I’m an Estonian woman living in Russia. When US men say “traditional” I think they mean 1950’s American women. There is similarities with a woman’s role in marriage but most US men would not enjoy life in Russia or with Russian woman because they are too used to convenience. Expectations on Russian men from both family, society and country are FAR higher and the type of men saying bad things about American women would typically struggle here, you’d be much too busy to complain about such things online, from first light to the time you sleep man is working in one way or another. Providing is not just about money but you really have to manage everything for all loved ones and failure is not possible. Our men grow up supporting their parents and we have national service for men, the idea a man can be feminine, weak or irresponsible doesn’t exist here and Russian women won’t accept that. Man has to be strong, mature and dependable and those men find success in USA too. As for passport girls, yes you can buy a partner as many girls here are poor but sadly you can’t buy love and you won’t find love in Russia if you can’t find love in America I think.
as a russian born i can say that russians are more old school style. i was growing up in different country myself, soo dating also was a little weird because men were not gentlemen like in here where i now live. i never had a man taking care of me, i always took care of the man and i think it should go both ways. both take care of one another. its not all about him or all about her. but what is missing from today sociaty in dating is romance. true oldschool , romance. its more like a hook up world.

I think Americans have put labels on things like toxic masculinity, but there’s just some inherent behaviours that both genders have and like about the other. When you say she should not expect a man to be manly, but a man should expect a woman not to work, I think these are two different things. A lot of western ideals of women’s gender role is unnatural while most of the expectation of men is what comes naturally and how men behave in the animal kingdom as well. For example there’s very little in nature to suggest females should be cooking or cleaning but there is a lot in nature to suggest males should be competing for mates, and that masculine qualities are attractive. Even outside of nature, our bodies tell us what we like from men, I don’t think putting labels on this and saying her expectations are harmful is correct. The idea that when some men arouse us we would choose one who does not to conform to some societal rules is bizarre and unnatural.

It’s a different way of life. I think it is possible that it might be easier to find that in the US as traditional in Russia is somewhat different than in the US...I think there are a lot of women in the US that would love to be a "tradwife" and stay at home, but I feel this does not meet their satisfaction as the woman probably wouldn't be willing to be a servant. Russia even has a higher percentage of women working than the US and it has been like this for decades. This is especially notable when considering a good portion of female workers in the US probably only work because their husbands don't make enough to live comfortably on their wages alone and not just because they want to be independent.

@davidh7799 In Eastern Europe it is not “woman’s nature” but man’s rules. Former Soviet states rules were all dictated by men, men provide for society. It has little to do with what women want and more to do with the expectations of communism, men were the main workers and providers and women support the men. I think it was the same in USA but now woman has more rights, here it has not changed so much. Man of the past wanted the responsibility and wanted to be in charge so they make the money and they pay. The idea of having women pay bills is very western, most Slavic men would not want this as they like to be relied upon. To us, your attitude of not wanting to pay but still wanting women to be “traditional” is very strange. Traditionally men provide for women, and they chose that and wanted that. If you do not feel that is for you then it is best to stay in America because most of the rest of the world works this way.

I’m Estonian living in Russia, I would say height does come up but it’s not the biggest deal. Many Russian guys are short. The main thing here is that men are manly, and I think in America that’s been lost. I think Americans have put labels on things like toxic masculinity, but there’s just some inherent behaviours that both genders have and like about the other. When you say she should not expect a man to be manly, but a man should expect a woman not to work, I think these are two different things. A lot of western ideals of women’s gender role is unnatural while most of the expectation of men is what comes naturally and how men behave in the animal kingdom as well. For example there’s very little in nature to suggest females should be cooking or cleaning but there is a lot in nature to suggest males should be competing for mates, and that masculine qualities are attractive. Even outside of nature, our bodies tell us what we like from men, I don’t think putting labels on this and saying her expectations are harmful is correct. The idea that when some men arouse us we would choose one who does not to conform to some societal rules is bizarre and unnatural.

And we mostly stay home or we have small job, but our main job is to look after family and keep house tidy. In America women tend to want career and be more independent it seems. It’s a different way of life. I do think it funny that western men seem to think it’s easier here though, I would say it is much harder, for both women but especially men, who have to work all the time.

I think it is possible that it might be easier to find that in the US as traditional in Russia is somewhat different than in the US...I think there are a lot of women in the US that would love to be a "tradwife" and stay at home, but I feel this does not meet their satisfaction as the woman probably wouldn't be willing to be a servant. Russia even has a higher percentage of women working than the US and it has been like this for decades. This is especially notable when considering a good portion of female workers in the US probably only work because their husbands don't make enough to live comfortably on their wages alone and not just because they want to be independent.

It has little to do with what women want and more to do with the expectations of communism, men were the main workers and providers and women support the men. I think it was the same in USA but now woman has more rights, here it has not changed so much. Man of the past wanted the responsibility and wanted to be in charge so they make the money and they pay. The idea of having women pay bills is very western, most Slavic men would not want this as they like to be relied upon. To us, your attitude of not wanting to pay but still wanting women to be “traditional” is very strange. Traditionally men provide for women, and they chose that and wanted that. If you do not feel that is for you then it is best to stay in America because most of the rest of the world works this way.
