Replacing Forward Cabin Windows! - Emerald Isle: Ep.82 Fishing Boat Refit Backlog

- Backlog episode. In this video, we replace our cabin windows. The frames and sealant were allowing water to leak into the cabin. To make sufficient repairs they required a lot of cleaning up. On further inspection, we decided to modify the frames by fiberglassing over and completely sealing them in. Also replacing the windows with 1/2" Lexan.

The fleet's favourite boat !
Great at least you didn’t have to cut the whole frame out. There some good things. Looks real good. Can’t wait till you redo the inside cabin.
As always Thanks for bringing us along.
For such bespoke work, you Gents have always got it covered.
Impressive work as usual Gentlemen.

It's looking great you guys. Beautiful
I love watching this!!! ❤❤❤gosh you have come such a long way with The Emerald Isle!! Smart fixing up those windows to be less maintenance !! When you were talking about having to Sand down and re stain and varnish every year. It gave me flashbacks from my childhood. My dad brought us a project home one fall... It was just a little boat to take up to the lakes with an outboard motor. The motor was perfect ran great ...the boat was a a total mess. He and I spent every Spare moment all winter stripping that boat down in the garage. Underneath layers of ugly paint was a beautiful mahogany boat. It was gorgeous When we got done and everybody would stop us and ask about it when we take it outfishing up on the lakes in California. BUT OMG what a pain in the butt every winter it was Sand it down and revarnish it. LOL
You two remind me a bit of those days with my father and I. Fix it up the boat and going fishing. Of course, we were not fishing out in the ocean and commercially, but you get the connection. I could remember the first time daddy let me drive that boat...Waaaahooo!! Lol
Nice to see you Anita and T !!
Nice job fellas! You are true craftsman!
Nice tidy job, Looks great. now I know what material to use for window replacement on my boat.

GOOD JOB GUYS IT'S NOT GOING AS FAST AS YOU WOULD LIKE BUT GETTING THINGS RIGHT AND LOOKING GOOD, WORKING GOOD WHICH WILL LAST DECADES WORRY FREE STAY SAFE
Excellent job guys! The windows look better than glass. Nice to see true quality expressed throughout all your hard work. I'm definitely impressed! 👍👌💖
Came out really nice
Thanks!
Beautiful job!
A coating tip
Use Cetol 1 as a primer coat, over your window wood, the. Cetol 23 and do a few coats...great stuff. Ive applied on 7 different wood structures. Wood grain is best look, but for a weather coating, nothing beats cetol
lookin good guys 👍👍👍
Looks great 👍
That’s already a nice looking boat and getting better
Love watching this boat come together. Nice job!!
Wow! The new windows look great. The outside trim work came out looking great. You and Dad out did yourselves. What a team you two guys make. Can I hire you to help me with some honey do’s?
Lol

Good...
You guys almost build a new boat. I'm withing all time you and this is supper large project. everything was replaced. I thing that was cost a lot of money. Hope you will start use it ang get money back.
lookin prerdie.
Hi guys, So why did you opt in for installing windows from the inside and not the out side?
Good
Forget fishing,, y'all need to go into the boat rebuilding business! lol
Nice job on those windows. Will you have windshield wipers on window for when it rains, or is that not necessary?
It looks like this boat will last a long time now since you have rebuilt all the weak points.
With your guys skills and knowledge of what you need and want should have just built a new boat. All it takes is money
Having spent a lifetime in Alaska I shudder whenever I see wood around the water. In California where they have a plethora of good weather and little to do wood looks good. Here anywhere it is outdoors is a problem in the making. First thing I looked for in a boat was the lack of wood and a "hose down" finish. I have tried every kind of product to keep wood going and none of them work. Most bright finishes if not all don't even hold the wood until next year when you have to do it all again. Time consuming and not one you are going to win.
Oo t is there hello
Should of used Plexi so you have to do it all again in 3 years...lol
I DONT KNOW WHEN THIS WAS RECORDED BUT IF YOU EVER HAVE TO DO SOMETHING LIKE THIS AGAIN I ALWAYS USE A 4 .5 IN ORBITAL D A SANDER AND THEY WORK ABSOLUTELY PERFECT FOR THAT STUFF
