New Study in Earth Science Frontiers Cracks Code for Exploring Oil and Gas in the Jizhong Depression

The buried hills in the Jizhong depression in China have abundant oil and gas reserves. However, the extreme reservoir heterogeneity and the complex geology of these hills has restricted their future exploration. In this study, researchers from China identified reservoir-forming conditions and modes that can guide further exploration in the Ordovician buried hills in Jizhong depression. According to them, Sicundian and Xinzhen buried hills are the most favorable areas for further oil and gas exploration.
