But the JPEGs were just visual representations of them :) the point of the map was the space itself
This literally isnt even one to one or a map of our universe. Its just random sprites cobbled together with no respect to the actual mapping of the galaxies we see. You managed to go on and on for 14 minutes and say nothing, glazing this map which also does nothing
Space Engine is much more optimized and uses procedural generation, while Garry's Mod uses old mostly unoptimized Source engine, the point of this map isn't to make the biggest and most detailed map in videogame history, but to push Garry's Mod to its limits. Of course a Garry's Mod map can't have same level of detail and scale as Space Engine, but this map is probably the maximum detail that Garry's Mod can handle while being able to run without significant fps drops
Might as well just slap a JPEG of random noise, call it the omniverse, and set the player speed to one of a trillionth, because this is not that far away from that. I don't think 3-pixel JPEGs can count as galaxies.
Did you miss the part where they said 1:1 scale? The player speed isn't just slow, in fact it's actually extremely fast, but the map is so incomprehensibly massive that it seems like you're moving slow. You could even see this at a certain point if you watched the video, when galaxies were flying past him so fast it looked like they were glitching, but at the same time it didn't look like he was moving at all.
@@0Sirenn Doesn't matter if these "universes" don't even look like the real universe. It's just a repeating pattern of a bunch of jpegs of galaxies close together copied and pasted over and over. I don't see how it is impressive to make an unfathomably large map like this, just for the sake of being unfathomably large. You don't even get a good sense of the speed you're travelling, since source engine works with units, and not even a good reference point for anything. SpaceEngine is much better for this, not only it is infinitely more detailed (you can go into each galaxy and see the individual stars, go into each star and see the planets orbiting it, if there's any, and even land on those planets and explore the landscape), it is much more accurate to how the universe actually looks. And you get a much better sense of scale when you visit Earth, start zooming out until you leave the solar system, then leave the milky way, then leave the local group of galaxies, and each time you speed up you know how much faster you're travelling, you truly get a sense of how unfathomably large the universe is.
@@IDyn4m1CI Well you just said you "don't see how it is impressive," so obviously you don't really know what you're talking about in regards to this map. @@0Sirenn Not only me, scroll through the comments and you'll see a lot other people find it rather pointless. It might be impressive at first because it is on source engine, but it stops being interesting after about 2 minutes. Am I the only person not getting this? If the galaxies and sun are smaller than the player, then it’s not 1:1 scale. I understand why because of computer limitations obviously, but it shouldn’t be called 1:1 scale if it’s not.
they're not smaller then the player, the player is simply moving so fast from so far away that they look small, A good example is stoplights at intersections, which look small but are nearly the size of a person in actuality.
@@carteradams43if that would be the case you still could get near them close enought to make them fill more than your whole screen those are just low quality png's of galaxies put randomly in a void idk what is so impressive about that 2048 multiverses are nothing more than copy and paste of the first one
Ok so someone please tell me exactly what this map is, because it was originally implied to be a 1:1 scale of multiple universes each with their own explorable galaxies and star systems. From what I can tell this is just a bunch of pngs in a black box. Are the galaxies actually galaxy sized? Are the distances 1:1 accurate to the scale of the universe? I feel like so little information is actually given about this map.
Yeah.. I mean, I love the idea, but there's nothing you can actually do on the map. It's only for relaxation and looking around, but you can't make car races, can't play doll house with ragdolls, can't fight NPCs, test weapons or mess with physics. It is simply not a practical map for any real use you could want Gmod to have.
You should rather look at Ethan Gore's voxel engine. He can just copy and paste entire Hermitcraft worlds on a whim, render and edit billions of voxels at a time.
The biggest map i ever seen is actually a game (not exaxtly a game) call Space Engine. Every single ffucking point on that game you can go and land. Uses real data, so... Its posible that will get bigger with JWST.
Idk if man knows what 1:1 means cuz those galaxies are not at all relative to the size of the player. 1:1 if you’re a fucking colossal being larger than a galaxy sure
this has nothing on SpaceEngine, you cant even enter the galaxies here, so its not really fair to call it a 1:1 scale map because it definitely is not by any metric
Its because hes moving so fast it looks like hes bigger than galaxies, but if he were to actually aproach and come close to a galaxy, the real size would be apparen
Could someone explain how this is 1:1 scale? If it was 1:1 wouldnt you be able to go inside all of those galaxies individually and see all of the stars and planets inside as you approach them?
talk about massively over blowing something lol. "biggest map in video gaming history" made me laugh. if you want REAL insane scale, just play space engine. its quite literally more than 100,000,000 times bigger than this in terms of game geometry scale. each galaxy is filled with explorable stars, each star is filled with explorable planets, all with moons, and surfaces to land on. every type of space object we have discovered is in the game, its a 1:1 scale of the observable universe WITH extra ontop = to millions of the same space as unexplored universe, there is an unimaginable amount of explorable landable objects, a number beyond human comprehension. you can fly around as a camera with no limits, or even fly as a ship with physics, both real and science fiction. experiencing real time space time distortions from traveling faster than the speed of light with actual science being used to portray it to the player. and this game is very old, so its insane that people still dont know of its absolutely ridiculous scale. and always forget it when discussing scale of other games. same thing happened when no mans sky was a big deal. everyone simply just never compared the 2, despite space engine being that much bigger, and let me tell you this, nothing in space engine is a jpeg. all the way down to the rocks on a small asteroid. its all geometry.
Space Engine uses procedural generation and new fast high quality graphics, while Garry's Mod is an old game made on unoptimized Source engine. The point of this map isn't to show scale or make a detailed copy of the universe, but to push Source engine to its limits. Of course just a map in Garry's Mod can't reach the same scale and level of detail as Space Engine, but this is probably maximum that a Garry's Mod map can have to still be able to run on a standart computer without significant fps drops
@@error-zc4li wasnt talking about the map, but how the uploader was portraying it and saying things. also, space engine only procedurally generates undiscovered things. it contains the entire nasa database of stars and space objects minus maybe some recently discovered stuff, usually added shortly after. a really cool thing you can do is turn off procedurally generated objects and see just how little we discovered compared to how big the universe is. its a tiny little bubble compared to the rest of the game. the point of me commenting on space engine was to show the uploader something else that will blow their mind, because if they truly believe that this garys mod map is the most detailed and biggest map ever made (they did not specify in garys mod, and specifically said any game ever), then space engine will surely blow them away, even the non procedural sections.

This is sooo not a 1-1 scale. There were so many Galaxys zipping by when you were in our solar system and galaxys are way bigger than our solar system. You don't know the difference between a Galaxy and a Solar System, or you don't know how this guy programmed
this game. Or maybe youre just too excited to see it for what it really is, which is understandable. But it is sooo not a 1-1 scale of the multivers
With super noclip i was going many many many times faster than light speed, if i were to go any amount of speed with the in game options it wouldn't even appear as if i was moving, i do wish there were modeled galaxies! But the JPEGs were just visual representations of them :) the point of the map was the space itself
okay this is impressive but don't call it a 1:1 scale multiverse when it isnt even close.
This would probably take up half of my pc storage from all the textures
Maybe 6 textures total
This literally isnt even one to one or a map of our universe. Its just random sprites cobbled together with no respect to the actual mapping of the galaxies we see. You managed to go on and on for 14 minutes and say nothing, glazing this map which also does nothing
Or just try space engine
Space Engine is much more optimized and uses procedural generation, while Garry's Mod uses old mostly unoptimized Source engine, the point of this map isn't to make the biggest and most detailed map in videogame history, but to push Garry's Mod to its limits. Of course a Garry's Mod map can't have same level of detail and scale as Space Engine, but this map is probably the maximum detail that Garry's Mod can handle while being able to run without significant fps drops
@@error-zc4li ☝️🤓
@@error-zc4li So the guy who uploaded the video should change the title, right?
would be the biggest in gaming history if every galaxy has fully fleshed out 3d enviroments.
yes. then it would.
I think space engine has that
Might as well just slap a JPEG of random noise, call it the omniverse, and set the player speed to one of a trillionth, because this is not that far away from that. I don't think 3-pixel JPEGs can count as galaxies.
Yea kinda disappointed
The fact that this map has gotten so popular somewhat recently must tell you there is something to be impressed by, so really the problem here is you.
@@0Sirenn Not only me, scroll through the comments and you'll see a lot other people find it rather pointless. It might be impressive at first because it is on source engine, but it stops being interesting after about 2 minutes. SpaceEngine is much, much more impressive in how it generates it's universe, and how you can get a true sense of scale when you explore entire galaxies and then go down to the surface of an individual planet in the simulation.
Fun fact: this isn’t even CLOSE to the size of our observable universe. There are 2 trillion galaxies in our observable universe alone.
Am I the only person not getting this? If the galaxies and sun are smaller than the player, then it’s not 1:1 scale. I understand why because of computer limitations obviously, but it shouldn’t be called 1:1 scale if it’s not.
They are not smaller, they are just far away which make them look small i think
Its just textures
they're not smaller then the player, the player is simply moving so fast from so far away that they look small, A good example is stoplights at intersections, which look small but are nearly the size of a person in actuality.
Yeah its not 1 to 1 scale
@@carteradams43if that would be the case you still could get near them close enought to make them fill more than your whole screen
those are just low quality png's of galaxies put randomly in a void
idk what is so impressive about that
2048 multiverses are nothing more than copy and paste of the first one
stupidest map ever. i do not see the purpose of such a gigantic map where you can't land on anything
Why are we calling this 1:1? This is not 1:1. Not even close
It's not a 1:1 escale with the player just with the distance between the galaxies
How can bro run this on his pc 💀💀💀
he’s god
It is the way the map is made
The game takes 128 gb of ram...
Because it's just small JPEGs, the map isn't big at all, the player is just slow.
@@stalkervalleyso it's not 1:1 scale?
If I was like 5 years old I would probably be amazed right now.
those are galaxies not universes
Ok so someone please tell me exactly what this map is, because it was originally implied to be a 1:1 scale of multiple universes each with their own explorable galaxies and star systems. From what I can tell this is just a bunch of pngs in a black box. Are the galaxies actually galaxy sized? Are the distances 1:1 accurate to the scale of the universe? I feel like so little information is actually given about this map.
It literally is just images slapped onto a black map, the dude in the video is full of shit lol.
How pointless
This is so unimpressive, this would have been mildly impressive in 2010, this is ass
Space engine is better lol
You should rather look at Ethan Gore's voxel engine. He can just copy and paste entire Hermitcraft worlds on a whim, render and edit billions of voxels at a time.
Imagine hide and seek on this map
This is not what 1:1 means.
It absolutely does! The scale of the map is 1 to 1 of our universe, i was just traversing it at a speed not possible in our reality :)
It is wrong to call it the Multiverse. It is a cluster of 2048 regions, each the size of the Observable Universe.
this has nothing on SpaceEngine, you cant even enter the galaxies here, so its not really fair to call it a 1:1 scale map because it definitely is not by any metric
"Hey, you put me inside a gmod map, can you please delete the whole thing ? You do not have my conscent..."
GMOD in 1 year: "Talk to literally God through a game" 💀💀
It doesnt look like there are that that many galaxies per universe and it looks quite small actually, have you taken a look at space engine?
Yeah it's pretty lame, SpaceEngine is miles better he should check it out for sure
It’s 1 to 1 scale in size only, it would be way too taxing to have every star, planet, and other celestial objects all within the map sadly 😕
@@NecrosVideos Thank you!!! Appreciate the explanation!
1:1 is the ratio of size, and has nothing to with detail, basically.
I never seen a people being so emersed in a shapless broken point cloud before.
talk about massively over blowing something lol. "biggest map in video gaming history" made me laugh. if you want REAL insane scale, just play space engine. its quite literally more than 100,000,000 times bigger than this in terms of game geometry scale. each galaxy is filled with explorable stars, each star is filled with explorable planets, all with moons, and surfaces to land on. every type of space object we have discovered is in the game, its a 1:1 scale of the observable universe WITH extra ontop = to millions of the same space as unexplored universe, there is an unimaginable amount of explorable landable objects, a number beyond human comprehension. you can fly around as a camera with no limits, or even fly as a ship with physics, both real and science fiction. experiencing real time space time distortions from traveling faster than the speed of light with actual science being used to portray it to the player. and this game is very old, so its insane that people still dont know of its absolutely ridiculous scale. and always forget it when discussing scale of other games. same thing happened when no mans sky was a big deal. everyone simply just never compared the 2, despite space engine being that much bigger, and let me tell you this, nothing in space engine is a jpeg. all the way down to the rocks on a small asteroid. its all geometry.
porn
TH-cam commenters when the uploader wants to play things up in order to get more numbers/money:
Space Engine is the first biggest game. And space engine is looks more beautiful.
Space Engine may or may not be bigger but it's vastly more technically impressive.
You definitely need to play space engine!
At first I was thinking, "What kind of developer would leave that many graphical glitches in something "supposedly" as ambitious as the title would have you think. Then I realized you weren't using some chunk load based 2d sprite billboard producing particles you were actually just playing around with garry's mod. This is very shallow content.
If you guys want a realistic version of this, buy space engine
I was legit thinking some madlad somehow managed to put 2 trillion galaxies in each universe
yeah this map looks like there is about 2000 per "universe"
Didn't know Space Engine, or Universe Sandbox, could collaborate with Garry's mod.
Well, turns out the biggest "map" ever might be... Minecraft with a 128bits mod. The map reaches 30 Quindecillions blocks wide (30x10^90), and if i did not have my math wrong, it should be 3.6x10^51 times the observable universe (could somebody confirm that ?)
The idea of a multiverse is just dumb, what does it even mean?
garry's mod players will make this type of map rather than going to therapy.
Such bullshit its hilarious
I higly doubt there are 2 trillion galaxies in each of those universes
Nobody seems to know about SpaceEngine I guess
This is so so so overhyped its a black skybox full of jpegs
Finally, a map where I can roleplay Gurren Lagann
I guess you haven't heard of Space Engine.
Spaceengine is 100000x more impressive than this
people losing their shit over a bunch of random small png's in an empty box. literally overated
Everybody gangsta till they find thimselves playing the map inside the map
Imagine how funny it would be if some nihilist said "There's no one, I'm alone" and then he looks out the window to see THAT.
Yall have never heard of SpaceEngine it seems... developed by 1 guy btw
How many universes? You mean galaxies?
