My great great grandmother Rebecca Lawrence had a brother named Amos Jesse Campbell Lawrence who was married to a woman named Rosabelle Carvalho, who was of Sephardic Jewish and most likely African descent, Rosabelle's father died during the 1907 Kingston Earthquake and was married to a woman with the surname of DeCasseres

I would like to put it straight, the wider Jamaican population who's parents and grandparents who took the time to tell their children and grandchildren are perfectly aware of their Portuguese Spanish Jewish origins they .night not be in the knowledge to know it is termed as Sephardic. But I ask that the Jewish origins and lineage of the afro population be respected at all levels. I'm regard to the social life and relationship Jews had with the European colonial population was very interesting. Animosity only raised its head when they could not compete with Jews in a economic level. What has not been mentioned and ignored is the relationship Jewish women had with the make Christian population. Jews in Jamaica were very integrated with the upper midde class and intermarried. The notion the Sephardim kept themselves to themselves is untrue.
