didn't even notice. Aspinall's power is almost Ngannou power. Of course nobody beats a Ngannou punch.

Just because some guys tested him or maybe edged him just slightly on points (in at least the minds of many, though not the judges)...don't see him avoiding fights. Rematches maybe but we saw how he worked Gus in the second fight. Reyes wouldn't have stood a chance if they rematched.

    He has a good chance of clipping Aspinall, of course, but he's nowhere near as fast as Aspinal and there's no evidence to suggest that he could defend against Aspinall's grappling.
    Also, styles make fights. Pavlovich, for example, will have more success against Ngannou than he did against Aspinall.
    Ngannou with his power and awkward style had a close fight (which he lost if you know how to score boxing) with a massively overrated Tyson Fury who was at his career heaviest, who isn't a big puncher and severely underestimated Ngannou.

    Guy calling out Izzy after the win was pure cringe. Any way to not have to face a proper wrestler, just keep asking to fight the same guy over and over again. Safe path was paved by the UFC brass.

    He’s slower at 205 because he has had to respect the takedown in both fights so far. Especially after first round with Jan it’s hard to go balls to the walls when u might get put on your back for 4:30, I noticed towards ends of rounds he heated up, especially in a close round

    Yeah. I call you crazy. As long as Jones heals from his injury, he will come back and show you. He isn’t the old. He has the smartest iq of any larger fighter and maybe any fighter ever. He is mean. He is crazy. He doesn’t mind literally breaking you. He has top one percent genetics. His distance management and use of reach is unmatched. You are suffering from what is called recency bias. Just wait and see.

    I disagree Weasle, the Miiddleweight division is more stacked than it's ever been (or is going to be), so many great potential fights on the horizon. Strickland, Dricus, Izzy, Whittaker, Khamzat, Usman, Aliskerov, Shara Magomedov and Bo Nickal soon. The Middleweight top 10 will be the most stacked top 10 in one year's time.
