    Just went through this program down in Phoenix. I drove 20 yrs ago, so I wasn't technically new, but after all these years it made for a good refresher. Almost everyone else was brand new to driving. The trainers did a great job bringing folks up to speed and teaching them the Schneider way. The program is demanding and not everyone makes it, but when you consider you're about to be responsible for roughly $250k of truck, trailer and load, it makes sense that the company wants to ensure you understand their expectations and can demonstrate competence.

      Thanks for sharing, James. We're glad you had a great orientation experience at our Phoenix facility. Our number one goal is to make sure drivers are safe and ready to drive.

    I think the videos you are making are a fantastic idea. I know of no other company doing anything similar, though I haven't checked everywhere.

    The mountain driving is probably the only thing I'm worried about, because watching this video I didn't know that using your Jake brake could put you in a spin

    Do you go home after orientation, before officially starting your job?

    • @schneiderjobs
      @schneiderjobs  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Ashley, drivers are typically given home time after orientation unless otherwise specified. Drivers will talk with their DBL (driver manager) and work out those details during orientation.

    Button hooks are wrong. Should jug handle now. You drive past the turn where your passenger window is aligned with the road you're wanting to go

    Although most trucks are automatic, could you chose to occasionally drive a manual unit?

    • @schneiderjobs
      @schneiderjobs  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      We are currently over 3/4 of the way in our transition to an all automated transmission truck fleet. So you wouldn't be able to request a manual. Learn more about our trucks and equipment at: sni.jobs/EquipmentYT

    Hi there! I got my CDL a little under 3 years ago, but have not driven a single mile since then. Basically, I am still in my current occupation and haven't made the transition into the trucking business. So, my question is: What do you recommend for me if I was interested in driving for Schneider? I heard you mention a few times that you are not a "school," so should I brush up on my skills somehow, before I go through your school, or do you think that might not be necessary. Thank you!

    Don't lie they don't do anything like this as said in training they want to us to drive from very 2nd day like professional driver . they don't teach proper right turn even or left turn without showing us we have to do it our way .

  • @OP-ik7qb
    @OP-ik7qb 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    He said “we are not school”... what does that even mean? Dude the company is paying you for training people and if you don’t have patience you should find another job. This gentleman with that attitude is not going to help for new drivers.

    • @schneiderjobs
      @schneiderjobs  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there, thanks for the comment. Drivers are required to attend CDL school to obtain a CDL prior to coming to Schneider for orientation to start their new job. Steve is a long-time driver instructor who has helped hundreds of new Schneider drivers excel in orientation and be successful out on the road!
