    I remember going there when I was 8 or 9 yrs old. My dad took me with some of his friends. Had a great time. I remember the food the most. Oh my goodness ❤ it!

    Very interesting, I'd never heard of this place. I grew up going to a lake called Fox Lake, near Minaki in Ontario Canada. Fox Lake was founded when the Crow's Nest Passage was being put in by the railroad. When it first came to the attention of the people only the wealthier were able to buy down there and that was mostly doctors and lawyers. But as word got back to the CNR the employees of the CNR started buying up down there and my grandfather secured a cottage down there. It is still a pretty remote place with no electricity or running water. There was a well but it ran dry so you have to supply your own water.

    I remember going to Fox Lake once when I was about 7 or 8 years old (1957) while visiting my aunt's family in Chicago. I honed my swimming skills there and my sister was a "sharkette". if memory serves me well, in order to earn that title they had to swim around the perimeter of the lake. I also performed a hula dance at the annual summer talent show. Wonderful memories!

      You're close. According to my dad, you start from the beach where the lodge is located to the opposite side of the lake. Grab a rock as proof then return to the beach. Your sister must have just been an ambitious swimmer ;)

    What about the Irish slaves ?
    There was nearly ten times as many Irish slaves in the European colonies than African.

      Qunt , they were indentured (7 years maximum) servants and not chattel( individual not progeny) and not bought and sold off.
      They were convicted criminals working odd debt

      @kleerism spelled cunt wrong.
      And that's false. That idea was introduced by a Marxist school called
      The Frankfurt School and Critical Theory. The truth is the Irish were among the first slaves. As for the 7 year thing. That was more of a guise. They were promised 7 years of service but every thing they did such as spoke out of line or rolled their eyes added years to their servitude; which was a blessing because once they reached the end of their slavery they were put to death. They were also valued lower than cattle and live stock while blacks were considered 1/3rd of a person. Blacks were held as the highest and most prestigious slaves where as Irish was at the bottom just above the Chinese.
