- 1 hour sound of Woodpigeon
The common wood pigeon or common woodpigeon (Columba palumbus), also known as simply wood pigeon or woodpigeon, is a large species in the dove and pigeon family (Columbidae), native to the western Palearctic. It belongs to the genus Columba, which includes closely related species such as the rock dove (Columba livia). It has historically been known as the ring dove, and is locally known in southeast England as the "culver";[2] the latter name has given rise to several areas known for keeping pigeons to be named after it, such as Culver Down. It has a flexible diet, predominantly feeding on vegetable matter, including cereal crops, leading to them being regarded as an agricultural pest. Wood pigeons are extensively hunted over large parts of their range, but this does not seem to have a great impact on their population.

The Sound of this pigeon gives so much memories of being a child outside with not a single worry in the world such a relaxing sound
the sound of a British morning
Yeah
Underaited comment
You know you stayed up too late when you hear this
Omg i have memories from my childhood of this.
Not really. This bird makes this sound up until about 10:15am in the morning.
This is the theme of waking up on camping and you hear the bacon sizzling and everyone talking around the tent across green fields
Waking up and already grilling meat? 🤢
Full english
Waking up with this sound, then opening your tent and looking at the green, misty field across you
I have a wounded pigeon at home, hes getting better. When i play it to him he starts eating, feeling more alive.
Give us an update
I just rescued a woody with a broken wing, she is currently in a box waiting to go to a rehabber but I am playing this for her to hopefully make her feel better as she must be so stressed :(
My fucking mother told me this was the sound owls make and I have been enchanted by it every morning my whole life.
Life is a lie, I want to die. It was a motherfucking pidgeon
Reminds me of mornings at my grandparents house, not a care in the world
literally everywhere in the UK are pigeons
@@janvertonghen14 thank you
Beautiful. I love that last little bit tacked on the end of the call, as if the creature wasn’t sure whether to go on or not. Thanks for posting this.
...or it's running out of breath? ( that's my explanation whenever I hear it ;))
That is the last note of the call though. Note (no pun intended) how the pigeon doesn't sing that note when the call begins, but always at the end, and then it repeats or not. We tend to think the lowest note is the last because that's how we talk. But that doesn't seem to be the case in the pigeon's mind.
@@westelaudio943 it does make that note when it starts, it’s just quicker and quieter
Waking up in the Netherlands
"It's your fault, tracey! it's your fault, tracey! it's your fault, tracey! it's."
used to hear this bird when i was a little kid thinking it was an owl in the morning, it used to make me feel so happy and peaceful. i haven't heard this in real life for a really long time, nor have i felt peace like i used to when i was a kid so hearing this video brought back a lot of memories and i shed a few tears. thank you.
As a pigeon whit a pp i confirm this is true
this is the only video on youtube that shows their true call. many people don't realise this but the strong note is the first note in their call, not the second. e.g. if you imagine their call says
"my CALL sounds.. like this/ my CALL sounds.. like this/ my CALL sounds.. like this"
that is an incorrect interpretation. the call actually starts on the "second" note and there is a large gap afterwards which then strings into the next gap. so the call is really
"CALL sounds.. like this... my / CALL sounds.. like this... my / CALL sounds... like this.. my / CALL sounds.. like this... my!"
they always end on the "my!". e.g. at 0:13 listen for the extra woop at the end. and then listen to the next call, it starts at the strong hit
This is the one thing that calms me down my fav animal too
Defo doesn't wake you up in the morning...
Sooo beautiful. Love pigeons. The collared dove and wood pigeon are great sounds to relax and meditate to.
Beautiful? Are you mad. They're vermin. My neighbour has a shed full of them and they all need shooting.
I love pigeons too!!! ❤🕊️They're amazing!!!😍

It makes me feel uncomfortable cos it sounds like someone is having a wheezing attack of breathlessness
Reminds me of waking up on either a roasting hot morning or a freezing cold morning prior to 2019
Hello How are you ? I love and like pigeons, when I leave school I always feed them forever, thank you very much for sharing❤🎉
It's cool how they have a slightly different pattern in their singing/call, depending on the region

It's the morning in Poland! I literally had to close my window before playing the video, otherwise I wasn't sure where the sound was actually coming from 😂
They are common in rural areas of germany as well. I remember often hearing it as a kid, even though back then I didn't know which bird was making it.
Worst recording ever might as well dropped your mic on the m1
