Thanks for this video! It's great to get some protein free options as so many products contain protein. Creme of Nature argan oil sulfate free shampoo & African Pride moisturizing lotion are some of my affordable, protein free staples.
So glad I found this channel! I'm currently recovering from protein overload, especially my edges. Realized last week all my edge control products have protein
I'm glad you found it helpful. I've learned I need to pay extra attention to the ingredients in the products I use on my hair because so many brands sneak proteins into the products.
Girl liquid castile soup with a few drops of lemon will clean your hair really dont need shampoo and also I heard of keracare hydrating shampoo im about to try soon.
To reverse protein overload try using high end products moisturizing products (I know, I know but it’ll be worth it). Try humectress by Nexxus and Joico intense hydrator K-Pam or moisture recovery. Good luck !
Nexxus humectress is loaded with protein and coconut which is horrible for someone that has protein overload and Joico Intense is loaded with Hydrolyzed Keratin and Cocodimonium Hydroxypropyl which is also terrible for someone with protein overload...
@@RedpursegreenbagI agree my hair has been ruined since using Joico as they have put protein in everything, even the shampoos. I am going back to Macadamia Deep Repair Hair Mask as cannot see any protein in it, going to find a protein-free shampoo as well.
I've gotten conflicting info as well. I've seen protein in the ingredients list but also heard from those who uses it that it doesn't include protein. I believe the ingredient list I saw had the protein towards the end which would mean it's not as much or as concentrated as other ingredients.
@@arelaxedgal yes i think It has protein at the end. The tub I got didn’t have it on the list which was super confusing. I’ve reached out to the team tho
Hi girl I'm also suffering from protein overload and I don't know whether the products I'm using have protein in them. I have Cantu Shea butter moisturizing oil, coconut and baobab oil, olive oil, almond oil, black Jamaican castor oil, avocado oil and tea tree oil. Please help.
Hi Lucy. I haven't heard of oils causing protein overload but they can cause product buildup. It looks like the Cantu product you mentioned as mineral oil and silicone which can make product buildup worse. So you may want to start with a clarifying shampoo and see what your hair is like after that.
Rice water is straight up protein so that's probably it. I haven't tried rice water and have no plans to because of all of the issues I've heard people have had after using it.
Lol. Hopefully my experience has helped you be able to avoid having protein overload. It's amazing how many hair products have one or more protein ingredient in them. I don't know how those who are protein sensitive do it.
Currently suffering from protein overload. 😪😪😪
That sucks. I've got some tips for dealing with protein overload on blog www.arelaxedgal.com/2019/04/how-to-fix-protein-overload.html

It is. It's really hard to find products that don't have any protein in them. Thanks for watching!
Totally relate. I live in Hawaii and I have to order everything and wait because it’s hard to find here
Oh wow! I hadn't thought about that. Do you find hair products are more expensive there?
You're the BEST! Thank you so much! This video really helped!

Hiya! Do you know if the tgin miracle mask is protein free? Cause I seem to be getting conflicting information

I love their miracle mask. But sadly I’m battling protein overload and too afraid to use it while recovering.

Coconut oil is also protein
Leah, A Relaxed Gal is olive oil safe??
You scared 😱 me so I went out brought only moisturizing products. All my products had protein in them I was shook.
