Alyssa played against my sons' u19 in an MLS Next event 12/2022. Had now clue who she was and that she had debuted for USWNT a month earlier at Wembley. Soon after I'm hearing about a player turning down Stanford and deciding to go pro. Heard Arsenal/England legend, Ian Wright, commenting on her impressive goal in a friendly for Angel City. :D

Alyssa Thompson definitely has a future for the USWNT. Gisele is a bit younger but I see a future for her as well. Can you imagine in the next World Cup the Thompson sisters coming off the bench… I wouldn’t want to be the other team. I think both of these girls will be at the futures camp in January and I could see Gisele making a case for that left back position on the senior team in the coming years. The future is bright for the USWNT
Tbh I actually think there’s more of a place for Gisele on that roster than Alyssa right now. Having to break into a position that’s monopolized by 3 of the biggest stars on the team, who are all reaching their physical primes, isn’t going to be easy at Alyssa’s age
@ great point! I could definitely see them both making that World Cup roster. But I think Alyssa would definitely get less playing time considering the front line is very stacked. I’ll take Alyssa backing up Mal and Gisele backing up Krueger or even Fox on the left and maybe Sams at right back playing in almost another center back roll. Dream back line and subs for World Cup… Girma, Davidson, Fox, Sams, Sonnett, Krueger, G Thompson
Yeah both are more subs at this point, Alyssa definitely a super sub who could absolutely torch tired legs in the 2nd half of games. She and Soph are very similar and you could realistically use them interchangeably.

My two oldest are 13 months apart and have been best friends for their entire lives. I think they are amazing. Twins would have been easier though!
