Ringing on the Heavy Taylor 6 at Steeple Ashton, Wilts

Some Stedman and a couple of changes of Cambridge (before my camera died!!) on this classic 1959 Taylor 6. They are awkward to ring well - due to dodgy ropes, a feeling of being a bit neglected upstairs, and being hung high in this tall tower - but god are they worth the effort!! Magnificent wool church too, well worth a visit!! Sadly they are very unavailable quarter peals, let alone peals (last one 1984!!) so we were only able to have half an hour of general ringing :-(

These sound similar to Deeping St James - one of my favourite 6s.

I love Deeping! They appear elsewhere on my channel. I'd say Steeple are clearer (bit louder inside) which helps, but Deeping handle better (and come out nicely on camera, unlike Steeple A)

Simon, love yer work Son, I wish I could get to ring at all these places like i used to, but of course Sydney is a long way from Blighty. Another top sounding taylor heavy peal, they do heavy peals so well don't they

Many thanks for your kind comment, nice to know my work is appreciated :-) Taylors did a good job on these, they sound fabulous, as do Westbury just down the road!! Got some top ringing to come from Kent soon, some good Whitechapel jobs!! ;-)

They are about the same weight and key, a fantastic 6 but really need working to get the best out of!! I wish I filmed our lower here, we took about 7 or 8 minutes over it but it was inch-perfect all the way down and the hum from that was superb!!

They are ready available for 30 minutes general ringing but not qps or peals, they use the usual "local residents complain" excuse, I don't know what the situation is but I reckon they probably could me made available for the odd quarter, but sadly not...

@Ivan Steel unfortunately that isn't always the case in the ringing world - some keyholders are very over-protective of their bells and the "complaints" are sometimes - but by no means always! - a fabricated excuse....

Oh yes, they are amazing. I don't think it's so much the neighbours as them in charge of the keys here....
