I was wondering how do you sharpen your razor blade and what tools (sharpener) do you use for it ? Would you be able to recommend something for me ? This morning, we dismounted our razor and remove the hair from it thinking that we would have a better tool when shaving our evil poodle named Jambon. It didn't work since the razor still functioned like hell. I always hear you saying you have to sharpen your blade when you use it on cats because of their sensible skin but I'm still clueless on the techniques. Would it be possible to you so show us on your channel ? Thank you so much ! I really enjoy everything you do for your community.
Oliver is absolutely hilarious. From half falling asleep, half fighting in the bath to his "ooh food the bath doesn't exist" moment to him finding the hole in the rage cage he was a riot from beginning to end.
To answer the comments directed to Oliver’s paw-rents: 1) he has been checked for hyperthyroidism and diabetes, he’s just weird. The vets had the same thoughts and were equally surprised lol, so we just follow their dietary instructions 2) his gabapentin is only for travel, he gets extremely anxious in the car and we had to travel a bit to get to Vanessa. If only it suppressed his appetite… 3) thank you for all of the compliments on our beautiful boy!! We (including Oliver) appreciate your kindness
Laying down mid bath in silent protest. Then all it takes is a treat, with no hoodie on. And he couldn't careless about the water. What an oddball cat, maybe one of the best behaved I've seen on your channel. Cute, quirky little guy.
He looks so delightfully soft at the end. He is so unashamedly food motivated I could picture him calmly chowing down on a treat before a field of barking dogs in the middle of a lightning storm 😂
Thank you so much Vanessa! This video turned out wonderful, my family has been laughing and absolutely loving this! Thank you for taking such good care of our boy!❤️
Oliver's a wonderful boy. His groom was a delight to see. Bonus, I developed an unreasonable passion for British Shorthairs a few years ago, for no particular reason that I can figure out. I've never even met one. I just saw a photo for the umpteenth time, and wham! So I loved seeing Oliver. Thanks for sharing him. Please give him some extra scritches through that plush fur from me.
May I just say you have done an excellent job as an owner keeping his weight in check. I know that cannot be easy, especially with him being so clever and a consummate food ninja. I salute you.
Gabapentin is such a strong med, I cant believe he was able to move around that much!!! I had a kitty with neurological disease which caused massive behavioral changes. She was prescribed this drug and she slept through baths.
And here I am taking 1800 Mg of it before going to work every day 😅🤣. It helps with nerve damage, which I have a fair amount of due to injuries in my lower back and right arm. Edited for clarity
I have a tortie that I bottle-raised after she was abandoned. She has major tortitude and hates everyone, especially children. She hates her paws messed with and vet appointments are...interesting. She ends up getting 100mg of gabapentin before vet visits to sedate her enough so the vet can handle her and such. Even then she'll get an adrenaline surge and push through the sedation. I hope I never have to bathe her, because I'm not sure even being drugged would work for her.
Most cats don't have a strong enough reaction to literally sleep through visits. For really fractious cats it's usually *just* enough to make them somewhat manageable.
@masterdisciple6542 had a cat once that had to be brought to the clinic like 3 or 4 separate times on differing sedation meds and amounts because by the time he got in, he was ready to fight
This to me looks like that disorder where the brain does not shut off the hunger trigger after detecting food in the stomach. It definitely seems like the owners are keeping a good care of the cat though, this is 100% their positive doing
My sister's cat Lucy was food obsessed. She was found as a kitten outdoors in the winter nearly dead from hypothermia and mild brain damage so we think that had something to do with it. For several years of her life she literally just sat by her food bowl waiting for more food. She'd only leave it if she thought there was food somewhere else. As she's gotten older and feels more secure she's much less obsessed. She still loves food way more than the average cat but she actually naps and plays and doesn't just sit by her food bowl all day.
I have a cat like this! he is EXTREMELY food motivated, and buff!! We have do to so much to keep him away from human food, we got a trashcan with a lid, a babygate(failure), and an automatic dispenser so he get a tiny amount regularly. He was a stray tomcat so he's insecure about his meals, luckily he isn't overweight!
Same! We got a stray and he is so so food motivated. When we first got him, he would eat so fast that he would be ill, and we were told it was due to food insecurity. We have to weigh all his food, and shut the kitchen door when we are not in there, he is extremely vocal when he wants food and just screams at us like a grumpy crow. He took to waking us up at unseasonable hours and then running to the kitchen! We tried a baby gate (fail), and now just have a timed feeder in the hall for a very early breakfast. He also gets reflux and has to have meds!
My brother has a British Shorthair called Max, it seems to be in the breed to be so food motivated. They tried a bin with a lid where you push the top gently and the lid opens, Max broke that by jumping on it to get onto the kitchen counter looking for food. My sister-in-law loves to serve nibbles before a meal and we all spend our time moving Max away from the food. It's so funny watching him try to sneak past us. He's never tried to steal food from the dinner table though, so he has some manners. He also has the most bizarre way of sleeping, it's like he can't be bothered to hold his own head up so he'll lay by the coffee table or on the sofa next to a cushion and rest his chin on it.
Oliver in happy hoodie trying to escape the rage cage via the hand hole. My favourite scene of the video, Oliver is a very beautiful cat! Nice job as usual Vanessa!
I've been really missing my cat these past few days, as I wasn't able to take her to university with me. It's so amusing seeing all these cats, and imagining how my little Morgan would react to being groomed She's quite friendly and calm, but hates even getting her face cleaned or her paws touched. She's very dramatic and grumbly, she's got a very distinct meow and I just know she would be screaming the house down- she does it just being in a cage
I had a food obsessed cat. He knew a lot of tricks because it was great for training, but I needed to be careful about portion control so he didn't turn into a fur covered basketball.
Gabapenton can be quite amusing. Old roommate's cat had to be on it for a couple operations, became such a cuddly little guy when he usually was just a cranky old man. Had to watch him to make sure he didn't decide to swandive down the stairs as well.
When you told us he was on drugs, I thought it was because he had anger management issues or anxiety. I had no idea it was because he was hungry all the time. 😂 😂 Silly me.
I have to say I'm glad he's being seen by a vet as that's incredibly unusual behaviours for a cat. You did a lovely job with him and his coat looked wonderful, what a well mannered gentleman Oliver was.... as long as he was fed 😊😂
He's like, I don't want to go back in my house, the treats are out here!! Beautiful boy! I hope his obsession with food isn't a medical condition. My poor boy was food motivated and he turned out to be diabetic. He was sooo pathetically thin under all his fur. You did a wonderful job as usual.
Oh my goodness! I chuckled through the whole groom. Oliver was, indeed, comical as well as adorable. At least he didn't try to 'murder' you like some of the cats you've groomed.
I have a cat that came as a stray one night, peering into my window, crying; her body covered in sleet. 9 years later, she of course, “rules the roost,” but apparently, from that time of hunger, she still has anxiety if the bottom of the food dish shines through, or if I simply take up her dish to clean and refill. Over the years, she grew quite portly from constantly eating, but in her dotage, has thinned out a bit. Now, she really needs a tummy tuck!

It was fun to watch Oliver being bathed. His coat really must be dense.
All cats are weird, each in their own way. Oliver is awesome. Like him, I can tolerate just about anything if there's food.
Some cats are just foodaholics… we’ve had one. My friend has one too.
According to Vanessa, he's a VERY strong boy. I'm sure all the food goes right to his muscles!!!
Vanessa, I am once again begging you for a calendar of silly animals with happy hoodies on, because the faces they make are just fantastical 🤣
