You have come a long way from Blue China GTILs! I'm still there but am looking at the LUXpower 6K as they have current clamps and I don't want a contract with my utility. I have two Blue Boxes for day time and two for night time (batteries) I finally learned how to use the battery function and it makes so much sense! Set amount in watts you want to limit the battery bank to output, and use internal limiter to control each Leg up to the set limit. It works flawlessly. I use a regular AC battery charger during the day to recharge the batteries as the panels are keeping the house loads from grid at just a few watts. So no charge controller for batteries, just the AC battery charger. The system works perfectly thanks to all your TH-cams from back in the day of your blue box GTIls!
Why expose the batteries and inverter to direct sunlight? Although they may be rated for outdoor use, electronics still suffer from increased temperature and you may want to advise them to get a shade over the installation.
For paralleling 2 PowerPro batteries, doesn't EG4 suggest connecting the second battery to the bus bar of the first battery? And then from there, running two battery cables up to the inverter from the bus bar?
For about $800 less than this unit you can buy an easy to assemble 15.5 kW, DIY LFP battery kit that uses high quality EVE cells with a smart BMS with active cell balancing, a full suite of communication ports with Bluetooth.
could you technically power the entire home using backfeed to the main panel? I'm interested in a similar setup, but don't want to have to pick/choose my critical loads and would rather do a whole home backup up to the max 12K the inverter can support. I think the system will auto pull from the grid for any loads over 12k?
How did you end up making it watertight between inverter and battery. It looked like some of your holes only aligned and the rest was left open? Is there maybe a seal between the two units?
I am curious - why LuxPower and not EG4 18KPV? Seems like they cost the same but you get two parts from the same brand that supposedly should work better (more reliable?) together.
@@SolarEngineering yes but with separate support staff and software/firmware correct? Has there been any call backs? Luxpower is a spin of from a China inverter company "Ningbo Deye Inverter Technology"
Doesn't that large wire under the house need to be in conduit. I have been told it does, even going from one side of the inside of my garage to the other side
Why do they need batteries without solar, are they saving money on time of use? If it's for blackout protection, then they should just keep the generator.
Great install as usual. Would you be able to share some of the permitting drawings used for your installs like this one? Redact/Blackout personal information. Thanks

That LCD is going to fail. There should be some sort of a cover for the display. Sometimes you can buy a magnetic screen cover for it to block the UV rays.
I would never use a low surge, high frequency, transformerless inveryer to power my home. They offer poorer peak power capacities and a shorter life expectancies than heavy duty, low frequency, transformer based inverters.
@@SolarEngineering The alternative is a heavy duty, low frequency, transformer based inverter charger from manufacturers like Magnum Energy, Schneider Electric, Sigineer Power, Outback Power or Victron Energy.

Love these videos. Great prep for my 18kpv and PowerPro install soon

Rookie move for sure
You do First Class Work!
Nice and Clean Job !!

yes, it's a recommendation, not a requirement.
Do you need to use metal conduit on the DC solar wires going into the conduit box below the EG4 18K PV if it is outside?
NEC 690.31.D.1 "...inside building..." so outside can be non-metal conduits.
Great job, question, do you need to be certified and licensed to install these systems?
usually if batteries involved, city want to see electrical license
Very nice installation 👏🏼 thanks for sharing 👍

If you put the batteries closer together would the battery cables have reached?
I’m doing the same install next month.
Looks good!
Wish you serviced the modesto area. I'm looking to have the 18k, 2 batteries and some solar installed.
too far from me
Awsome video. Can you tell me if the RSD is used does it kill power to the subpanel circuit? Thks
Good luck with any customer service after the sale needs.
is it really bad?
If you’re suggesting this is of a poor quality then please tell us why!

you'll need to relocated all loads from main panel. Or install tesla backup switch, which can do full-home backup without circuits relocation.
No ferrules for bare wires?
are they pulling extra power from Grid, why not do pannels and even sell some power back to the grid.
often power outages, roof is not good for solar.

a small line of construction adhesive on the perimeter.

Oh I watched the video again and you did mention that they are the same inverter.
yeah, EG4 18K is a white-labeled version of LuxPower 12k.

it's nonmetallic-sheathed cable, so no conduit needed
Out of curiosity, what kind of wire did you use when making a new negative cable?
I'm using Windynation brand, great quality wires.

Where did your training
mostly youtube :)
Can I ask why you used what looks like AWG 4 or 6 for the grid/load?
it's a partial backup. Inverter replaced 50A generator. So I'm using 6AWG
Beautiful work , so neat

Rough price in Bay Area, CA $35k before tax credits.

Is this setup UL9540 listed? Did the AHJ approve it?
yes and yes

Would not pass inspection. Low Voltage and High Voltage can't be pulled in the same hole.
