Doesn't this make her a Common Law Wife??! I know in some areas, even if not, but just a supporting partner, would get monetary support of some kind.
She has prob been his tax dependent, and gave up her life to be house wife and mother. That does hold ground legally.
And lets face it, kids usually have to list parents and such on college apps. Even if dad covered tuition. But considering he's teaching them "survival" mode, poss not.... A little bit of leverage, with the kids.
I hate to think of the 16yo staying with him, but A. she's old enough to ride out her childhood without much more affects, and B. if she moves in with mom, he HAS to pay child support.

She should’ve left early on, considering that op told her bf 5 years into their relationship that she wanted to be married, yet he continued to stall. They have 4 kids and never got married. I feel a bit bad because she wasted 3 decades of her life for a man who never intended to marry her, even though he knew she wanted to be married. She should’ve left him years ago. This is exactly why you should be married before you have kids.

This is actually typical, she doesn’t care about all the things he did for her and their children, she care about the one thing he didn’t do!!! Seems like she was envious of his success and secretly competed with him. I’m still floored at how a life long dependent can talk about a power imbalance, this proves she has been listening to feminist propaganda, but she was living the high life due to that imbalance!!! Did anyone else notice how she was trying to get white collar jobs at retirement age with no experience?!?! That man sheltered her too much, she thinks all she has to do is show up and she’ll be an executive just like her and she’ll probably make more than him!!! This woman ruined her life listening to the delusional brigade and now she bouncing from shelter to shelter while she could be traveling the world FOR FREE AS A MARRIED WOMAN!!! Her envy and jealousy got her here and there is no accountability in sight!!!

Should have just married him and then divorced him to get half his assets. Woman gave up her life and prospects to play a support role for her family, in turn, he was able to work much more and worry less about home matters and able to make a better career. She is a partner in that, even if he borderline screwed it up at the end of his career.
Divorce is usually a terrible answer. But when it comes to someone who still hasn't reached manhood in his fifties, yeah, she should have been forward thinking about it.

The only thing he was going to do was make sure she didn't leave him so that he would have his live in made. That there would be someone there when he got too old to screw around behind her. Not only that there's no bank accounts in her name Hi there? There is nothing in her name is there? Oh by the way the kids are going to loan her clothes so he kept all of her clothes what about jewelry Where is the jewelry usually the women can at least walk away with some jewelry but I don't see that do you No this a****** even asked for the engagement ring back yeah he is a creep She stayed because she had children with him and she wanted the kids to have the benefit of that because why She knew he wouldn't give her any money for them She knew he was a creep but she was how do they call it emotionally abused. I love it I love it when there's no physical abuse scene you guys will just treat the woman like dirt but when a woman gets herself in a situation where she doesn't really know how to walk out well she did it to herself yeah she did She should have walked out the minute that guy said no I'm not going to marry you and believe me there's a lot of us who are stupid and we get ourselves in this situation and there's a lot of men who get themselves in that kind of situation too with a woman that she has kids and he doesn't know how to get himself unentangled from that kind of person but they give her bank accounts they give her things they give her stuff because they don't want to leave her hanging if that something happens to them This guy has made sure that if anything happens to him she is still left without a thing if he were killed in the car accident. I can guarantee you there isn't a will with her name on it at all. I love how you all think she's a gold digger No she honestly wasn't love and thought that it would come back that she was showing him she loved him but narcissist nothing you do shows them teaches them or retrains them You can't change them but there's millions of these women out there and men. She would of had a lot more time during the divorce finalizing to find a place and a job. she would of received alimony after the divorce as to provide until she could find a job. There is NO scenario she was better off not being married to the man.

I remember this story and it's sad. She played the role of wife and homemaker for 30+ years. I say played because HE refused to marry her because HE thought being an executives girlfriend (his words) was enough and she should be lucky to have that. Stupidly, she stayed, gave him 4 kids, raised them, and was for all intents and purposes his wife despite being criticized heavily in their small southern town. It was ONLY after his career ended in scandal and he was forced to retire that he proposed out of convenience to him. When she expressed hurt he basically said take it or leave it, as a matter of fact keep the ring and GTFO. There was more but the upshot was he revealed how little he loved and valued OP and as of the latest update OP was kicked to the curb, no home, no money, no rights to ANYTHING because common law is not a thing where she is scrambling to find work and shelter, her kids can't really help her because they don't want to be cut off by their dad. Sad.

I feel like she’s kind of the AH between listening to the short it seems like that she wanted marriage all this time since they were five years into it but now that he’s not an executive and wants to downsize a little bit, she kinda got upset about it I understand where she’s coming from “now you want to marry” but at the same time if you really love somebody marriage shouldn’t be so important to you that it’s an issue to go to therapy over some people just want to wait and if you’re in a committed relationship relationship you’re in a committed relationship. It was kind of stupid of her to leave after 30 years being 53 and having no job experience I mean if she really feels like she doesn’t love him anymore then that’s absolutely what she should do but if not, she’s just doing it out of spite and she never gonna make it unless she wants to tbh
Edit also she says he said take it or leave it but you want him to pay for your collage so you can leave him and not even go with him ?? Delusional
Edit 2: I do feel for her because of the way she was made fun of at the shelter , and not seeing kids as well she’s trying and has never lived in the real world both of them are wrong but also never should’ve listened to someone on Reddit “refuse to leave” when she could’ve made an agreement “I’ll leave if we can agree and some payments for some hotel till I can get a job and possibly pay back as well” would’ve gone over so much better probably

Child support would only be for those under 18 (that doesn't seem like that will last long) due to OP being unmarried to him you are not entitled to any of his assets since Op was quite well off seemingly before this all happened it is likely she does not know how to save money, due to the ex not being abusive to the child (under 18) there is little chance op would get primary custody most likely meaning its split.
