Blessing of the week :
The Greatest Commandment Part 3 :
When asked what is the Greatest Commandment, Jesus responded in two parts;
“Love the LORD your God with all of your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind and with all your strength. And the second is to love your neighbour as yourself. ” Mark 12:30-31. He followed this up by saying that the entire ‘Law and Prophets” were fulfilled by these two commandments. (Matthew 22:40)
By “Law and Prophets” he was referring to the Ten Commandments given to Moses 1500 hundred years earlier. In other words, Jesus was saying by loving God and loving people you would fulfill the Ten Commandment. How ?
Because the first four of the Ten Commandments have to do with loving God : #1 - You shall have no other gods before me. # 2 You shall not bow down to any images. # 3 You shall not take the name of your LORD your God in vain. # 4 You shall keep the Sabbath holy.
The last six of the Ten Commandments have to do with with ‘loving your neighbour as yourself” : # 5 Honour your father and your mother. # 6 You shall not murder. # 7 You shall not commit adultery. # 8 You shall not steal. #9 You shall not lie. #10 You shall not covet what your neighbour’s possessions.
Most messed up lives on planet earth inside and outside of prisons from time in memorial have to do with a violation of Commandents 5 to 10.
Christ came to empower us supernaturally (…if we choose to make Him the Lord of our lives) to live out the Greatest Commandment here on earth. It is not possible naturally.
