I’m of an age where I remember C4 being launched and it makes me sad to see them in this state. Personally, I don’t care for all these spin off channels, I’d just like them to concentrate all efforts on the main channel, producing high quality shows. I know that probably doesn’t make commercial sense for them, but they need to attract viewers with shows that people actually want to watch. Also, they have, what I consider, the absolute best news show in the UK in C4 News.

"Falling apart" might be a bit melodramatic but drastic cutbacks are long overdue. The cost of broadcasting on terrestrial and satellite is considerably more than online and Channel 4 has very little in the way of live broadcasts outside of the news and Sunday Brunch, so its content lends itself to AVOD and FAST. Personally I'm not a fan of FAST channels, but it's working for ITV who recently launched a load on ITVX, and Paramount who plan to merge My5 with Pluto later this year. The music channels are a no brainer, TVs have Vevo and TH-cam these days, and they will account for some of the job losses. Not sure where the others will come from, but by guess would be from functions that can be reduced rather than programming, as a lot of their programming is already imports and repeats. I think Channel 4 are doing the right thing. They need to make the main channel a destination again.
2:35 A lot of TV and production companies realise it's a smarter move putting their content on TH-cam, instead of other people uploading their shows. As there's a big audience and a way to further monetise content, it makes sense.

Hopefully channel 4 stays around since they occupy a valuable position in the uk broadcast landscape. I’ve still got TH-cam though, it’s just sad for it’s cultural significance.
@user-bv5lc1nf5d I don't think Regional ITV is coming back, not forgetting indivisual companies bearing the cost of setting up the tv networks across the country, Analogue tv is dead, Freeview is on it way out being replace by IPTV Freely.
What Channel 4 don't seem to understand is that most people, in a cost of living crisis, are not going to pay to watch Channel 4 premium online channels. If they think they can get around the downturn in advertising but creaming off money from people who are struggling to pay grossly inflated energy costs, and grossly inflated rents, and vastly inflated mortagages, they are making a monumental mistake.
Tiny Pop UK is also shutting down. The end of the multichannel era may be upon us, now we’re down to one preschool channel on the whole Freeview Multiplex (CBeebies), and soon Pop UK will have a similar title in channels for older kids. Channel 4 are doing what the BBC, ITV and Narrative Entertainment have. They are shutting down channels. Soon I predict Paramount will join in with Channel 5, and shut down one or more of their networks in the ‘Channel 5’ branding (likely 5Select) and maybe some of their other ‘extra’ kind of networks too (Comedy Central Extra UK and you could argue Nicktoons UK, Nick Jr Too UK won’t shut down however as the network, despite being effectively a marathons channel from what I last saw of it, still gets tons of views).
With more stuff moving online, it would make sense to close their plus 1 channels first, along with 4/7, especially if they want people to move to their streaming services. Even though some people do watch these channels, it probably makes sense for all broadcasters to close their plus 1 channels which will be the trend in the coming years.
Music channels are a shame in general. I reckon there will be very few by 2030. I'm not sure why TH-cam wasn't a big wake up call to provide HD Music Channels. Watching a blurry SD music video looks rubbish compared to TH-cam. I reckon they gave up long ago and just holding out for the time being.
FAST channels are just a new form of linear TV where they can slap on programmes (often the same one) on loop with no effort of creating a schedule or any trailers or continuity, whilst closing proper linear channels with schedules and continuity on them. Also couldn't they do music video channel fans a favour and try and sell them so that they might stay in some form. They used to belong to Bauer along with Channel 4 as of course they have some of the radio brands such as Magic, Kiss & Kerrang! Given Bauer has just closed its radio stations on satellite it doesn't seem that likely they will step in to save them, but could MTV save them?
I doubt channel 4 plus has more subs than in the thousands. They don't have the wealth of exclusive content like itv premium let alone the likes of Netflix. Like you mentioned, "The Box" used to be genuinely a juke box in the early years, late 90s. Each cable franchise had their own playout machine in the headend, full of laser disks . When tracks were chosen on a premium rate phone number it would work out which one to play next and queue them in order to be broadcast. It was somewhat exciting to see the 3 digit code appear on the screen in the corner as you pressed on your phone keypad. But yes in today's age the music channels are kinda redundant with TH-cam, when you can choose what you want and if you subscribe none of the inane ads.
Currently streaming services are still not viable so it would be wrong for them to shift to streaming even if they want to get there first. Channel 4 need to review what their main channel is doing and work from there rather than making out as if the main Channel 4 channel is a sinking ship and their solution is to get in to a leaking life boat without a life jacket. They should fix the main channel first.
@@scottpeacock5492 I meant they were abandoning what is not a sinking ship for an actual sinking ship. Therefore leaving the stableness of a ship that has lasted for decades and with proper maintenance will last decades or centuries for a leaking life boat and the confidence in that leaking life boat to not wear a life jacket. My main point is streaming services aren't viable now and it's questionable if they ever will be. Although Netflix looks like it is a worldwide success they have made no money because to retain their subscribers they need to put billions in to making programmes. Another problem with streaming services is you can't have "water cooler moments". This is where people discuss the programmes the next day at work, school or among friends the next day. If people are watching at different episodes they don't want to give spoilers or can't discuss if their friends and family haven't reached the point they are at.
TV is going the same way as Blockbuster. Adapt or die, and the writings been on the wall for a longtime now. We all watched Blockbuster dying many years ago. TV ignored it and is going the same way
It doesn't help that the television packages sold by sky and virgin media rise up every year, for example I have been with sky for over 10 years, but the recent cost increase was the straw that broke the camel's back, there was no way I could afford £150 per month for the full sky package, so now we rely solely on the on demand tv services from providers like Netflix (although it is getting more expensive), It's not just the content owner (BBC, ITV, Bauer etc) the companies who resell at extortionate prices (Sky, Virgin etc..) need to be held accountable as well.
Yes, it was a truly eclectic channel, with everything from Countdown and Brookside through to obscure arthouse films. Lots of minority interest programmes covering various niches. Also they were a massive shot in the arm for British filmmaking when it was in the doldrums.
I know that this probably will not work, but what if any of us were to make a petition and prevent Channel 4 from shutting down its dedicated music channels?
e4 is the channel I watch the most, 4seven is good cuz grand designs is on often lol. miss 4music, was a good one to shove on when cleaning the house haha
I wonder did they try to sell off these music channels before deciding to close them down. Didnt watch them all but was sometimes handy just to have a music channel on on the background.
That’s a show getting cuts for many years now, although rather scary how much money Carroll was getting out of it 😮 and they basically said if the show can survive without Richard it can without you and here’s a massive pay cut take it or leave the show. The audience no longer happens on countdown either after 2020. Am surprised more 4 aren’t repeating ancient episodes at a rate if a few a day can’t cost too much. No return of deal or no deal to channel 4 was a little sad that it ended up on itv. If countdown ever got cancelled from Channel 4 it would probably end up on itv.
Channel 4 have relied too much on linear channels. Channel 4 also did the stupid PR stunt of renaming All4 as Channel 4. Something not needed and too confusing. Then their content is dreadful. Dull, staid and safe, something which Channel 4 never was. Just look at their banal daytime repeats drivel they offer, and relying too much in prime time on Jimmy Carr, Googlebox and Last Leg. They really do need a shake up
For people coming from countries like the US, Canada, Mexico and Japan, this whole thing about FTA channels having the problems that cable networks have faced since the beginning of the 2010s is effing confusing... until you realize that TV in the UK has always worked as cable TV; it’s a service that expects the viewers to keep paying all the time to watch “free” programming and only expect some revenue from advertised products to make the fee lower than it should be, instead of just watch, buy whatever was watched and let the advertisers do the paying.
I'll miss Kerrang if and when it goes. That and Scuzz (Scuzz in its last few years) basically made my teenage years what they were, I was and still am a massive lover of metal and rock music. I discovered bands such as Bullet for My Valentine, My Chemical Romance, Paramore, 30 Seconds to Mars, Billy Talent, HIM and Avenged Sevenfold through Kerrang. So, what does this mean for the goths/punks/metalheads, it already looked bleak when Scuzz faded off the face of the earth, and also MTV Rocks/MTV2 too. So there's not many places for the punks, goths, metalheads and general rock lovers to get their music from. (I mean, yeah, Spotify, Apple Music and radio stations like Planet Rock, Radio X and Kerrang Radio, I can't pick that last one up that well because I'm in Wales and their signal comes from Stoke, but there are some people who prefer to watch music videos, for example: my all-time favourite music video is "The Hardest Button to Button" by The White Stripes, it's such a clever video). PS: I know that Now Rock exists, but their output isn't brilliant, there isn't much variety in their music choices. I like Queen, but I also love Paramore too, I like the variety of music on Kerrang, you could have classic rock/metal such as Judas Priest and Black Sabbath and then more modern stuff like Avenged Sevenfold and Bullet for My Valentine for example.
MTV should buy out Channel 4 and revive their entire music channel portfolio: Magic TV (forthcoming) Kerrang! TV (forthcoming) Kiss TV (forthcoming) 4Music (Forthcoming) The Box (Forthcoming) Box Upfront (9/1/2020) Box Hits (29/6/2022) I liked it when 4Music Aired Episodes Of Scrubs I used to go to Magic TV to get all my music video and program content And so The Box Music Channels will be rebranded to The New MTV Music Channels
Please don't go, C4. You are our last outpost of defence against American takeovers. Your library is legendary, there is only room for some subscription services to survive, and by the way, I'm NEVER going to buy a new t.v. just to watch freely.
@@AdamMartynyeah TV is changing so fast. Including the BBC SD Channels closing down on certain platforms, there have already been more final shutdowns or announced final shutdowns this year than we had the whole of last year. And we’re only in January…
This is the end of Channel 4. I'm not going to pay for another subscription. I'm already subscribed to TH-cam and Netflix, so I have plenty of other content to watch and it would take something out of this World to make me subscribe. Online has become over saturated and Channel 4 are too late to the game. Look at what happened BBC3. It was a failure when it went online only, it was getting very little attention.
6 six channels that all seem to do basically the same thing and a mission to 'move online' like that realistically means anything. Deliver your content however you like, it means nothing if nobody watches it.
My guess son the channels to be the next to go from Channel 4 would be 1. E4xtra 2. 4seven 3. More4 (Because some of it's shows airs on Channel 4) 4. E4 (considering the audience is mainly those who may consume stuff online) 5. Film4 would be the last (as you said it is a production company) and plus it airs movies Plus I have a feeling The Simpsons may just be the end for Channel 4 (I'm calling on that indeed) Also, Tiny Pop (a kids channel for certain regions of Freeview) is set to move to online on March 20th/21st? As it is becoming a "FAST" channel. And Tiny Pop is a "pre-school" channel. I could took a guess that Tiny Pop was leaving linear tv as they keep prompting the Pop Player app I feel TV today is just becoming "backwards". You have to have so many accounts to watch certain shows from different apps and it's just becoming a bit mental, this is why I'm starting to collect physical media and appreciate it so much now
Film4 closing and them renting out the licenses could be the only way for them to get some cash in to keep the lights on tbh. See that as one of the few ways they can still get some cash in so most likely to get stripmined tbh
They're struggling because of years of producing nothing but bottom tier dreck. I stopped watching TV nearly 10 years ago, and a quick look at the guide shows me that Channel 4 has totally stagnated. Ad nauseam repeats of US sitcoms cancelled over tthree decades ago. A fascination with bland, mind-numbing, spirit sapping shows involving Kirstie Allsopp or Phil Spencer. Back to back to back to back episodes, repeats of the same detritus from only a few weeks prior. It's the TV equivalent to Groundhog day.
Exactly why I pay for itvx and TH-cam premium. Can't watch anything containing ads! Channel 4 not got anything I want watch enough to pay for or suffer ads though!
And channel 4 kids I think that’s also gonna last the most like channel 4 and e4 despite Channel 4 kids losing a couple of hours ever since launch back in September but I think it might last for awhile
Man… after hearing this news i’m starting to feel worried about E4 and the other sister channels as a whole, in fact one of my compilations covering One of C4’s sister channels (E4) was what started my channel from the GROUND UP as I shared this compilation to you Adam and that was back in 2019! I was 10 years old when I done that! I literally do not want any of these sister channels to end up gutted like the music channels especially E4 cause I grew up with that channel, but let’s just wait and see. 😔
I got sky Q and notice about 40-50 channels have closed since last year include the hd switch to bbc you can only watch hd versions it shame cos eveything seem to be close to movr to sky stream services it be sad to lose these channels i heard E4 is facr closure to the did same with some radio stations in December 2023
Married at First Sight channel? Don't they know its trash like this and property shows focusing on the London belt that has finished off Channel 4 as a viewing option for a large amount of the viewing public.
@@PhilipMurphy8Extra A channel or programming block on late night Channel 4 showing a lot of their past programmes from the 4 Later era would get a lot more viewers watching. I even remembered T4 in Sunday afternoons showing music performances by flavour of the month bands inbetween them showing sci-fi shows.
I disagree, this is literally them trying a whole bunch of new ideas rather than stick to their same old stuff (Don't get me wrong, I still think it's all very sad and sucks)
IF More 4 and 4seven go before E4 then Channel 4 do not know their audience demographics, E4 is aimed at those like BBC Three with the streaming generations so E4 would make more sense to go Online only before More 4 or 4seven whose target audience prefer Linear TV same with BBC Four, plus More 4 and 4seven have programmes worth watching, E4 (not E4 extra) however is full of very poor content
I’m stunned that anyone was still watching the Box ten years ago. You surprise me there. Not that I particularly like modern pop music but just because of the alternatives. The Box and MTV were absolutely massive in the mid - late 90’s though. Voting for videos I guess was the appeal with the Box (though I always found it a bit of a gimmick). The music genre channels were more appealing to me but the novelty died off quick (though I should point out I was in my early 20’s when they arrived in the early 00’s).
Same, I liked MTV2 with the slot where you texted in messages to a cow character. It was such a thrill seeing your message on screen. There was a lot of slagging off of each other’s music tastes and asking for them to play your faves. You just don’t get that interactivity with streaming, so boring!
E4 is similar to BBC3 and itv2. All targeting younger demographics. I think More4 is more towards over 35. Also its cheaper TV. Place in the sun, Location location location etc. I think E4 and More4 will be relaunched as something new to incorporate hits like Married at First Sight and Celebs go dating. Channel name 4U.
Sad but C4's heyday has already long gone, it used to be my "go to" channel, innovative and brave but for a long time now they've mainly churned out the same cheap reality crap as the other channels. Basically the programmes are only there to separate the ads.
It’s sad. If pop channels are struggling then rock will certainly be struggling more. Holding out for one more mainstream rock revival until all music channels go forever 😂
I haven’t watched the video yet, but all I’m gonna say, is that every other television company do the exact same thing, think about the razors and prices with Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney+, and all of these companies/jobs all of the time so just because they are a TV channel in the UK, it doesn’t make them exempt from cutting to save money I’m saying that but it doesn’t matter if I agree or disagree with what I said I won’t say my opinion, but most people can probably get
This all places the pieces for TV's final form. Fully IP based over FTTP and 5G, with "channels" replaced with "apps". Most separate channels will merge with upstream apps, and most remaining channels will be automated playlists with adverts in between. Only news and live events will have traditional channels in the future.
Channel 4 has been trying for the past few years to be successful on TH-cam. It’s not working to say the least, I see their advertisements on TH-cam all the time, trying to promote their videos.
Channel 4 is a publisher broadcaster so they aren't able to get the same income that ITV and the BBC's production companies get from selling programmes. A problem with Channel 4's workforce is they aren't going to be producers and those working on the programmes and unless they have a load of people commissioning programmes and advertising sales teams what are they doing? The music channels that channel 4 owns they bought 50% of The Box channels in the late 2000s before they took them over in the 2010s. I think it was because Channel 4 wanted to make more money from advertising and Bauer wanted to close the channels. Had the channels not been taken over by channel 4 then channel 4 would lose advertising sales from those channels and have less power as an advertising space seller. Channel 4 also sells advertising for the UKTV network.
Bonus section channel 4 kids it’s not going to shut down despite it losing a few hours over the last couple of months it currently runs 6 am to 8 am and 4 pm to 6 pm on weekdays and weekends 6 am to 9:30 am and 2:30 pm to 6 pm some of the shows on this block including Angry Birds Toons My Little Pony 2010 Tayo the Little Bus oddballs Pencilmation Annoying Orange and many more there’s about 36 shows on this block I want to mention is booked in on the 4th of September 2023 The newest update happened on the 11th of March 2024 on the 16th of March 2024

We all watched Blockbuster dying many years ago.
TV ignored it and is going the same way
Oh no………….Channel 4 is in SERIOUS trouble now. Why can’t 2024 start off good for terrestrial TV channels. At least you can still entertain us Adam.😀😀😀
I try my best!
Just read a article regarding this so glad your covering this topic
In hindsight it looks like privatising it wasn't such a bad idea after all, if this is the alternative.
Perhaps Channel 4 should try making fresh TV rather than endless repeats on all its channels!
Kerrang TV was one of the go to's for me and my friends in our teens so it going is gonna be sad.
when chanel 4 launched it was odd and quirky and amateurish with all manner of interesting stuff. now it's just bland. whats the point of it ?
Yes, it was a truly eclectic channel, with everything from Countdown and Brookside through to obscure arthouse films. Lots of minority interest programmes covering various niches. Also they were a massive shot in the arm for British filmmaking when it was in the doldrums.
I know that this probably will not work, but what if any of us were to make a petition and prevent Channel 4 from shutting down its dedicated music channels?
It's a shame this had to happen, it would so much better if they kept this channels up on the air!..
1:34 fast forward is what you call it when you’re going forward on videos or anything you’re watching… it’s like rewind. It’s what we still call it?
e4 is the channel I watch the most, 4seven is good cuz grand designs is on often lol. miss 4music, was a good one to shove on when cleaning the house haha
Grand Designs Fast TV streaming channel can do the same job then
@@PhilipMurphy8Extra yes very true i’d like that😂 such a good show
4 music could have probably been saved if they didn’t take the entertainment stuff off it and didn’t open up a full new channel (E4Xtra)
I wonder did they try to sell off these music channels before deciding to close them down. Didnt watch them all but was sometimes handy just to have a music channel on on the background.
No no no! Not 4Music! Also not their Horseferry Road HQ. I'm planning a visit there later this year. Good vid by the way
They're not closing it. Only moving staff to the Leeds HQ.
@@glassowliephew that's a relief
Rest in peace the Channel 4 channels (2000s - 2024)
E4, Film4, 4Seven, E4 Extra and More4 will be staying
@@DavidDoom95E4 Extra Never Dies...
Magic TV is Dying
If Channel 4 will going to minimize their operations, Channel4/E4/Film4 should be kept for a while.
I WILL MISS 4MUSIC!! I remember watching Charmed and This Week’s Fresh Music Top 20 on there…
The Countdown prize will now be a tea cup.
I was thinking more of a pen
MTV should buy out Channel 4 and revive their entire music channel portfolio:
Magic TV (forthcoming)
Kerrang! TV (forthcoming)
Kiss TV (forthcoming)
4Music (Forthcoming)
The Box (Forthcoming)
Box Upfront (9/1/2020)
Box Hits (29/6/2022)
I liked it when 4Music Aired Episodes Of Scrubs
I used to go to Magic TV to get all my music video and program content
And so The Box Music Channels will be rebranded to The New MTV Music Channels
Tied to the MTV brand:
MTV Upfront
Please don't go, C4. You are our last outpost of defence against American takeovers. Your library is legendary, there is only room for some subscription services to survive, and by the way, I'm NEVER going to buy a new t.v. just to watch freely.
I'm genuinely sad that Kerrang TV is shutting down. Guess I'll have to watch Clubland TV instead!
You say that on TH-cam where you could stick on any song you like or discover something new even
I'm very sad that Kiss TV is shutting down. Guess I'll have to watch Now 70s Instead!
bit of Clubland babes!
Adam, Bad News: Tiny Pop Is Closing Their Linear Channel
Deary me! How quickly TV changes
@@AdamMartyn This Is Really Disappointing........
@@AdamMartynyeah TV is changing so fast. Including the BBC SD Channels closing down on certain platforms, there have already been more final shutdowns or announced final shutdowns this year than we had the whole of last year.
And we’re only in January…
Children's TV is almost certainly going to become fully online soon, with maybe the exception of Cbeebies.
@@normixI think cartoon network and nick should stay on pay TV but Disney should come back on Freeview/freely
It's mad to think how music videos aren't as important as they once were! I used to look forward to watching them on 4Music!
4 Music was the channel I watched for music
Sounds like they’ve made a string of bad decisions one after another. It feels like they don’t know what they’re doing. 🤦♀️
The box dial in was a pain in the arse. You could call in a song at 9am and not hear it until 6pm
6 six channels that all seem to do basically the same thing and a mission to 'move online' like that realistically means anything. Deliver your content however you like, it means nothing if nobody watches it.
Adam, I loved Magic TV, I used to get all my music video and program content from there
Astra Satellite in the 90s had a way to select music videos across europe with the channel lifestyle Satellite Jukebox
That's Not All, Tiny Pop is shutting down and moving online on 20th March
Kerrang, Kiss and Magic were not on Freeview and I don’t think they ever have been, meaning many don’t even know they exist
2:19 Fast Forward always reminds me of the BBC magazine created to rival Smash Hits.
Happy New Year!
My guess son the channels to be the next to go from Channel 4 would be
1. E4xtra
2. 4seven
3. More4 (Because some of it's shows airs on Channel 4)
4. E4 (considering the audience is mainly those who may consume stuff online)
5. Film4 would be the last (as you said it is a production company) and plus it airs movies
Plus I have a feeling The Simpsons may just be the end for Channel 4 (I'm calling on that indeed)
Also, Tiny Pop (a kids channel for certain regions of Freeview) is set to move to online on March 20th/21st? As it is becoming a "FAST" channel. And Tiny Pop is a "pre-school" channel. I could took a guess that Tiny Pop was leaving linear tv as they keep prompting the Pop Player app
I feel TV today is just becoming "backwards".
I'm 47 n I subscribe 2 the channel 4+ it's worth the £3.99 a month 2 get rid of the ads
Someones it's nice just to flick through the music channels with loading apps
So bad for Kerrang TV, I use to put it on and I'm in France
Man… after hearing this news i’m starting to feel worried about E4 and the other sister channels as a whole, in fact one of my compilations covering One of C4’s sister channels (E4) was what started my channel from the GROUND UP as I shared this compilation to you Adam and that was back in 2019! I was 10 years old when I done that! I literally do not want any of these sister channels to end up gutted like the music channels especially E4 cause I grew up with that channel, but let’s just wait and see. 😔
E4's been dead for years, who wants to watch a channel that mainly airs sped up, cut and censored reruns?
@@talibong9518Well…
I got sky Q and notice about 40-50 channels have closed since last year include the hd switch to bbc you can only watch hd versions it shame cos eveything seem to be close to movr to sky stream services it be sad to lose these channels i heard E4 is facr closure to the did same with some radio stations in December 2023
Are the box music channels the ones where you can see the presenters?
Married at First Sight channel? Don't they know its trash like this and property shows focusing on the London belt that has finished off Channel 4 as a viewing option for a large amount of the viewing public.
A fast TV channel for Countdown would be amusing for a little bit however
@@PhilipMurphy8Extra A channel or programming block on late night Channel 4 showing a lot of their past programmes from the 4 Later era would get a lot more viewers watching. I even remembered T4 in Sunday afternoons showing music performances by flavour of the month bands inbetween them showing sci-fi shows.
It's official, Channel 4 has ran out of ideas
More 4 was actually originally supposed to be a highbrow Channel 4 channel, But like BBC Four that has fallen by the wayside through the years
Sad but C4's heyday has already long gone, it used to be my "go to" channel, innovative and brave but for a long time now they've mainly churned out the same cheap reality crap as the other channels. Basically the programmes are only there to separate the ads.
The closure of Kerrang means no more rock music channels in the UK!
There's still Now Rock but that channel is hit & miss with it's output.
@@deswynne8172 ah yes, I forgot about that channels as it’s not in Ireland
It’s sad. If pop channels are struggling then rock will certainly be struggling more. Holding out for one more mainstream rock revival until all music channels go forever 😂
didn't know channel 4 had a paid platform
This is your fault, Netflix
How is it?
Badly Drawn Boy!
I'm very sad that Magic TV is shutting down. Guess I'll have to watch Now Rock Instead!
I haven’t watched the video yet, but all I’m gonna say, is that every other television company do the exact same thing, think about the razors and prices with Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney+, and all of these companies/jobs all of the time so just because they are a TV channel in the UK, it doesn’t make them exempt from cutting to save money I’m saying that but it doesn’t matter if I agree or disagree with what I said I won’t say my opinion, but most people can probably get
Very sad , Ch4 was amazing when launched in the 1980’s , i last time I watched Ch4 was watching the snow man last Christmas -
The programming is dire
This all places the pieces for TV's final form. Fully IP based over FTTP and 5G, with "channels" replaced with "apps". Most separate channels will merge with upstream apps, and most remaining channels will be automated playlists with adverts in between. Only news and live events will have traditional channels in the future.
I didn’t realise Channel 4 owned those music channels. Have they always be owned by them or did C4 buy them at some point?
I should have finished watching the video first because you then went on to talk about that after I posted the comment 😂
C4 bought the Box bunch outright in 2019 apparently, after having a 50% share with Bauer for years prior
