Shelter. Porter Robinson & Madeon. These two are without a doubt the Chopin and Liszt of electronic music. Last week, Shelter celebrated its 3rd anniversary, yet it feels like yesterday that a collaboration between these two felt like a myth that would never come to be. A lot of people disregard pop and electronic music as simple and shallow, but the music of both Porter and Madeon is the antithesis of that - every small detail is accounted for, every sound is intricately designed and purposefully placed, and the works both capture and create nostalgia. With both of them soon to release new albums, this is where the future of artistic music is headed, and I wanted to share this with you all - with few little easter eggs included within the video too. I hope you enjoy and have a great Monday ♥
Hi Rousseau, beautiful track as always thank you. (btw video description still says "New videos every Monday and Thursday!" but it's just Monday now isn't it)
The animation for Shelter is the saddest yet most beautiful thing I've seen in my life. It's heartbreaking, but the lessons you can pick up from it can also build you up. Thank you for this beautiful cover, Rousseau. 💗
Towards the end, he hits the C key rhythmically and it sounded a bit like morse code. At first, it confused me because he spelled out TVANKDIX, which doesn't make any sense. But after spending waaaaaay too long looking very closely at the spacing rather than how long he held each note, I figured out he was spelling THANK YOU in morse code. - . - - - - - . . - . - . . . - - . . - . . - . - . - - - - - . . - . - - - . . - . . . . . . . . - . . -

So I normally don’t watch your covers of contemporary music - I really just love your classical performances - but when I saw this song come up I had to make an exception. I have a special relationship with this song, and these days it brings on a very intense bittersweet nostalgia. I’m very glad you chose this song to make an arrangement of, and you played it very beautifully. You’re quite overqualified for this grade of music, and, in spite of that, you more than did the song due justice in my eyes. Thank you, Rousseau.
This is a truly beautiful piece, and hearing it on piano is even greater. As you stated, people often disregard EDM as just "out-of-place sounds" but it is something so much more than that, and this song portrays that thought perfectly. Thank you.
I absolutely love how you put some of "Sad Machine" in here as well! This is a fantastic arrangement, and it really captures the emotion that the original song had!
I'm drunk and working on a project in the middle of the night and this hits me so deeply I can just melt in my bed and let the waves of this sound wash over me and carry me to blissful paradise. I should really take up the piano again. Anywho, thanks for the music. Thanks for the effort to make this. Thanks for the feelings.
Three years ago, I listened to this song as it came out, and it has become since then in one of my favorite songs ever, it's so beautifully sad it makes my heart ache, and you captured every feeling I felt from the original, thank you, Rousseau, for another incredibly beautiful song.
Nothing has been good for me in the past 2 years and it's about to get worst. Rn, I'm listening to this song and it's raining. it feels good to know that I can still listen to something that I can describe as peace, in this world. I love this version of Shelter.
