This channel. Is the greatest channel ever made. It’s an interviewer, asking questions, on your behalf, to find out things you’re not currently able to find out, just so that you can know them. Theres no professional industry that’s more of a black box to people on the outside, and this is the channel that shows inside of it.

These interviews are so fantastic..and the host is incredible, she’s asked basically every question I’ve wanted to know…BUT THE ONEEEE THING THAT CONFUSES ME IS…where are all these scripts that had to jump through these hoops?? How do all these garbage movies keep getting made when all these directors and screenwriters are telling us what a screenplay has to go through to get green lit???? I think the reason everyone thinks they can write a screenplay is because most Hollywood movies seem like they were written by a 4year old!

I believe most of the "bad" movies were the product of major interference on the part of studio execs. Studios became corporate years ago -- advertising dollars & advertisers dictated what got made, and how. These ppl are called Suits. They're held in contempt by the talent. But the Suits are the money. They have no taste, no concern about artistic value. They like Michael Bay, for example, bc he makes lots of money for the corporation. Which then makes Wall Street happy to invest. We dealt with that subversion of our industry during the strikes: streamers/studios lose money when all they care about is numbers. During the strikes, we proved studio paradigms fail. They need to listen to us, not just project data; compensate us at a rate equal to the value we bring to the business; and support artistic freedom & its importance to their margins. Also I had the realization that I need to generate my own product. Write, direct, and act in movies I create. Eliminating the studio middleman. So it's all changing all the time. Belief in our talents & skills is still the best motivator. Quality attracts investors.

There are two types of pitches: a thirty second pitch and the long pitch. The long pitch is five to twenty minutes or longer depending on the vibe and it depends on who you're pitching to.

I have spent most of my life developing a story and finding an agent has been super difficult. I wonder if a writer needs to also be a salesman

The mashup time travel/ horror pitch was great but it didn't sound like a horror movie.
Back in those days, there were witch trials for witchcraft. I think if Seth was framed for using witchcraft to kill a villager using necromance and stood on trial that would be a better story setup.

Great interview with a really smart guy
Time traveler who believes in only science stuck in 1600s Salem needs to work together with a real witch to return to his own time.

This channel and soft white underbelly are the two channels I love for perspective.
Film courage for getting me motivated to continue working at “the craft” and do it whether I succeed or not (for the love of it).
And soft white underbelly to show that no matter my circumstances, things could be so much worse and to be grateful for even the little I have.
