Good Story But that far north you definitely carry higher powered weaponry. A pistol does not stop a polar bear, and that is definitely a worry around there.
I guess what bothers me is just how quickly they found the coins. Stuff like that takes years to find and months to dig up. You can spend 3 months at a dig site just scouting the terrain, identifying likely locations, taking samples, and establishing a base camp. You also don't go that far north without serious gear. A satellite phone in case of emergencies, a guide (or two or three), serious firepower (bears, elks/moose, wolves/wild dogs, big cats (who can cause trouble if you spook them)), and you're not gonna take graduate students on a corporate venture like that without at least some kind of organizational representative (either the corp or whatever inter university deal got this all hooked up). Frankly, their team should probably be about a dozen strong and I'd say there should have been about half an hour of story that was just tedious (and cold) prep work. In my experience, the food is good though. Always bring a good cook. Helps make everything better.
Anyone going into such an area wouldn't be taking one single pistol. They would be taking very large rifles or shotguns loaded with stoutly loaded slugs. Polar bears easily can weigh the better part of a ton and human beings are on their menu. That's the most obvious of many other issues with the scene. I get the feeling that the author may have camped in a cold park but not anywhere near the arctic wilderness.
Honestly nothing better then some amazing horror narrations and a few bowls to relax and unwind, mindfulness at its peak. Thank you for another amazing narration!

Author... you cannot place an advanced civilisation somewhere in the frozen tundra and have them produce COINS that read like a comic book, because up there, they would have neither the technology, nor resources to produce anything even distantly similar. Also, why would they even produce coins in the first place? What were they going to buy for gold in a frozen desert? The archaeologists would have been completely baffled by such a discovery, it would have made no sense to them. - Soapstone carvings would have been a way more plausible medium, and archaeologists would have been equally happy about it. Also, the bad boy Max was a wee bit too predictable, it should have been Julie or Mitch who turned.

Sometimes I wonder if these stories are true. I heard one of these about the kandahar giant which seems to also be a recounted story amongst military members. The military telling of it seems legit as it was on national TV on a show by l.a. marzuli. So I wonder if these are real.

The word virulent is pronounced VEER- uh -lint. Also the t sound in guttural should be voiced. so Its not guh- TOUR- al but closer to GUHD-er-al but not quite though. it helps if you try to say the t sound without your tongue against the back of your teeth which puts it righr in between a tuh and duh. It's a tough one! I hope this is okay I really dk respect you and love your videos. I'm going to fall asleep to your voice now!
Nice story but I think it needs some retooling to make it more grounded - it was too easy to find the artifacts - a little more exposition hinting at the when/why and under what circumstances they were deposited was a good opportunity to paint a picture and enhance the mystery. Also, the "coins" themselves are problematic for a number of reasons - perhaps some more realistic artifacts/baubles such as uniquely stylized human forms crafted from human or animal bone.
better hope it's nothing larger than like a penguin or something if all they brought was a damn pistol lol. I feel like they would have some form of private security or at least a couple dudes that were armed going on this expedition that was way out in the middle of nowhere with a bunch of possibly humanity changing historical things. Lastly why would this dead race or whatever record it's downfall on a bunch of coins then it's like leave them in this cave? Wouldn't like big discs with like engravings of words or their dialect on it or pick the graphs pictures of some kind make more sense.
Why don't you authors make these victims KILL these monsters? It's bad enough in the movies they always hit the monster once and then leave the weapon right next to them so they can come back and finish them off! The ending would be so satisfying if you would just let the good guys kill off the bad guys! 😊

This is another one of your famous stories about someone who's so much of an unreasonable wimp that I can't listen to it. And it's soooo predictable good God soooooo predictable. I haven't even listened to it for 5 minutes and I know the bad guy is going to be left alone and he's going to get the pistol and then the narrator is probably going to go to sleep and wake up to find one or both of the other two dead and somehow whatever they discover is going to end up killing the bad guy or causing the bad guy to kill himself and probably somehow tainting the narrator to leave us with like a shitty cliffhanger.
