    Excellent video. Very useful. My house is 22 years old. We have used teak wood for kitchen cupboard. No complaints so far. Now I am planning to go for modular kitchen. Is it advisable? Can I modify the existing one to modular? If I am going for modular which will be the best material for ensuring durability? What is your opinion about stainless steel cupboards? Sorry for troubling you for a free consultation. But your expertise is valuable and I can take decision simply based on your advise

    • @simplyinteriors
      @simplyinteriors  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Question: If the teak wood is fine, then why are your planning to change it? Teak is not easily available now and is a costly product. If you do plan to take it out, don't sell it but ask a good carpenter to make some other furniture for your home.
      You cannot change it to modular right now. At the most, you can change the shutters but the look of teak will go away. You can go for BWP plywood with laminate for the internal frame and external shutters can be in the teak which you have if you want or in some other finish depending on what you are looking for. For wet areas, you can replace plywood with either bison board or PVC boards for the internal frame.

    • @simplyinteriors

      Hi Rahul, not sure what you mean by ceramica. HDHMR from Action Tesa is a decent but cheaper material. Not suggested for bottom framework. We will suggest BWP plywood at least for the framework. You have also not mentioned what finish you are getting. Laminate / acrylic / veneer / PU or any other. Cost will depend on that.
      Assuming HDHMR Action Tesa across with laminate finish, 1800 is high. Around 1500-1600 or whereabouts should be good depending on city and prices in that city.

    • @simplyinteriors

      Good question! Typically, it should be taken as a box and hence charged accordingly. But a designer or contractor will consider it as part of the rest of the loft only and charge accordingly. If you only have a loft above door and nothing else (its not extending from elsewhere), then it will be charged as per wardrobe rates.

      Thanks for a great explanation.
      It could be great if you provide tentative cost of material and labour for above and below seperately. (Keeping in mind more hardware is being used in the below cabinets , soft close telescopic sections etc, against soft closing hinges at the top. Also the depth of upper shelves being 2' on the upper shelves and 2.5' on the below shelves, material and labour should not be the same ).
      Assume material to be similar both above and bottom ie plywood with acrylic laminates on the top with hettich soft close hardwares.
      Hope you get the point.

    How to calculate hardware cost just hardware cost

    • @simplyinteriors
      @simplyinteriors  ปีที่แล้ว

      If you know the hardware, you can get some basic rates online but many of these are usually old. Good for approximation. Again, cost of installation of hardware, transportation etc is not included here.

      You can speak with carpenters to find that out. Bigger brands will not work only on labor rates.
